Stop Dump Site 41 - WE WON !

Recommended Posts

So you have an old wise man from the area who drags his poor body out to speak his mind on the issue- in two is his oxygen tank and a missing leg - I guess with his last breath he seems to understand the utmost importance of this land and it's real value and it's real wealth - Elders with wisdom seem not to be respected these days even though they have a vision of the past that grants them a vision of what is to be.

As I always said - vision is the wisdom to know if you do THIS - THAT - will occur..apparently some dumb animals that seek to profit from stealing natural wealth are blind and have no vision of the past present or future - what will they do with this stolen wealth - buy cocaine and prostitutes?

This report I just read - can be made concise - if there is a bit of marshland or "cat tails" growing - these little muddy basins are actually the tops of springs..what comes up is water - put something on top - and it will go down into the undergroud reserve thought these holes.

Let me give you a lesson on visionless planning in these regards...I mentioned I lived on Lake Wilcox most of my life. The lake was deep and clear - but there was resentment by those not of the area of the inhabitants - that they were poor and their septic systems ran into the lake - this was not true - and if their was leakage it was quickly swept out of the system - and the water was always crystal clear.

Developers convince the town of Richmond Hill - that absorbed Oak Ridges and Lake Wilcox that if they put a sewer line around the lake that things would be so much better - so they dug a huge trench around the ancient kettle lake - it was forty feet deep in some areas - then the filled the bottom of the trench with coarse gravel - to lay the lines on...what took place later - Was that the ground water that flowed to the west ( the head waters of the Humber) took the route of least possible resistance - instead of flowing underground though the springs - lake to lake - and there were a number of lakes on top of the Oak Ridge - THE COOL SPRING WATER FLOWED INTO THE GRAVEL BEDS AND STARVED THE LAKE> It was like cutting off the circulation to a human leg - the leg went gangerous.

Then desperately they brought in some strange and expensive contraption (artifical lungs) they stuck it out in the middle of the lake at great cost to the tax payer to attempt to oxygenate the water - it failed - No one understood the area - how if flowed above ground and below groud - now the lake that was to "be improved" is literally a cess pool..the fish were bountiful as I remember - the natives tavelled though that area and did well...back in the old days - the poor that existed - back in the 50s and 60s fed their families out of the lakes..now all we have is subdivided bullshit - I remember the sales pitch "Come live with nature" - well once thousands arrived - nature was dead...and only I and a few know what was there before - and earthly heaven..that none will ever see again...when I go to the area and stand on a hill looking down for what was the old Indian burial ground - I feel like I want to fall to my knees and weep.

Well then this will make you cry too:

Explanation sought for filthy spring water – six arrested, no explanation

ELMVALE – Six people were arrested by the OPP today while seeking a reason for the cloudiness and loss of pressure in an artesian spring on a farm property next to Dump Site 41.

Three of the people are aboriginal. One of them, Jen Meunier, an Algonquin from Eastern Ontario, was arrested along with another woman while holding an eagle feather and making ceremonies.

To make an arrest in ceremony is an act of disrespect, Beausoleil First Nation Councillor Beth Brass Elson said in a telephone interview. “They should never have touched those girls while they were sitting there with their smudge bowls.”

Brass Elson said she believes Simcoe County staff are making immense efforts to get the dump site finished before a moratorium vote that’s to be held August 25. “We’re afraid it will get to the point when it goes to the County Council, it will be at the point of no return.“

Dave Wahwahbiginojii, a Dene-Anishinaabe from Northern Ontario who was at the scene trying to negotiate answers through the OPP’s aboriginal response team (ART), said the concern is that the water used by the protest camp turned cloudy on Saturday.

It comes from an artesian spring that the farmer who owns the property has used for pure drinking water for 50 years.

Simcoe County has been working late into the night and on the weekend since OPP moved in on Friday August 7 and dismantled a shelter, opening access to Gate 2. The action ended a 5-week blockade although the protest has continued across the road.

Wahwahbiginojii said that when workers arrived Monday morning, the site supervisor was asked about the water quality. Two local citizens also wanted to know who gave permission to keep working at such a pace when the next Simcoe County Council meeting, on August 25, will be voting on a moratorium.

