Meme/Cartoon of the Day
ironstone replied to WestCanMan's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I found the meme, I didn't created it. And I think this meme is funny. It's like you don't recognize anyone pictured on it, don't know the back story, or are clueless about irony. -

Its official - the shooter was a democrat.
ironstone replied to CdnFox's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
It seems that as far as presidential assassinations and attempts go, they come mainly from one side. https://anncoulter.com/2024/07/18/hey-are-those-bullets-in-your-npr-tote/ MSNBCโs Joy Reid called Trump โthe greatest purveyor and promoter of political violence, really, since anyone can remember.โ Pro tip for Biden defenders: Maybe donโt bring up peopleโs ability to remember things. Iโm not sure how to measure who the biggest โpurveyor and promoter of political violenceโ is, but I can do a body count. And when it comes to political violence, the left beats the living daylights out of the right, so to speak, Granted, weโre only 248 years into this experiment, but so far, every single shooting of a national politician in the U.S. has been committed by a person on the left โ or someone even more deranged than a liberal. -

https://anncoulter.com/2024/07/18/hey-are-those-bullets-in-your-npr-tote/ Before you start wailing about how we โalmost lost our democracy on Jan. 6,โ that was the only right-wing mob violence in U.S. history. And weโll never hear the end of it. Your grandchildren will be in nursing homes and Jan. 6 will still be at the top of the news feed. Pretty weak tea, compared to the epic violence exhibited the previous year by BLM protesters, ginned up by the police-hating media. Jan. 6 carnage: One person died โ protester Ashley Babbitt, who was killed in cold blood by a black Capitol Police officer for trespassing; and $2.7 million in property damage. BLM carnage: 25 deaths, thousands of injured law enforcement officers, hundreds more hospitalized, $2 billion worth of property damage, and torched stores, neighborhoods and police precincts. https://fee.org/articles/george-floyd-riots-caused-record-setting-2-billion-in-damage-new-report-says-here-s-why-the-true-cost-is-even-higher/ https://www.westernjournal.com/blms-mostly-peaceful-riots-cost-1000x-damage-jan-6-capitol-unrest/ https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/12698554/george-floyd-protests-2billion-damage/ https://www.nj.com/news/2020/05/these-are-all-the-cities-where-protests-and-riots-have-erupted-over-george-floyds-death.html

If she says she condemns violence, why did she take action to bail out protesters which included some who were acting violently? As for bail issues, it's a fair point to talk about the accused's financial status. It's also fair to bring up the bail reforms tried in some Democrat states where violent offenders are back on the street in no time. There are instances where some people should be held without bail because they are such a high risk. https://nypost.com/2021/12/03/new-york-cashless-bail-follows-with-multiple-injuries-deaths/ We knew the media would tout Harris as the tough as nails prosecutor, but her record on crime is all over the place.

The Minnesota Freedom Fund. Court records show that the Harris-endorsed MFF was used to bail out violent criminals, including Shawn Michael Tillman of St. Paul, who was sentenced to life in prison this March for first- and second-degree murder. George Howard, another man that the MFF freed, pleaded guilty in 2023 to second-degree murder for shooting and killing another man in 2021 in Minneapolis. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/kamala-harris-backed-bail-fund-that-freed-violent-criminals-back-in-spotlight/ar-BB1qqZoK

I never suggested that any side has a monopoly on violence and rhetoric, merely that it seems to be rather more common on one side. Jan 6 get's mentioned constantly while far more numerous BLM/Antifa riots get glossed over. The new Democrat presidential nominee actually said that those rioters 'should not stop'. She also helped to get them bailed out too.

Who is Worse, Trudeau or Biden?
ironstone replied to WestCanMan's topic in Canada / United States Relations
Perhaps Trudeau is worse because he isn't subject to term limits. Most of my friends dislike Trudeau as do I, but most of them also can't stand Trump while they have a high opinion of Biden. We are all influenced to some degree by the news sources we rely on and I know they all watch CTV, Global or the CBC which mimic their US counterparts with the constant negative coverage of Trump. Most of them are likely unaware of anything negative stories regarding Joe. -
Rasmussen Poll Finds Illegal Votes In Mass
ironstone replied to gatomontes99's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Voter ID is a contentious issue. To me it is perfectly reasonable to ask someone to present some form of acceptable ID in order to vote. Which of the two main parties is claiming that requiring ID is a form of voter suppression? Which of the two main parties is starting to push for allowing non citizens to vote in elections? -

Voter roll error map. https://publicinterestlegal.org/issues/voter-roll-error-map/ It's funny that anyone could claim that Republicans and Democrats have a similar position on cleaning up the voter rolls. -

Governments at all levels tend to have a lot of highly paid employees. Why would they be so reluctant to go the extra mile to clean up voter rolls? Democrats routinely use the 'existential threat to democracy' line against Trump. Shouldn't up to date voter rolls be the first line of defense in the fight against threats to election integrity? -
The Republicans can use the 'Kamala, in her own words' line of attack. There is a lot to work with when her actual record is exposed. What Tulsi Gabbard did to Harris on the debate stage would be a brilliant attack ad. Harris is on record wanting to bail out BLM/Antifa rioters. She failed miserably as 'border czar'. Her reputation as the tough prosecutor is also full of holes. Her voting record as a Senator was even farther left than Bernie Sanders. Going after her relationship history is dangerous because that would likely make her a sympathetic figure for a lot of voters.
