Is it time for Toronto to vote Conservative?

Recommended Posts

Mayor David Miller says that for years, the Federal Government has done very little to help the City of Toronto. We hear from the Star that the Tories "don't care about the cities". But the fact is that Liberals have dominated the GTA and other major cities for ages, most recently through three Chretien majorities and the ill-fated Martin regime. With all those MP's, through all those years, why were the cities ignored by these Liberal governments who now are supposedly crumbling under our feet? Perhaps Toronto-area voters are collective masochists who enjoy being used as election fodder. If there has been neglect, it has been long-term neglect - a lack of vision that falls mainly at the feet of past Liberal governments.

Isn't it time that Toronto voters give the Conservatives a chance? How can Toronto be heard in Ottawa if they have no representation......and the same applies to Vancouver and Montreal, although I must admit, they don't seem to whine as much as Toronto's socialist mayor.

I think we will see more NDP MPs in all three cities.

A few Conservatives may come up the middle.

As the campaign goes on and the Liberal infighting increases in ferocity we will see some Liberal losses in all three cities for sure.

It is the MTV voters that are keeping Liberals on life support. If they move forget Official Opposition, never mind Government.

It has been time for years - however the immigrant vote has been financially encouraged by Liberal largess for years. Unlikely to happen.

Remember when liberals would hang out at fund raisers for the Tamil Tigers untill they were deemed a terrorist out fit? Remember when immigrants arrived in toronto and were told if they did not vote liberal the rest of the family would not be allowed in - remember when Belinda Stronach got in as a liberal and a conserative - with the help of a petrfied population of east indian subdivision immigrants who were afraid to vote for anyone but her - seeing they had some real tough looking brown guys to show them the way...liberal toronto? I wonder if the liberals have worn out the gay vote...most of them seem to be aging and not breeding more liberal gays - odd how that happens...so maybe what is left of the liberal gay vote in Toronto ---maybe the conservatives can get that - but dressing more trendy..but not that Harpers black leather vest cowboy look ----wait a sec....Harper was ahead of his time - He could get that gay vote no problem..hope he can find that cowboy hat and black leather vest..

Yeah I remember all of that. A lot of it the media wont talk about. The Liberals AGAIN just recently were at another Tamil Tiger fundraiser.

People really need to realize that the Libearl party is an immigrant/french based party right now. They have nothing outside of those two special interests.

Correct..as far as social programs - all have failed - funny - I thought I was the only one to notice gangsters behind the poduim at the Belinda victory party....talk about poorly behaved wanna be politicals. They should get with it...either those Tamils are bad boys or they are not...frankly the tamil vote could go conservative is some intelligent candidate would mention the fact - that not once did any of these rebels from the former Cylon - ever consider attacking Canada - so this false terrorist tag is a ruse....may as well unruse it and use it -

I mean the tamils...besides they cut good hair and are very kind to me...what's with the magazines with weaponry in the barber shop all about? Oh well - after dealing with liberal policy in toronto...it's nasty - you would think they would let those with ability rise up a bit and earn a living...but nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn00000000..we have to all be the same and equal...I've been her for 56 years and a I don't need to take pre-employment classes with a guy who got here 10 minutes ago - but I must say - I enjoyed it none the less - gets you out of the house.

Back to the thread - Who has the mind and abilty to move the liberal Toronto mindset over to a conservative way of thinking? What leader do you have that can utilize the established immigrant vote that does not want more immigration - that might be key. Just make sure you have all your ducks in a row and that the liberals bring in all the lost uncles and nephews and brothers and sisters to unite with families all ready here and then slam the immigration door shut - that should do it - and as far as all the soviet style day care lovers - bribe them.

I wonder if that is a necessity.

It appears more and more likely that we will see vote splitting on the left between the Greens, NDP and the remnants of the Liberals.

Here are five GTA ridings that are a good chance for the CPC to pick up with some vote splitting.

Etobicoke-Lakeshore (wouldn't Bob Rae love it if Ignatieff lost his seat)

Don Valley West

Mississauga Erindale

Mississauga South

Oakville.

Add those five seats to another five or so in the rest of Ontario, another 15 more in Quebec, plus five more in the West. Boom majority.

.

While only 2 of those ridings are in Toronto...Etobicoke Lakeshore last had PC MP back in the 80s....Pat Boyer. An honest man.

Oh what do you know. I google Pat to see what he was up to....

