Oleg Bach Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 Do you remember when Harper was in full election mode? Back when he was the silly kid wanting to be the top dog? When he wore the very nice cowboy out fit as if he was dressed by his Aunt Ruth in order to knock em dead at the birthday party at Chucky Cheese? There was one bit of body language that I noticed Harper using..there was a worker showing him how something was done..he staggered back half a step and put his hands in his pockets. He reminded my of the younger unrehearsed George Bush - when George was a ditherer. But like all poor rock star types with no real abity - they are groomed untill they create the illusion that there is something there. Before you know it they are playing air guitar with great flourish and the audience actually beleive it's real. Harper has a real good tailor, I will grant him that and he enjoys stepping off the private jet and walking up to the cameras to comment on Bhuttos assasination - only after waiting for three hours to see what Bush's handlers concocted for him. Of course Harper waited for Bush to speak first so as to get their stories straight. Those that called Paul Martin Mr. Dithers seem not to have noticed that Harper is just a younger version. I liked Harper at first..and still like the idea of a conservative federal government, but he has become so artifically confident and smooth - that it bugs me. The fact is when you take a not so cool guy and you put him center stage - ego and pride will give him the look of grace and confidence. Power is like an elixer - fed to a puppy will create a raging and noble lion. Well - when I look into Harpers eyes I still see a puppy and a kid that would have rather been a hockey star. There is not really that much to the man..but clothes do make the man - as does high office..wonder what kind of Prime Minister he would have been if he was not so hand picked and professionally formulated for the role - maybe a great one. I have also thought in a similar manner what the real George Bush would have been like - He naturally has a kind heart and loving manner..but it was never allowed to be shown or used. He was groomed for the cold post as the centre stage player and being human is not permitted - especially when a nation like America has to maintain the deception of being the worlds super power. I bet if these guys were to be themselves they may have actually improved things - but when you are out of your natural state and element - the best you can do is fake it - but during the faking dithering occurs - dithering is the side effect of being a figure head that's nervous about the bad guys back stage that hold your strings. I suppose we will have to put up with Stevie for the duration. Just wish that the men that installed him would become less private and more public and maybe even run for Prime Minister - sure would be nice to see the real guys up there - but that's to much like work for the real dithering ones that we will never see. Our hidden wizard of Oz boys. Getting back to Bush - if falling off your bike in a drunken haze - not once but three times is not dithering - then I don't know what is. So what do you think of Harper? Better yet - I wonder what he thinks of the job - not what he expected - he looks tired and frazzled - more dithering will come. Quote
noahbody Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 Getting back to Bush - if falling off your bike in a drunken haze - not once but three times is not dithering - then I don't know what is. I think you made that point thoughout your post. You have no idea what dithering means. Quote
Oleg Bach Posted January 13, 2008 Author Report Posted January 13, 2008 I think you made that point thoughout your post. You have no idea what dithering means. That's because I have noticed that I am begining to dither. It's kind of an uncomfortable thought - I have recently turned 57 and I notice the other day - I am getting older. A bit of a shock to Peter Pan. One thing that dithering people do not know is that they dither..so because I did notice it in myself I would be classed as a semi-ditherer. Getting to like you guys - you are a no nonsense smart bunch. It's refreshing to be put in my place...but go easy on me. After all I may live long enough to collect a pension - then I will dither all over the place at your expense. Quote
sharkman Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 I have this theory. About the rules around here. I can remember when using the name Mr. Dithers was not allowed. But now it appears that the rules have been relaxed, someone recently used the word idiot in a sentence, and the sky did not fall on them. Not that I mind, as long as the rules are evenly applied. It feels like a hockey player suddenly realizing early into the second period that the ref has put the whistle in his pocket. I'm drawing a bead on Dion... Quote
