  1. Sometimes frustrated politicians can get out of the salesman character and offer sobering and truthful assessment of issues. This is exactly what happened the other day when John Kerry blamed Israel for the problems with the peace process. Kerry walked committee members through the steps that had led to last week’s crisis in the talks – beginning with a decision by Israel to delay a promised release of 26 Palestinian prisoners who had been involved in past terrorist attacks, unless the negotiations continued beyond the April 29 end-date. Both sides worked toward a deal to make that happen, Kerry said. “A day went by. Day two went by. Day three went by. And then in the afternoon, when they were about to maybe get there, 700 settlement units were announced in Jerusalem and, poof, that was sort of the moment,” he said. Of course, now, the US is saying that Kerry blamed both sides in order not to anger donors and lobbyists in Washington too much. The current Israeli government has become its own worst enemy. Their arrogance and disconnect has resulted in more sympathy towards the Palestinian cause. More and more countries are distancing themselves from the Ultra-Zionist regime, which has done what it can to derail any progress in a just peace settlement with the Palestinians. Simply because any kind of negotiation and settlement would result in abandoning their decades long policy of having control over most of the area and to never allow a Palestinian State - Which happens to be part of the platform of the Likud party. Likud Party Charter states: a. “The Jordan river will be the permanent eastern border of the State of Israel.” b. “Jerusalem is the eternal, united capital of the State of Israel and only of Israel. The government will flatly reject Palestinian proposals to divide Jerusalem” c. “The Government of Israel flatly rejects the establishment of a Palestinian Arab state west of the Jordan river.” d. “The Jewish communities in Judea, Samaria and Gaza are the realization of Zionist values. Settlement of the land is a clear expression of the unassailable right of the Jewish people to the Land of Israel and constitutes an important asset in the defense of the vital interests of the State of Israel. The Likud will continue to strengthen and develop these communities and will prevent their uprooting.”
