Canadian's Attitudes Towards Immigrants

Recommended Posts

Some High Lights...

Latest Census: 5 Million Canadian citizens who are members of visiable minority groups.

Do Canadians view this as positive or negative?

Positive Canada - 48%

Negative Canada - 9%

Visable Minorities comprise 16 percent of Canada's Population

Do Canadians feel the proportion is too small or too high?

Too Small Canada - 10%

About Right Canada- 22%

Too Large Canada- 9%

DOESN'T MATTER- 55%

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/v5/content/...migrantsurv.pdf

And as expected, the more education and higher income the more likely their attitudes towards visable minoritiesare positive.

But what is really heartening is what runs counter to a Globe online straw poll that one new member thought to use as proof....61% of Canadians feel that diversityenriches the Canadian identity and is a national strength.

You missed the most important question:

"We make too many accomodations to visible minorities in Canada"

ACROSS THE BOARD "TOTAL AGREE". Rich, poor, old, young, educated, trailer park... doesn't matter.

So, it's not that Canadians don't want immigration. Canadians just want the visible minorities to quit getting a free ride and receiving accomodation that run-of-the-mill Canadians can only dream of.

Reverse discrimination on a mass scale.

Let's not kid ourselves here. There are lots of various 'identifiable' groups which contain members who will abuse the system - this applies to ALL groups - Eurostock included.

Have folk never heard of white trash?

What is the point of all this catagorizing of individuals then painting them wll with the same brush? What real purpose does that serve? It divides us - those who are divided and fighting amongst themselves are far easier to manipulate and rule that a public who realizes the threat is not from the 'other' down the street, but from the institutions that WE have collectively created and allowed to rule us, like sheep.

Immigration is not the problem, when the economy is good. Not so great when the dollars stop flowing and jobs are being shipped off to low wage backwaters (for easier exploitation of course). So, it's far easier to blame the 'recent arrivals' than to see the real perpetrators of the mess - our own governments in collusion with less savoury 'businesspeople'. I say 'less savoury' because not all are powermad hungry snakes looking to increase pure profit at any cost - some actually care about how they practice their art, some - sadly - not many. :(

Anyway, go ahead, blame the immigrant - it's the time honoured easy way out!! And so much fun!

And the more removed they they are from the mass of immigrants who everyone else is complaining about. Not a coincidence, I think.

I used to live in a lower middle class neighborood across the street from a large public housing complex, and took the bus to work. Immigrants were everywhere, many of them poorly behaved. There was a lot of crime, and a lot of vandalism.

Now that I live in an upper middle class neighborhood with no rental apartments or homes, and don't take public transit, and work in an office, I hardly ever see immigrants except those who are highly skilled, professional and can speak English properly.

Sure, do you want to import more? No? Then why would you want to import Black trash?

There should be almost no undesirables among immigrants because unlike the white trash that is born here we get to pick these people from a long line of those eager to get in.

You can't do anything about your dumb, lazy, crooked, good-for-nothing brother. He was born your brother and he'll always be your brother.

But if you deliberately seek out lazy, crooked, good-for-nothing bums to hang around with and live with, well, what does that say about you?

Since there is an abundance of people looking to get in we shouls hand pick only the very best ones that will serve our needs in industry.

There are far too many people let in on the family aspect and they don't work or do anything but be a burden on our system, that is what has to stop.

Yes...rain or shine....some people, not saying who, only vote when it's convenient.

We don't really know what the immigrants are doing wandering about Canada.

We do know 2 things though.

23% of them are net contributors to Canada.

And the majority of them vote Liberal.

So lets figure out just WHY these people are here.

This is all mostly propaganda exept for the doctor shortage which can be blamed by doctors themselves for leaving Canadians high and dry.

As long as our medical system remains public, doctors will continue to leave Canada for the U.S., basically for greed.

The industries that are crying for help are the ones that don't pay initially namely the hotel and restraunt and somewhat the trucking industries. And we don't need skilled labour to do this kind of work.

We don't need masses of ethnic immigrants for jobs home grown skilled Canadians need.

I agree.

Last I heard we needed factory workers at western sandwich packaging facility. These exceptions are so rare that we'd probably take in 10-20k workers a year under permits.

Anything more is simply saturating our labour market and driving down the lifestyle for Canadians. This especially doens't work under a communist healthcare system.

Forget about abusing the system, what about the laws that have been amended to not apply to immigrants with head gear? This alone causes much of the perception in this latest survey, "We make too many accomodations to visible minorities in Canada".

Government mandated hiring practices are another disaster. The RCMP is now in a deep whole employment wise, and will hire anything that breathes, after a decade of scouring the country for visible minorities that don't mind getting shot at. My brother is 48, diabetic with bad eyes, and he's passed every test they've given, even the physical endurance! They want to hire him, but he got a better offer elsewhere.

All Canadians are not treated equal, plain and simple.

Except the fellow who challenged the law lost. Headgear is still mandatory across the board.

So true. This practice of hiring only special visible minorities is racist.

White person denied job because of skin colour = racism

What, I hadn't heard that. You mean that bicyclists and RCMP members can't wear their turbans anymore?

This doesn't address the hiring practices, however.

Sorry, I thought you were refering to the young Sikh gentleman who wanted to ride his motorcycle without a helmet. He lost his bid.

Sikh RCMP officers who wish to wear their turban may still. And to my knowledge helmets for bicycles are only mandatory for those under 16.

Get back to me when someone was denied a job solely because of their colour.

Could not agree more.

A quick AND VERY SHORT line up of the reasons this happens:

Taxpayers paying to support multiple spouses in Hog Town with welfare payments

Taxpayers paying for english lessons

Taxpayers paying for addition medical expenses from imported additional family members

Taxpayers paying to support medical expenses of imported guests carrying HIV

Taxpayers paying for additional crime control from imported guests - example Black guests in Hog Town - I will call them by colour - the police and media will not.

Taxpayers paying for spurious human rights issues

Taxpayers paying for housing for imported guests

Taxpayers paying to support canadians of convenience when the run into trouble outside this country

Taxpayers paying to support line jumpers and supposed refugees

Taxpayers paying .......

And the beat goes on.

If you come to this country and cannot support yourself within one year of arriving you should be tossed out on your ass.

If you are tossed or do NOT pay taxes to this country you do not get a canadian passport. Find another one - we do not want you or need you.

If that means visible minority - then so be it - if they cannot be a boon to this country they are a drain on our wallets and therefore not an asset but a liablitiy.

23% are a net asset to this country?

That means 77% are not worth retaining.
