It wasn't till they banned it that a wide proportion of the population became curious to try it. That aside, anybody ever figure out why pork barrel politics have been so firmly rooted for so many years? Is not politics and corruption more common than ever before in the western world? In those contexts, why not legalize weed? Quote

In those contexts, why not legalize weed? Economics trumps virtue. Prohibition maximizes the suction of money out of the general population for both criminals and the law. The only thing that's missing between this cozy little arrangement is the revolving door that usually exists between business executives and government officials in so many other industries.
