The Québecois are already starting. Admittedly the SSJB is fairly radical, but PQ and QS could pick this up. We will have to see if federal leaders also pick up on this for whether there will be a reaction from the other Quebec parties. During the recent debates most Quebec candidates did not want to talk about this as they all said it is extremely low-priority and they do not want to re-open this Pandora's Box.

I never really thought about it before but as I checked the geographic area of the EU is only half of that of Canada.

Yet we can't agree amongst our very different selves agree on almost anything so no wonder that even though Canada is a bit more united than the EU even Canada doesn't always work like a small country.

Btw, as canada is currently the second biggest country in the world by landmass be prepared to become the first as Russia is inevitably going to collapse and break apart into smaller countries.

Canada is really just divided in two

it's called : Deux Solitudes

three quarters of population are essentially a British Victorian culture,

more British than the British in the face of the American menace at the gates

then one quarter of the population are Quebecois

not like republican French

the Quebecois are royalist French, they've always been a monarchy

the House of Bourbon in Nouvelle France,  taken as a war prize by the House of Hanover

it's Wolfe vs. Montcalm forever
