Hope So

I hope you're right. Stephen Harper is the best Prime Minister we have ever had, in my opinion. I don't think there are any alternatives among his contenders, including Michael Ignatieff, who is intelligent - no question. Harper has more integrity and honesty, as far as I am concerned. Harper was the mastermind behind the Reform Party, at a quite young age, if I'm not mistaken.

Harper did acquire parity for the Canadian Dollar, with the American Dollar. No other Prime Minister was able to achieve that. He is also the opposite of Pierre Elliott Trudeau, in that Harper is much quieter, and more of a thinker. Trudeau was an ostentatious rebel who wanted to convert Canada into a Socialist dictatorship.

Look everyone on this board knows I am far cry from a Liberal defender but in the same two sentences you cheer Harper for "parity for the Canadian Dollar" and bash Trudeau. News flash! The last time the dollar was at par the PM was Trudeau please fact check next time.

That's a completely stunning comment.

I am challenged to think of a single instance in which the Conservatives have paid more than the most cynical and insincere lip service to 'integrity and honesty'.

Income trusts are the least of it. How much 'honesty and integrity' was involved in the recruitment and appointment of David Emerson, for instance? In the commitment to transparency and to de-politicize appointments? How many senators have been appointed since the last time Mr. Harper climbed on a pedestal to insist that he would never do it?

How much integrity is involved in the current branding of infrastructure grants? How much honesty in the about-face wrt deployment of our forces?

On and on and on... Where is there any evidence whatsoever that the CPC has even remote familiarity with the concepts of integrity and/or honesty?

As punked already pointed out your facts are a little off. The dollar has been at par with the greenback previously.

The fact that parity with the green back has far more negative consequences than positive ones notwithstanding, this is more a reflection on the weakness of the greenback and rising commodity prices. The loonie's values vis a vis the green back has little to do with the sitting PM and much to do with world economic factors.

You can be a Harper fan boy all you like, just ensure the reasons you state are accurate and reflective of Mr. Harpers actions, not this Harper Rules, Trudeau Drools drivel you're attempting to pass off as intelligent discourse.

You've got people declaring "Harper is the best Prime Minister ever". I don't think facts are big on some posters' agendas.

Depends on who you are and what you do for a living and what the economic conditions are at the time. It's helping me. My job is not in any way tied in with the export market, I buy things from China and inflation is negated. I'm perfectly happy with the rising dollar.

It's the same for a lot of people.

The people who are hurt by the rising dollar are exporters who depend on a cheap dollar to be competitive rather than on stong/novel business models.

IF you really believe Harper has more integrity and HONESTY, then you don't require much!

Because he's already told Canadians that he doesn't think that an election should be held at this time.

Didn't stop him last time, did it? He said his government would not call an election. Even had legislation to back that up.

He can't really say he lost a vote, can he?

Why don't Ignatieff and Layton call an election? Why should Harper always have to do it?

Actually, if Harper did what you demand do you really think that he'd take a hit from voters large enough to overcome the Liberal lag in the polls? Surely you would not want such a thing to happen to your party.

Maybe. Or maybe the numbers are as much because there's no looming election, in which case the Tory numbers could collapse.

Fortunately for you, Harper isn't nearly the delusional nut that you are.

ah and there you have it......the signs of a true Liberal defeat!!! When they resort to

name calling out of desperation and dispair instead of denying

the Libs have had it!! I lovin it!!!