Another development, re the County's refusal to release the model for the dumpsite: A letter released by the lawyers defending some of the protesters:

It is our opinion that the County of Simcoe's recent responses to the Privacy

Commissioner with respect to Order MO-2416 have been inappropriate, and that

continued failure to respond appropriately would create a serious risk of liability. It is

our further opinion that, partially as a result of those responses the County of Simoce

should impose a moratorium on construction of DumpSite 41 that remains in

effect unless and until further investigations of possible environmental impacts have

been completed. The basis of our opinion is outlined below.

And this is an interesting statement:

We have prepared this opinion on our own behalf; it reflects our personal legal

opinions and is not presented on behalf of any former or present client. This opinion

can be used in any appropriate way and quoted by anyone who finds it useful to do so

Imagine that! Lawyers working without pay and with conscience! :D

Another interesting statement:

... all regional dumps (Essa / Oro-Medonte / Pauze) that have leaked were all approved by the Ministry of the Environment

WE ALL SEEM TO OVER LOOK SOMETHING, THAT MAYOR HANS MULLER - AKA - MILLER IS NOT REALLY A LEFTY - HE IS A SUPER RIGHT WINGER. AS WE NOTICED WITH THE GARBAGE STRIKE - HE HELD THE COMMON EVERDAY PERSON IN CONTEMT - THE OLD - THE POOR - THE DISCONNECTED..HE LET THEM WALLOW FOR WEEKS IN POISON- IN ROT - ALLOWED US TO BE COVERED IN FLYS AND WADE THROUGH SLIME - KICKING THE MAGGOTS ASIDE...

Where did he put his "temporary" dump sites? He did not put them in places where the people had the power to complain and to have effect in their protestation - he put one in Moss Park among other dis-enfranchised communities. He disrespect the now aging poor population - just as he is disrespecting the elders though his legalist cronnies that protest at DUMP SITE 41 !

This is not the socialist benevolent and sweet caring mayor that we have been duped to believe in with his useless bike paths..and welfare designed to slowly kill the poor - the poor that he is well aware of are sometimes more intelligent than his "class" the poor that he quietly percieves as a threat to his new up and coming dream - to be the first leader of the first Canadian National Socialist Party...Miller like Shwartzneger...of Califorinia is a second generation rightist...who as he destroys the fabric and economy - of a city state now assists in destroying what keeps the average person hydrated and strong and smart WATER! The bastard!

FUTHERMORE ! Miller spearheaded the drive to remove clean unchlorinated water from the schools - bottled water - stating the city water was just fine - any fool knows that city water treated with a salt compound (chlorine) does not fully hydrate the body and brain - leaving the population a little more docile - This prick denied our children a drink of clean untreated water - If you remember LOVE CANNAL- over on the otherside of Lake Ontario - during the 50s 60s and so on...

- million of gallons of the most deadly cancer causing elements were dumped into the lake - Into the water supply - traces can still be found 50 years later in our tap water..They thought that the lake was big enough to absorb the posion..it was not - just as they thought that our atmosphere was so vast that we could pump poison into the air and it would be absorbed and disappated-- WE WERE WRONG ---Just as the land at Simcoe is so vast..that it can take becoming a tumor and not infect or effect the rest of the natural body.

This big city attitude can be seen in the mind set of some city dwellers -- the attitude that all of the natural world is where artifical people and societies dump their waste - right in the lap of mother nature - like a child that shits on his parent..rather than contain the crap in a toilet. You see it all the time - not just during the garbabage strike but all year around - walk by your average park - people who are urbanites - and urbanite immigrants assume that this is where you toss your waste - your packaging - your old mattress.

Those that are about to ruin billions upoun billions of gallons of the finest water on earth are practicing anti-christism...Water - the holy fluid that is in part the same atomic structure as the life giving sun itself - is the other end of the cosmic contract of life...H2o - Is sacred - what's next on the agenda for these destroyers - to blot out the sun itself? Which they are doing with other human wastes in the form of gases...IF this WELL- OUR WELL IS NOT PROTECTED...then we fail and we fail our ancestors - and we spit in the very face of God and nature...

