maplesyrup
Devine goes for solo shot Maybe it is time to end party politics in Canada. What good does it do us anyways?
udawg
Devine doesn't stand a chance if he runs anywhere in Saskatchewan. It's hard to express in words the contempt that virtually everyone here feels for him, whether they be conservative or not.
maplesyrup
Devine may get more support than we realize. There was quite an uproar when he was denied the nomination by the Cons.
August1991
There was quite an uproar when he was denied the nomination by the Cons. There was quite an uproar on the English CBC.Honest to God, this is how the English CBC presented the story in Montreal. (Did this go national?) My quotes: "Grant Devine led a Conservative government where many members stole money. Some went to jail but not Devine who was never charged with any wrongdoing. Now, Devine wants to run as a Conservative but he can't because the Conservatives don't want him. Grant says that some Conservatives want to silence him so his only choice is to run as an independant." WTF? I had more questions after this report than before. IMV, that's bad journalism. idealisttotheend
I wonder if the net effect of Mr. Devine's action to run as an independant will be to split the vote and have the Liberals come down the middle? I wonder if Mr. Devine knows this and is doing it to punish the Alliance/Conservatives? Actually it might be very interesting because if he wins than this will be a slap in the face of the CPC for dening who was obviously the more popular candidate the right to run. Very bad for the (former) champions of grass root democracy. Interesting to that they would deny him, he was never even charged with anything I belive. Look how PC the Alliance has become under Harper.
