It sounded that way. The media doesn't report on all the small town meetings, maybe they didn't care - unless it was a conservative who said it of course. If you think I and Tony Clements are making this up, that I've nothing better to do than sit at this keyboard and make a whole pile of stuff up, fine, whatever makes you happy.

I don't think anyone is accusing you of making it up; what they are saying is without a quote, they can't make a judgement. Clements could very well be misrepresenting what was said; it certainly wouldn't be the first time a politician said that. Or he could be taking it out of context. Wouldn't be the first time that's happened, either. So without the quote, it's nothing but hearsay, and it's best not to go around making judgments based on hearsay.

Things got dirty at the first All Candidates debate in Burk's Falls. Conservative candidate Tony Clement's camp say NDP Candidate Wendy Wilson made direct reference to Clement's face on the side of his campaign van and then she referred to the long gun registry saying "maybe you will think twice on your position on the long gun registry" and "that van is a big target". According to those in the audience, the statement drew audible gasps from the crowd and the room grew silent. That led to Clement taking to Twitter later on in part stating that Wilson had suggested his campaign van needed "crosshairs". But when we spoke to Wilson yesterday, she denied using the word crosshairs. Wilson says she's apologized and it's time to move on. Moose FM CFBG 99.5 - Muskoka

Thanks American Woman for helping to bring a little sanity into this discussion.

So, now that the candidate herself has admitted to, and apologized for, exactly the same kind of violent rhetoric that lefties blamed for the attempted murder of Gabrielle Giffords... I'd again like to ask...

I think it's a non-issue.

However, I'd like to hear why people who blamed "heated rhetoric" for the assassination attempt on Gabrielle Giffords explain why this is different.

Where's all that faux outrage now?

The media has a fetish for going hard after incumbent parties in elections. Ask the liberals how their media exposure was in 2005-06.

Change makes for a better story then the status quo.

Hindsight criticism. The "heated rhetoric", which is the case here too, was not criticized until something happened, then it was used to point the blame.

Nice choice of language Globe and Mail - jerks

Let's see if the same folks here can be just as outraged over this.

‘Jackomania’ in Quebec puts Layton in opponents’ crosshairs

Jack Layton’s sudden surge to the front of the Quebec pack is about to make him a bigger target than he’s ever been before.

An NDP campaign that started to take off after Mr. Layton’s solid debate performance is now on a major roll in Quebec, even as the Bloc Québécois, led by a cheerless Gilles Duceppe, slogs along facing the risk of a historic setback.

She's not a Conservative or a Republican. That standard is reserved for them. Similar to the Giffords incident. Liberals/NDP/Democrats are allowed to use similar violent rhetoric. They get a pass for some reason.

However, if we're to draw conclusions the same way others have drawn them from a back bencher's opinions on abortions. It's clear that the entire NDP want to kill Tony Clement. Or they have a secret agenda to kill him. Again, if we're using the same logic as others in the back bencher abortion comments. Right Harry?
