Canada boycotts Ahmadinejad's UN speech

I wonder why it is Canada, that allegedly stands for democracy and free speech can't tolerate in an international forum the free speech of others?

I mean shouldn't Canada set an example to the world of how much free speech is valued?

How we may disagree with what is said, but, we say your entitled to your opinion.

Isn't that what Canada is supposedly doing in it's export of "democracy"

Free speech is a fundamental right, so what message is Canada sending to the world, regarding it's real stand on freedom of speech?

So you are suggesting that Amindingdong wasn't allowed to speak? That he wasn't allowed announce his holocaust denials or spread his tinfoilery about the "International Jewish Conspiracy"? Even though free speech is not tolerated by Amindongdong?

Funny, I watched Amindindong give his hate speech..no one stopped him.

But right along side the right to free speech is the right not to be forced to listen to imflamatory hate speech.

I mean shouldn't Canada set an example to the world of how much free speech is valued?

By listening to a speech of little value?

Free speech is a fundamental right, so what message is Canada sending to the world, regarding it's real stand on freedom of speech?

That no one should compelled to listen to hate speech or compelled to give a holocaust denying pinhead the semblence of respect.

Now the pack mentality is a scary thing, and Canada demonstrating pack mentality doesn't bode well for it's people.....

We're we demonstrating 'pack mentality' when 1 million Canadian's went into uniform to defeat Hitler? Why is this Iranian Nazi any different?

Like Afghan "nazi" and Iraq "nazi" before (and Vietnam "nazi" some years back)? Everybody we don't happen to like must be a "nazi". That certainly explains so many things, pack mentality in particular.

No...Holocaust denying fans of the 3rd Reich like Iran's president are Nazis. Terrorist Jew-baiting scum like Mullah Omar are Nazis. Friends of yours, I gather?

Yes, correct: I have to respect and even love him, or he is a "nazi" (and all such things). Please keep telling us all about how pack mentality works.

A poster referencing the 'collective we' claiming I'm demonstarting 'pack mentality'...?

Priceless.

the audience, point taken. And so, any other comments on the subject, we've made (you and I) great inroads into understanding pack mentality so far?

Just that you seem to have a fondness for terrorist leaders and dictators while my 'pack' despises them...

Of course, we simply have to be the ones deciding the legitimacy of others elections, governments, ways to run the country, laws, beliefs, and so on. And if we don't like them, we'll walk out, proudly. Such a novel recipe for the world in the new millenia!

(Applause) yay! someone else who offer criticisms without actually looking at the argument.

No we are not the ones deciding the legitimacy of other people elections. The Iranian are the one deciding the legitimacy of their own. You may have conveniently forgotten but after the fraudulent Iranian elections this summer: there where riots demanding recounts. Followed by a severe beat downs from police and paramilitants. Arrests for being on the same street as a protest/being British or working for a western organisation. followed by the show trial of opposition leaders. I'm not the one saying that's the government isn't legitimate. If there's one thing we learned from this summer its that the Iranians themselves don't think their own government is legitimate.

Maybe I didn't make this point strong enough in the original argument.
