Keepitsimple Posted September 30, 2009 Report Posted September 30, 2009 I saw the ad on Power Play. If you are kicking the tires in thinking of considering the NDP, it's a good ad. I continue to think that Liberal misfortunes will see some of their far-left supporters going to the NDP. Quote Back to Basics

punked Posted October 1, 2009 Author Report Posted October 1, 2009 (edited) CROP says the NDP are down 5 points in Quebec alone. Yah what does it say about the Liberals? From the summer they are down 8% since June OUCH, down 12 points from April. Poor Dobbin here is a hint for the Liberals stop attacking the NDP. I would also point out the NDP up three points from April in crop. So over the last 4 months NDP up Liberals wayyyyy down. Edited October 1, 2009 by punked Quote

Jerry J. Fortin Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 I agree with the folks that say Layton is making a mistake supporting Harper. Quote
Sir Bandelot Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 The new ad sucks. Propping up Harper sucks. Jack keeping Harper in power will kill the NDP when an election finally comes. Good, because Jack Layton and the NDP SUCKS Quote
Jerry J. Fortin Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 I wouldn't say that either Jack or the NDP suck. I would say that some of their policies do, but their politicians are okay, about what I would say of all the rest of the politicians and parties actually.. Quote
Sir Bandelot Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 Well I would say he sucks, because I have specific issues with Jack. He is a big disappointment, and a traitor. In my view NDP would do well to replace him with someone else. Quote

How would the New Jack Layton Party sound? Quote RIGHT of SOME, LEFT of OTHERS If it is a choice between them and us, I choose us
Molly Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 It's a pretty easy message to say, "Yeah!" to, regardless of your political leanings. It'll help. Jerry J. Fortin Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 Um, didn't the Liberals prop up Harper for like a year? Yes they did, and blew a chance to turf the government last summer. Quote
scribblet Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 It's a good add, it shows Layton as wanting the gov't to work and going to bat for the unemployed. The Liberals are falling further behind all the time, the optics are not good at all as the conservatives at the moment are heading into majority territory. I don't think Ignatieff will be around by next year. Quote Hey Ho - Ontario Liberals Have to Go - Fight Wynne - save our province

The ad isn't a bad one. Layton doesn't look quite as much like a used car salesman as usual. And he makes a decent point. On the other hand, most people will still not consider the NDP because the NDP's policies and philosphy is geared towards championing only minorities, the underdog. It ignores the middle class, and so the middle class ignores the NDP. Well if there's any positive outcome for a CPC majority, it will hopefully be the complete annihilation of the Liberal party, to the loss of official party status in the house. I would welcome that. The LPC is an outdated dinosaur from the past that is unable to set itself on the right course. It is no longer useful to Canadians. The party must be dismantled, and maybe a new one rebuilt. Let a new phoenix rise from its ashes. I believe its in the best interest of this country, in order to go forward. Quote
Shady Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 Yes they did, and blew a chance to turf the government last summer. It's just kind of funny hearing the Liberal supporters in this forum complaining about the NDP supporting Harper, when the Liberals are guilty of the same thing, but for a much longer time. Quote

Thinking you are missing the gist of what is being said and that is the Liberals had to end the free ride the NDP was getting since it gained the Liberals nothing. The Liberals kept the government going and for their troubles were probably looking at the Tories calling another snap election. Quote

Shady Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 Thinking you are missing the gist of what is being said and that is the Liberals had to end the free ride the NDP was getting since it gained the Liberals nothing. Wrong, it gained them financially. That had to support Harper previously, because they didn't have the money for another election. The Liberals kept the government going and for their troubles were probably looking at the Tories calling another snap election. And now the Liberals are calling for a snap election. Quote

jdobbin Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 (edited) Wrong, it gained them financially. That had to support Harper previously, because they didn't have the money for another election. It didn't gain them financially. Money was slowing more and more because of the perceived weakness the party had from supporting the government. In the end, the Tories violated their own law and called an election anyway. And now the Liberals are calling for a snap election. Might as well. The Tories would have called it otherwise. Edited October 1, 2009 by jdobbin Quote
