betsy Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 Globe’s Ibbitson admits Press Gallery members hate HarperApril 8, 2011 — BC Blue Norman Spector sent out a very interesting Tweet today: Globe’s Ott bureau chief in La Presse: “No secret to anyone that several members of the press gallery hate Stephen Harper” http://bcblue.files.wordpress.com/2011/04/spector-tweet.jpg Can you name them press gallery who wants to see Harper gone? I've got one! OLIVER CRAIG! He has a Liberal-mentality, thinking he has entitlements! He never forgave Harper for moving the privileged press gallery from their choice spot in Parliament hill! Quote

You do realise that it is the press who we rely on to keep us informed through investigative jouranlism and hold politicians accountable by reporting the news to us right?I get that Conservatives under Harper would really love to do away with the press gallery and have something more suited to their ideology such as say... a Ministry of Propoganda to inform Canadians of all they need to be told. But what Harperites want is not how it works here..well at least in a free democratic society... Rick Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 You, sir, have convinced me to buy Alcan shares. See we learn something new about posters here every day. I'd have had you pegged for someone who's head was invested deep into sand. bloodyminded Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 We rely on UNBIASED PRESS! Which, specifically? What is the unbiased network or newspaper? Quote As scarce as truth is, the supply has always been in excess of the demand. --Josh Billings
betsy Posted April 24, 2011 Author Report Posted April 24, 2011 Which, specifically? What is the unbiased network or newspaper? Joel Belevance (? did I spell that right?) from La Presse comes to mind. He tries to be fair when giving his opinion. He doesn't get pushed by the host. The guy from CPAC (I don't know his name or the name of his political talkshow) - not Goldhawk , the other one. Antonia Maioni (I don't know what newspaper she represents) also is objective in her opinion. Ibbitson comes across as unbiased too....he tries. He got on the "hot seat" at Question Period after he wrote about that press gallery hating Harper. Craig Oliver brought it up and sort of challenged him. Ibbitson said he still stands by his article....although you could say he was trying very hard to be diplomatic with Oliver. Oliver seems to wield some clout. I'm sure there are a lot more who practice real journalism...but they're not popular like the press gallery Quote
RNG Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 (edited) I like Rick Mercer. He skewers everyone. Edited April 24, 2011 by RNG Quote The government can't give anything to anyone without having first taken it from someone else.

betsy Posted April 25, 2011 Author Report Posted April 25, 2011 Which, specifically? What is the unbiased network or newspaper? I'd also like to add Goldhawk from CPAC and David Aiken (I don't see this guy anymore on tv) as unbiased. Quote
Smallc Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 I'd also like to add Goldhawk from CPAC and David Aiken (I don't see this guy anymore on tv) as unbiased. David Akin is the host of 'The Brief' on Sun News Network. Quote
