It is not the punishment method that works. It is the way how the system designed that controls the crime rate. When a system that has defined too many behavior as crime, so that too many people be defined as criminals, that simplify the legal peocess only according to the finial action, do not care about the fundamental reason that make lots of people to perform those action that has been listed in the criminal code, don't think more on making poor people able to live better life on their own, don't punish those who legaly bully others and rob others legaly, and kidnap others legaly, there will be people who will risk to crime, who will become mantally ill, who can not control their anger, who will do extream for money, and more. The way to reduce crime rate is to make the society more fair, make more people more happy, no punishment can solve the problem if you youself don't like to be threaten.

Statistics always misleading when it have political purpose, just like this one: http://www.mapleleafweb.com/forums//index.php?showtopic=17143 Democracy need vote, so lies are always everywhere trying to keep the voters from truth.

IMO, there are interest groups that can control governments who want drugs. If they can block Iran from getting weapons, why they can not do it in Mexico, if they can launch a war in Iraq, why they are not able to do it in Columbia? Drugs can help them sell guns, drugs can help them fill jails, drugs can help lawyers, judges, cops have more works, drugs can help politician have more options to change topic and to set focus on, That is the reason why lots of people profit on drugs. evils of cause, they don't want to destroy drug farms, just want send more who consume drugs to jails.

Study Calls for Universal Pharmacare Plan

See another example of results of the "research-based studies" By the way, I don't know if canada allow drug advertising or not, but how much is the budge the gov used for promote H1N1 shot. I think your religion-like trust to the "research-based studies" is nothing different from those who trust voodoo. -

Anyone who go to see a family doctor should pay 1 dollar each time. That will reduce those who go to see doctors for nothing but just waste other's time in queue and help health evils rob tax money. -

Anything that cause more monopoly and make competition harder will lead to increase of robbery from tax payers to feed greedy health industry and make people who work more like slaves. -
Cell phones in Ontario classrooms

More evils will try to change the content and rewrite history in the palm library, like say colonist did not kill 100 millions aboriginals in Americas. And the "dumb kids" will not have any skill or knowledge on how to decide what is true and what is false except what is in the library and what is not there, they will trust those others trust, just like believe heavy things will hit ground faster than light things in Aristotle times, until the world controlled by a super powerful guy who control all the information and make all others slaves... -
Cell phones in Ontario classrooms

When I was in elementary school, all my classmates can calculate 85*85 in one second, because 85 * 85 = 7225, 8*9=72, 5*5=25, you can calculate 55*55=3025 in one second with the same method. now I never meet any kid know this. an easy 532654 * 43767 can take a kid here more than 10 times more time than kids in my time and make lots of mistakes if you don't give them a calculator. -

The calculator makes kids lost their ability in arithmetic. The computer automatically spelling checking and sound recognizing technology will make kids lost their ability in spelling. The mobile communication at hand will makes kids lost writing ability other than copy / send / paste. More and more time spent on learning easy "technology" of countless shallow knowledge, like how to use some particular software, will make kids lost time to learn more deep more basic principles that could support them to a high level. But who cares, politicians care only money and tax. they don't care if the kids will become silly and silly. How many Canadian kids get award in international competitions? how many patent Canada applied for each year? I think the number will decline further. -

Politicians work for interest groups, they work for interest groups to take more money, Rogers and Bell and other big businesses will be able to take more, government will take more tax, that is all. Even when it will damage the kids, even when it will destroy the future, who cares. -
politicians always have passion on such kind of things to waste tax dollars that pay their salary. No matter ban or not ban, no real problems solved. It is much easier than economy, jobless rate and others. Corporate controlled media help to make such topic focused. This is so called democracy. useless.

xul, ToadBrother, M.Dancer 's favourate China topic
bjre replied to bjre's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Since it was made during the war, the purpose can strongly be doubted. I strongly suspect it was for the purpose of liberate slaves, it is obvious that drive slave away strongly destroy the southern economy that can provide the south supplies for the war that the south rely on. According to the novel wherever the north go, they destroyed railways, burning farms, rob foods, burning cottons, so that people have nothing to eat and nothing to wear that slaves had to go, so that the economy become hard to resume. The conclusion is, only when release slaves was good for north's own interest, they would do it. That is why. -

The war started in 1861, that law was after that, it is clearly the law is not the reason for the war. it is not the original purpose or intention, even if the result looks positive. -
Canadian privacy legislation? It is always when victim want to discuss, the organization who take tax dollars always want privacy to hide their ugliness.

xul, ToadBrother, M.Dancer 's favourate China topic
bjre replied to bjre's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
There was also a war fought to liberate those slaves... Your analogy is clueless... But from the novel point of the view, the war is not for liberate those slaves: So, it is the south launched the war first. More over, the war is for land: And those land were robbed from aboriginal people and others. "Liberate slave" is only a term like "Freedom", "Human rights", "Iraq has WMD", "Global warming cause by Human activity", "H1N1 pandemic", when need to fight a war or ask people to spend for other reasons, they can find any reason. If it was for liberate the blacks, why Martin Luther King still need to "have a dream" in 1963? The White house was build with the help of slaves, if Lincoln hate slavery, he should move out of the white House and find another place to be his president office. -
You are not able to do that, because the corporate media control the mind of most people, even you vote the guys out, others guys are just the same, no guy like you is able to be voted because you will not be able to help those interest groups to rob more money from tax payers, so your opinion will not be in main stream corporate control media. This is western style of "democracy".

The bureaucracy use the privacy laws to hide horrible things so that they help interest groups, who are as the sponsors for the elections, to rob more money from tax payers. They make most investigation a impossible task by take advantage of the laws.

I can not expect you give any better opinion. Who can expect a frog in a well give a big picture of the sky.

[ quote ] All arguments must be submitted in writing and will be sealed. Any related documents will also be kept out of the public domain. Public discussion of the arguments is also forbidden under the ruling. “Bureaucracies feel the information they have belongs to them, when in fact the information belongs to the public.” “The horrors of Canada are well hidden,” Coralee Smith told the Star. “What’s going on behind closed doors with the Correctional Service of Canada is horrible.” [ /quote ] http://www.thestar.com/news/investigations/government/article/856262--coroner-limits-probe-of-teen-s-prison-suicide?bn=1 What is the meaning of Freedom? Is that means strong people can bully weak people freely, but weak people have no right to talk about that?

There are people do care. But corporate controlled media care about their own interest and they have great affection to many people that is efficient to change the result of vote.

Better a diamond with a flaw, than a pebble without.
-
No, I don't know if that is true or not and I don't care. What I care about is how will he solve the problems we face, how to make our life earlier instead of harder. But I did not find corporate controlled media focus on that, I think they are more interested in blame others and discover dirty.

That is not my logic, when Mark Twain wrote that story, I was not even born. And look at this: http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/torontomayoralrace/article/850753--liberals-scramble-to-help-george-smitherman-stop-rob-ford?bn=1 Again only blame others, nothing about constructive problem solving again. Dirty games, that is so called democracy. By the way, you and xul seems good at the same thing.
