The OPP (Fantino) announced that there were 15,000 computers in Ontario distributing child pornography. Maybe there are, but why are we being told this BEFORE the arrests have been made? Its a legitimate question and reeks of a publicity stunt something Fantino has made a career of and why many police officers do not like him or trust him. The issue is of huge importance and should be continually discussed openly but it should never have been done before any arrests precisely for the reasons you stated. Look at what happened to Rocco Galati!I don't know what happened with this case, but the police are one of the guardians of the justice system (the Ministries, judges and lawyers are the others) and it seems to me that any case involving them should be expedited as a bulwark to the entegrity of the system and that a delay like this should be scrutinized. There are a lot of damned fine lawyers out there and damned fine cops too. But no system should be left to its own devices. In my personal opinion, Rocco Gelati is simply a criminal defence lawyer who has made a career defending certain cases that he knows are going to be high profile because I suspect it gets him the publicity he wants and an inside advantage in certain ethnic communities to get client referrals. I suspect he panders to secure future clients. But then I am a cynic. But I say the same thing about Clayton Ruby, Tim Danson, and many other lawyers who love the limelight and I concede it may be unwarranted and just my cynicism.
