The only difference between Jaffer and Bernier, is that Bernier will likely be able to hold his seat under any circumstance, and Jaffer faces nailbiters each election.

Mr. Bluth Stated

Nail biters? Please define.

In Jaffer's first race in 1997 he won a real 'nail biter'. Won by 2,951 votes and 5.9% of the vote.

In the three elections since he has won on average by more than 5,100 votes and 9.9% of the vote.

Really hurts the credibility when your posts are so disjointed from reality.

Hope I earned some credibility with that May 08 assessment. Back to reality.....

Incompetent keeps seat.... Bernier

Nailbiter MP Loses Seat...... Jaffer

Now, I gotta admit..... I had no idea that an NDP candidate would do the honours of removing Jaffer.

And I must admit, I didn't think Jaffer would marry Guergis the day after the election.

I am not Kreskin....... :P

It is good to see him gone. Jaffer, that is. Congrats to the NDP on ending that monolithic representation of one party.

And I must admit, I didn't think Jaffer would marry Guergis the day after the election.

It was either that or move back home.

Yes, he had a certain smugness to him that I was not at all fond of.

Congrats on his wedding though. Maybe his wife can give him a job.

One of my favourite Jaffer stories:

"When Matthew Johnston, an assistant to Canadian member of parliament Rahim Jaffer, could not find his boss in time for a scheduled interview with a Vancouver radio station, he went on the air and pretended to be Jaffer for 45 minutes. After several callers pointed out that the guest was an imposter, the station later contacted Jaffer, who initially insisted he had given the interview, then admitted he hadn't. "

I listened to the radio interview when it played in Vancouver in 2001. At the time, I couldn't believe that the idiot on the air was a Conservative MP. It turns out he wasn't. Despite that, Jaffer kept insisting that he was that idiot. :P

Eventually Jaffer decided to tell the truth.

Despite his dishonesty, Conservative votes for Jaffer remained about the same in 2004, 2006 and 2008. The only reason Jaffer lost in 2008 was because Liberal voters in his riding switched to the NDP.

Jaffer's firm Conservative votes prove that integrity and ethics are not an essential feature of being a Conservative candidate. Bernier reminded us of that recently.

What I find facinating is that Palin the governor took revenge against a law enforcement officer that offended her sister - and de-jobed him - it's human and it is fair. Those with connections have worked hard for that advantage and if I could give my son a position I would..Neputism or the hiring of nephews is an age old tradtion..it's normal - except for some creeps like Oprah (the pop priestess) saying that her moching relatives could get jobs at McDonalds....what do you prefere? If a person has power - let them use it.

I agree that Harper has worked hard to have the connections which allowed him to put the unqualified Reid into the Ministry of the Environment.

But McCain has worked hard to cultivate a reputation for integrity and Palin's actions will hurt rather than help his campaign.

I agree. What could the ugly aging McCain do in his position other than bring on a sexy female suducer? It has been said by senior sources that McCain the son of an admiral comprimised the position of naval forces during the Viet Nam war - that he is not a real war hero... OH and remember Rona Ambrose who Harper used and disposed of when they found out she was not qualified - problem now is if McCain gets in and disposes of Palin as Harper had to to with Ambrose - who will be left? It's really screwed up - America has no real leaders in waiting and Harper may not be perfect but he is all we have....For instance during the filmin of Depe` There was a sweet man who was a make up artist.

We hired some soldiers to do some filming - the soldiers from Toronto were cool and excepting of the gay make up man - the hick soldiers that they brought in during filming harrassed the gay make up man. One day there was a confrontation between the two bands of military - Our Toronto boys said " He may be a f*g but he is OUR f*g" - Harper is all we have at present. It would be wise to monitor and use him wisely - prime minister means frist servant - just keep him in check and make sure he is serving us.

He could have brought on an intelligent woman who was not being investigated by her own government for inappropriately firing a top law enforcement official who refused to fire a police officer who had divorced her sister.

Mccain's poor judgment has helped Obama far more than anything Obama himself has done.
