The biggest thing missed on Healthcare
Big Blue Machine replied to wm009's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It won't happen, the federal govenrment will never take over all of health care. Plus, taking health care away from the provinces would be taking away a right from them. They are the ones who supply health care, not the feds. -
We need to talk more about education.

It would cost too much to reform the whole education system. -
Gay vs. Animal Marriage?
Big Blue Machine replied to Fickler's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
We shouldn't lower the consentual age to 14. If anything we should raise it to 18. When people turn 18, they can do almost anything. Sex shouldn't come before beer and voting. -
Municipalities Next at Federal Trough
Big Blue Machine replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Shouldn't the provinces deal with the cities? The feds give the provinces the money for the cities. -

It's too late now to say it was illegal. -
The same Tory government offered full compensation for HIV blood victims, no matter what the year.

The biggest thing missed on Healthcare
Big Blue Machine replied to wm009's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
We can't give all health care to the federal government either. They are too big for local issues with health care, like say family doctors. The federal government should just pay up the money, and let the provinces do what they want with health care. Just don't get sick in one of the provinces with privite care. -

The federal government can't cut the rest of the funding to health care fro the provinces. The burden would be too much. They would have to raise taxes alot to pay for the health care spending. The federal governemtn should pay at least 25% of the health care costs for the provinces. -
I need information about the War in Danfur.
Big Blue Machine posted a topic in The Rest of the World
I am going to a debate, in the model UN model debating, and the topic for my council is War in Westren Sudan. I have alittle knowledge about this. Everyone doesn't want to call it the dirty word "Genocide" and everyone doesn't want to get involved. Except the US, I have heard that US is trying to get a resultion passed by the UN to block trade with Sudan. If you people can give more info about the war in Sudan. It would be greatly helpful. This is going to be my 2nd debate. In my first one, I jumped in at the last minute, and the topic was the Columbia and how messed up it was. I was Bangladesh, I was thinking "WHAT THE HECK DOES BANGLADESH HAVE TO DO IT WITH COLUMBIA??????" But I did respectably , finished either 4th or 5th out of 8. I think I will do better this time. -
We need to pay more attention to education. Health care has been the monster of all provincial government costs, usually at least a third or in Ontario's case 45%. Its good to be healthy. but health won't get you into your job in the future and post-secondary education. I personally think we should test teachers. Please don't call me a moron or stupid or an idiot. Its my opinion. I think we should work with the teachers, and at the last resort, ban them from striking. They are an essential service to the public. There are also many downfalls in the system that need to be adressed. I have a stories to tell about teachers. Last year, I was in grade 10. I wa taking university math. My teacher is awful. She only showed us one way to do it, that was her way. If we didn't understand her way, she wouldn't go into another ways to do to a problem. I got an 80% at the end of the course, thanks in part to a tutor. Another story is one that I heard from a person. She had been a nurse all her life, and decided she wanted to be a teacher. This person was usually doing 12 hours shift, and when she got into teaching, she told me about what some teachers do. One teacher only marks the first two sentences in an essay. If the sentences are good, good mark, and if they are bad, bad mark. We need to get these 'teachers' out of teaching. But the union is so powerful that we can't do that. What do you people think?

Should Canada do more in Space?
Big Blue Machine replied to Big Blue Machine's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Ok, maybe not 50/50, but we should share some of the costs like 20/80. -
It will that Canada and America should combine their space programs, and Canada and America should 50/50 the costs. That way we share the space information. Plus, we don't have to have our single programs.

I believe the Iraq war was right but the Republican's reasons for going to war were wrong. Everyone hated Saddam, and most people believed he had SOME weapons of mass destruction. But I don't believe that he was going to use the weapons soon. Yes, Saddam should have been taken out of power. The fact that Iraq has a large amount of oil would be coincidence. It wouldn't be the main reason for the war. If Bush had explained that Saddam needed to be removed because he had been bad to his people and he made them suffer. Then he could have got some UN support. Then the war would have been better fought.

Canadians won't accept honest politicans. They don't want to hear about cut-backs.

Maybe the opposition should try harder.

NDP Rebirth in Alberta
Big Blue Machine replied to maplesyrup's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Alberta won't go to the NDP. It's the most conservative province in the country. -
He will probably be arrogant enough to act like he had a majority
