Francophones complained quickly enough to the NCC over a panel of Lord Durham on the Sparks St. mall, part of a portrait gallery, in Ottawa, resulting with the removal of Lord Durham's panel.

But the NCC has no intention of asking a racist Franco-Ontarian band to censor itself from playing racist songs on Canada Day in Gatineau's Jacques Cartier Park.

"I'm not familiar with that song, I know the group is scheduled to play," said NCC spokeswoman Kathryn Keyes on Wednesday.

Duh, I wonder why, especially on Canada Day the NCC has no responsibility to investigate who and what the performers will be performing as a safeguard especially against racist aspirations.

An Ottawa-based Franco-Ontarian band is booked to play Canada Day celebrations in Gatineau's Jacques Cartier Park despite the fact one of the group's new songs features lyrics such as "English pig" and "tête carré," a term viewed by some anglophones as a racist slur.

The group finds it surprising that the song, which it says is an ironic one about the reality of being a Franco-Ontarian, has been interpreted as anti-anglophone.

If this song is played as part of Canada Days festivities, I will be tempted to post my new song, (part of the English speaking culture you know) French Swine.

Michel Bénac, who, with Jean-Philippe Goulet makes up the band, says the song is intended to be humorous.

Sounds like CANADIEN might be involved.

I doubt very much this song will be played now that it has created adverse 'racist' publicity.

I do not even know if I want to celebrate Canada Day! This country is fast becoming a joke. Rules only apply to some and people scream about wanting equality but then demand ( and usually) receive more than others. White English people don't seems to have any rights anymore and the socialists who think they are so superior in intelligence shut those up who disagree with their agenda by calling them racist. Ontario has a culture and it's culture is based on the people who settled here and brought it its initial prosperity. That would have been the British. I am sick of hearing them say that they need sign laws etc because they need to preserve their culture and their language. There are many eastern Europeans and Asians who came to this country and contributed and have managed to retain their culture. Why should I learn french? IT IS NOT MY CULTURE!! Is their group so weak that they must force it on others in order to preserve it. Getting a job in with the federal government in Ottawa is not about how intelligent you are anymore or your talents, but rather if you are french. You can be an anglophone who speaks french but that does not seem to have merit. When a stripper can get a high ranking position in the government because she speaks french but only has skills in sliding down greased poles, there is certainly something wrong. My small business works with government departments and we have run into people who actually cannot speak English! I will never put a bilingual sign on my business as I am not french and no one will tell me how to run my business. I pay enough taxes to support the payrolls of all the unintelligent people who work for the feds and never really do anything except go on vacation and collect a cheque. The band swing just shows how moronic and pathetic they are. Let them be, all that they are accomplishing is showing their lack of intelligence! Of course, if an English band did the same, we would never hear the end of it. I am sick to death of the lack of common sense in this country. But of course, I guess that such a thing is passe!!!

Sounds like CANADIEN might be involved.

Now if some English speaking band sang a song called the french frogs the English and French media would go ballistic calling it anti-French. The Anglophone media in Canada will always try to ignore insults thrown at the Anglophones in this country by the French of Canada. That is always a given. The French were defeated by the British at the Plains of Abraham battle but somehow the French ended up winning that battle. Quebec does own and control the rest of British Canada. How the hell did that happen?
