jdobbin
http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/090404/...dr_lawyer_fired Kuebler, who has acted for Khadr for two years at the behest of the Pentagon, was abruptly reassigned from the Office of the Military Commissions on Friday and ordered to report to the U.S. Navy's management and plans division."I am no longer assigned to this office," he said in a voicemail message at his now-vacated commission office. A spokeswoman for Foreign Affairs Minister Lawrence Cannon said the department wanted more information on Kuebler's dismissal and would insist Khadr had access to competent counsel of his own choice. Perhaps that is it for the defence. Who would take the case now even if they were assigned it?
Radsickle
Hopefully there won't be a case, not the kind Kuebler had to fight the last few years. Hopefully, Gitmo will be history and Canada will have to grow up and deal with its own. Hopefully Canada will soon choose a better leader than Harper. jdobbin
U.S. military judge reinstates fired Khadr lawyer http://www.canada.com/news/military+judge+...4453/story.html A military judge Tuesday overruled the Pentagon in its firing of Omar Khadr's military defence lawyer — a decision that provoked more confusion in the Guantanamo Bay case. The move by Judge Patrick Parrish, an army colonel, effectively reinstates navy Lt.-Cmdr. Bill Kuebler as chief counsel for the Canadian-born terror suspect just days after Kuebler's immediate boss fired him. But the office headed by Air Force Col. Peter Masciola, who gave Kuebler his marching orders Friday, hit back by saying the judge had misread the rules governing the military commissions under which Khadr and other accused terrorists are being prosecuted. And round, round we go. This is getting ridiculous.

This is getting ridiculous. Show trials are good... they distract people from the important questions like why isn't Carl Rove behind bars?