If you spit in mother natures face long enough she will bloody your nose in time - with a strike so hard you will wish you were never born ----- we are here as our children and our childrens children - for eternity - earth is our enternal home and heaven - those that seek to destroy life giving water - seek to destroy all good people and their children - DUMP SITE 41 IS A DIRECT ATTACK ON OUR CHILDREN...and that is a capital offence - that the Capitial of Canada had better deal with---------------and I mean HARPER HIMSELF! Had better start doing his job!

Any man that will not bring his fellow a cool glass of water is not a man - nor is he worthy of being called a decendent of Christ - the great teacher that built western society and brought prosperity to all of us ----shame on the consumers - that consume and shit and consume and shit - and now shit in our drinking glass!

Lastly - any Judge that would grant an injuction to crimminals...is not fit to sit on the bench..because he has very very poor judgement - and who where these damned lawyers that apply for relief from the court to continue to harm society? They further bring our judical system into severe and utter disrepute!

No matte how I try - how much energy I use..or how much spirit and tired mind I apply - I will never be able to get across how important this thread is - It is the most important issue to arrise since I have come here...look at who is defending the water hole at Site 41 a hand full of rubes - honest aging people and one native chanting in desperation to God --where the hell are the young people? You're right. It's extremely important, especially with Toronto looking for new places to dump its 72 truckloads of garbage a day in 2010.

look at who is defending the water hole at Site 41 a hand full of rubes

That's an unnecessarily offensive term, and incorrect. I can assure you these are knowledgable and competent people. And there are many many more than a handful.

- honest aging people and one native chanting in desperation to God --where the hell are the young people? Smoking pot - playing video games - getting laid as they listen to gangster rap? Hip hopping their way into a dismal future where they will thirst and wonder why?

You're wrong. You're only talking about the few who are mentioned in the news. Native youth are onsite and responsible for keeping the sacred fire. Hundreds of other youth are supporting in other ways. Heck, teachers took their students to the protest site for field trips!

Over 2,000 people went to the rally recently. They were definitely an all ages crowd.

This is a smaller rally at the site itself:

There's lots of video. Check it out.

I found an interesting factoid while browsing http://stopdumpsite41.ca/

The liner material is guaranteed for 20 years, but the seams only for 2 years. <_<

More interesting stuff:

http://www.torontosun.com/news/columnists/...493171-sun.html

When Simcoe County got its certificate of approval to move forward with the dump back in the late 1990s, it got that approval from the ministry of environment based on county submissions that the aquifer under Site 41 contained water with an upward gradient, rather than a downward gradient.

A downward gradient would have immediately nixed Site 41 as an appropriate landfill venue, since downward gradients actually suck escaping landfill toxins into aquifers, while upward gradients actually keep contaminants pushed back.

Gord Leonard, however, does not believe Site 41 has an upward gradient, and this comes from experience, as well as documents he has seen while sitting as a member of the community monitoring committee.

"There are five bore holes on Site 41," he says. "Bore hole No. 5 is smack-dab in the middle but, after years showing its water level dropping, the county now has documentation showing that its water level is now actually rising -- making it upward gradient, and therefore making it just what it wants it to be.

"But tell me, how does that happen? How does water suddenly change directions?

"I'll tell you how it happens," he says. "It happens when information gets fudged."

...

It would appear, however, that Ontario's environment commissioner, Gordon Miller, seems to agree with Leonard's suspicions -- recently stating that building a dump over an aquifer in 2009, particularly using an engineering process proposed in the early 1990s, was a political mystifier.

"If we were going to start this process today, we would not build on this site," Miller has been quoted as saying.

And ...

http://stopdumpsite41.ca/?p=570

At 11 a.m., Tiny Township Councillor Andre Clair and resident Gord Leonard (both Community Monitoring Committee members) visited the dump site with Ontario Environment Ministry official Greg Athron and a ministry hydrologist. Clair said it doesn’t appear that construction of the dump site will be completed by August 25.

Clair said they discussed the fact that work is being done that’s covered by amendments to the Certificate of Approval that have been applied for by the County but not yet approved by the Ministry. Clair said ministry officials said the County is taking a “big risk” by doing the work without approval because an amendment might be denied and the work might have to be dismantled, “but,” Clair added, “you know as well as I do, chances of that are very slim.”

Unfriggenbelievable!

