  1. Thanks for voting in my poll.  The thread is locked, but you can still vote.

A better poll would be "should Charles still be a mod?"

Your breasts? So that's a picture of you with Trudeau? You're even more of a wannabe Canadian than I thought.

But you're not in Rome. You're in America on a forum hosted in America. So that doesn't even make sense.

Another fine example of an American who "doesn't" care about Canada and its politics.

I don't care what wrong-headed ideas Canadians have about our electoral system. We don't vote for the prime minister, period. Consideration or not, that isn't how our system works. In fact, the PM could step down as leader of the party and someone else takes their place....completely unelected, as was the case with Kim Campbell or Ernie Eaves (as Premier of Ontario). The only individual we elect are our parliamentarians and MLAs or MPPs.

Oh, right. I'm whining. Pointing out that Clinton got nearly 3 million more votes than Trump is whining. No. It's an inconvenient truth. Talking about votes concentrated in one area or another is also a moot point, since the we're talking about a national election for one role that everyone votes for. Comparing it to our elections is also irrelevant because there is no corollary in Canadian politics.

If 100% of Alberta votes for Harper there's a problem, since we don't vote for the Prime Minister.

If someone gets nearly 3 million more votes than the winner, it's tough to say the winner is the democratic choice.

You keep saying it's the same and the entire point is it's not, both qualitatively and empirically.

msj, except the difference is empirically true; the data is available. Both tuition and mortgages have outpaced wages several fold.

It's harming the economy, making growth more difficult. You can't say that people who went through university 20 years ago are experiencing the same things as people graduating today. Tuition has exploded. A summer job doesn't cover school. The housing market also exploded. Mortgage debt is even higher, relative to income than it was even 15 years ago. It's a different world.

By the bye, it doesn't affect me but it's pretty rich to see Trudeau selling out the people who supported him most. Sunny ways...until there's actually work to be done. Then, too bad, so sad...that's the "new reality."

Pay off tens of thousands of dollars of student debts to get into mortgage debts with no pensions and no job security anymore. It's a problem. It's crippling the economy it's such a big problem. But Trudeau won't even address it.

Might as well keep ignoring the problem then. It's too big for Trudeau to handle.