In March of 2007, Boyer was successfully nominated to stand as the Conservative Party of Canada candidate for the riding of Etobicoke-Lakeshore in the next federal election.

I honestly hope Patrick wins. I know him and he has what anyone would want in their MP.

So you figure they could be technically disected and dismantled...pit Ignatieff against the wanna be aged pop singer Rae? I did not know that Ignatieff actually won a seat in Etobicoke - thought he was appointed one? - You could tinker about - and it may be a waste of time...You need someone that is totally poitically incorrect to real lay down the truth hot and heavey. I noticed that no one during the last election made an effort of really discussing issues - and ridding us completley of abusive policy..for instance - the abusive family law system in Ontario - where woman and men and children are commodified and twisted into poverty and unhappiness...seeing that there are a million people damaged by this monoploy that liberals supported that was responsible for males and females leaping off high way over passes and tossing babe into rivers after enduring liberal eccentric family law policy - I say you could remove the liberal just on that issue...no problem.

Is that saying that you can only be heard if you vote the sitting government in? I thought any federal government that gets elected is supposed to represent and do for the whole country.

Not the Liberals.

Their unofficial campaign slogan was "Screw The West: We'll Win the Rest." in one of Trudeau's elections...

Toronto does not need to be heard in Ottawa. If there is a call out of Toronto it is one asking for money and not one to discuss or resolve issues. Toronto is much like ancient Rome..it is a large city state. Toronto is a nation within a nation..much like Quebec..The only thing Toronto needs or wants from the feds is cash - not rule.

there's that inferiority complex again....

Trudeau running again? I thought he was dead?...speaking of that man..yes I was joking, I know he is faded into history and far in the future people will look at his image and cringe "what? they said he was a handsome and attactive man" or look at some footage and say " Charisma - what damn charisma?" - remember some old school conservatives describing Peter True dugh as the shark that never sleeps - the feared this rascal with the pointed mutated face - that really did look like a shark..shook hands with him once..real cold cold hands.

I think this is extremely unlikely.

In fact, I just read in the Globe that Toronto figures Harper has pretty much written off not only 416 but the normally vote rich 905 too!

I think your leader is a little out of step with your desires, Oleg!

What 905! Gadzookes! That use to be my old area pre subdivisional collectivism. Was a great meadow on top the Oak Ridge where I was raised...and what's his name Harper was a product of after the war housing for commisioned officers but NOT generals..Leaside I believe..and me being the nut that lobbied on talk radio for three solid months prior the election to oust the libs - am a bit disappointed in little Stevie Harper...really thought that him and Rona Ambrose would kick some real liberal butt..but no.

..Rona had good hair and that was it - I really like good hair and would have loved to see a female as Harpers right hand man woman..but they both let me down..with that whole suck up to big buisness instead of containing it and assisting in imporving the quality of attitude that is wanting withing the buisness world at the high end...don't think I have a leader at present..sure would like one...and the hair won't matter this time nor will the innocent and kind boyish demeanor so easily taken advantage of through pride.

Funny thing about the "immigrant vote" going to the Liberals by default.....in general, immigrants are almost exclusively Conservative by nature. The first generation of immigrants just haven't been able to get over the brain-washing that the Liberals gave them over the last dozen or so years. When a majority government is constantly accusing a devided right of being intolerant of peoples rights and liberty, its easy to see how they would continue to vote for the party that let them in. Many of our "new" immigrants are not so new anymore. They are also not stupid. More and more, they are starting to see through the power hungry veneer of the rudderless Liberals and are willing to at least consider the Conservatives.....and the more thay kick the tires, the more that they see that they have a lot in common - families, justice, less government - these are Conservative values - but they also just happen to be immigrant values. Second generation immigrants, when they reach voting age, will have a clear conscience in choosing a party. My bets are on Conservatives being able to slowly turn the immigrant ship around and dock it in a harbour that is more in tune with their conservative nature. Time will tell.

Pandering to communities by attending functions that glorify extremist is often an all party affair:

"The parade included children wearing jackets with the rifle logo of the International Sikh Youth Federation, a banned terrorist organization...

As for the parade, it was attended by B.C. Premier Gordon Campbell, Conservative MPs Nina Grewal and Jim Abbott, Liberal MP Sukh Dhaliwal and NDP MP Penny Priddy."

Stop glorifying terror, MP urges