It's such a scam.

I hope those here who have expressed concern will email their concerns to the County Councillors (emails provided in earlier post) and to the Ontario Minister of the Environment.

A good summary:

ELMVALE, ONTARIO – On May 8, a group of women from Beausoleil First Nation set up a protest camp opposite Site 41, a dump being constructed near Midland, in Simcoe County. Their purpose: to protect the water in the aquifers below the site that has been found to be exceptionally pure.

Since then, a fight that had been a local, rearguard action by a small group of farmers has caught the imagination of people across Ontario. Area cottagers – a powerful group in this backwater where Toronto comes to play on the shores of Georgian Bay – joined the coalition.

A movement started to form.

And I will add ... support is being requested for this weekend's events and at the site, and for Monday morning's Simcoe County Council meeting where a vote on a moratorium will be taken.

Now that Council is fully informed a re-decision should be made - the needs of urbanites who are dis-connected from nature and true human health...should not trump the wants of those who know what they want for the future and that is a supply of pure life sustaining water, water that is bacteria free and not in need of "treatment" - water that is chemical free - and water that is actually FREE! I who grew up with an artisian well under my house..never thought I would see the day when water would be sold...nor did I ever believe that people would actually think that water out of Lake Ontario - after decades of abuse by industry and humans in general - would some how be equal in value to water that is pure - a litre of good flowing ground water is and always will be superiour to treated water. I would rather drink one glass of the real stuff than a thousand glasses of recyled human and chemical waste...try the water in San Francisco - It tastes and smells like sewage - and they are used to it - they think it's normal ----do we want to go that route - where the worst will be considered the best?

We have a strong feeling that it wasn't about lacking information: The Warden poohbah, for example, intentionally spreads misinformation. He also evaded Council to get the injunction to arrest the protesters.

No, there's much more going on here than a lack of knowledge ...

However, hopefully not too many councillors are in on it. We only need a few more to vote for a moratorium until after the next municipal election. It's looking good!

I remember a court proceeding - that suddenly stopped that their lawyer disappeared - the judge just sat there in limbo - so I figured there was some skull duggery going on - so I left the court and traveled down the hall to the JPs office - there was the little bastard attempting to file a charge against me in mid hearing...I said " you had better not be up to something nasty and illegal" -----well little known to this jerk legalist pigster ..that I had aready dropped the charges against his client - as he was belatedly attempting to counter charge me...so back in the court room I pointed at this lawyer and said he was a weasil - then I pointed at the judge and said "YOU should be ashamed of yourself for allowing this - and yes she was aware...Did she hold me in contempt? No way - she shrunk like a withered rose - because - YOU do not abuse the court system - and do favours behind closed doors - point being - shifty behavior or lurking about getting injunctions by fraud is not proper - A court must have self respect !

Today's news from the site:

A commentary on behalf of the National Farmers Union Ontario

By Grant Robertson

We Ontarians have an addiction to garbage. If you have ever traveled outside the province it is not hard to see how poorly Ontario is at dealing with waste.

In Ontario we seem to have come to the conclusion that we have lots of ‘vacant’ rural land so we can throw our garbage in a really big pile, throw soil over it and forget about it.

Ya ... and in my community where we are limited to one bag of garbage a week, such people go around looking for neighbours who have NO garbage (only green and blue bins) and plunk their extra bags there, or at empty houses.

Ticks me off!!

For pete's sake, folks: how difficult is it!

Happened to me once. You can look through the garbage and find out who originally owned it. Not only that, you can find out alot of private information too. I'm sure if your neighbour found out you were doing that, it'll stop pretty quickly.

Well well!

Environmental activist and former U.S. presidential candidate Ralph Nader is appealing to Ontario's premier to halt construction on Site 41, a controversial landfill project.

In a passionate letter to Dalton McGuinty dated today, Mr. Nader says he was surprised at the vehement local uproar against the dump being constructed about 40 kilometres northwest of Barrie, Ont.

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/nation...article1259043/

The County will take its vote on a moratorium on Tues (25). If they don't do the right thing, then it's time for the Ministry of the Environment to act and shut it down.

This may help a bit.

