eyeball Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 I don't think there was a door, sidewalk or door knocker in the area where the Greenpeace terrorists decided to go. It also appears they entered illegally and were charged accordingly. No one or group is above the law. Its just as illegal to degrade the environment. If I deliberately let oil spill onto the ground or into the water in the course of my job I can be arrested, but not oil sands developers. I'm terrified that oil sands development is going to contribute a lot towards making our environment a lot less liveable. They arrested the wrong terrorists in my opinion. eyeball Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 I'm not defending Greenpeace here, so much as wondering if you think civil disobedience is ever justified. For instance, would you have been applauding Rosa Parks for standing up to the Montgomery bus driver, or have been demanding she obey the laws and move to the back of the bus? This is an excellent question. I bet Rosa Parks in her day, would have got a big thumbs down from the usual suspects around here. They probably would have spouted some PC gibberish to cover their asses but at the end of the day, the law would remain the law because it is the law.