America is more experienced in the degrading of the natural environment--and the wiser ones feel the regret - as you look at eastern Europe - parts of the former Soviet union - and China - all of the have regrets..We as Canadians still have something that they don't have - a thing called pristine. Most water tables are destroyed in the mention places - rivers are sewers - black filth.. Ask yourself this question - do you want to keep your wealth and health or not? Nader knows his stuff..we seem to think that we have lots of resources to waste - in time there will be none.

Privacy Commissioner gives county second warning

Author: Laurie Watt, STAFF

Date: Aug 21, 2009

The Ontario Information and Privacy Commissioner Ann Cavoukian issued an order to Simcoe County to take all steps – including legal action – to obtain the hydrogeological data at the core of the Site 41 controversy.

Friday afternoon, the IPC issued its second order related to a two-year-old appeal from longtime anti-dump activist Steve Ogden, who has served on the Site 41 Community Monitoring Committee.

“When institutions embark on ventures that will have major implications to the public, as is the case with Site 41, they must plan up-front to include access to information of public interest,” said Cavoukian.

“I cannot stress enough the importance of freedom of information. If citizens are to participate meaningfully in the democratic process and hold politicians and bureaucrats accountable, they must have timely access to this type of information.”

IPC adjudicator Colin Bhattacharjee said the county “ is continuing an unacceptable pattern of conduct in which it is deliberately disassociating itself for key records relating to the environmental integrity of Site 41, despite the fact these records were created by (consulting firm) Jagger Hims with taxpayers’ money.

...

http://www.collingwoodconnection.com/colli.../article/143692

Hmm ... County is pushing it down to the wire. As well as taking a vote on Tuesday about a moratorium on the dump, they will also have to make a decision about a response to the FOI Commissioner.

The county has since indicated in a letter to the IPC that it is not willing to take any additional actions to obtain the data.

Cavoukian has described the county response as "completely unacceptable."

The IPC order issued yesterday says that in failing to obtain the records from Jagger Hims, "the County has failed to comply with the initial order."

The IPC order is clear: The county must obtain the data. Once it has done that, it must decide whether to provide it Ogden. The county has 30 days to decide. If it chooses to refuse, Ogden can appeal that decision to the IPC.

The latest development has prompted Midland Mayor James Downer to question whether there ever was a Modflow.

"It makes one wonder if it ever existed," he said. "If there really is a Modflow, let us see it. The taxpayers are paying for it, they have a right to see it."

ELMVALE – The Stop Dump Site 41 group is demanding an immediate retraction of a media release sent out yesterday afternoon by the “Office of the Warden and CAO of Simcoe County,” namely Tony Guergis and Mark Aiken.

“This release is inflammatory, libelous and racially stereotyping,” said Kate Harries, a spokesperson for the Stop Dump Site 41 protest.

“It also shows a lack of respect for the court, in that it uses the words of Justice Peter Lauwers to bolster a fabrication.”

The County release says that a “dozen individuals wearing black bandanas over their faces have informed onsite staff that they will allow safe exit from the North Simcoe Landfill but that re-entry will not be permitted.”

“I have confirmed with Constable Heidi Fisher of the OPP’s aboriginal relations team (ART) that this did not happen,” Harries said. “She said she called through to her staff sergeant to say that the information in the release was not correct.”

http://stopdumpsite41.ca/?p=740

Well, the County just had to play the race card!

Shows how desperate they are to push ahead with the dump.

One has to wonder why, when the County still has 10 years of capacity.

Who has a private stake in this?

Or are they just that boneheaded they don't want their constituents to tell them what to do?

All big contracts such as this installation are premeated with crimminal activity. What normal good person would allow for such an ecological disaster and not care about millions of other people - the future of children - the quality of health and life? Hooligans in suits - follow the money and you will find the culprit- some low crawling creep that is willing to poison land so he can have some toys - like I said - the private profits from this enterprise will more than likely be spent on fine living - including alcohol, cocaine and the use of up scale prostitutes - some one should go arrest them now and launch an inquest into the back ground - and tacit bad behaviour of the judges and lawyers involved.

Just because someone sits on the bench or has a licence to practice law or is glorified with the title "developer" does not mean they are above screwing the public for profit. It would be nice if a storm would come down and punish then like it did some of the Woodbridge boys.
