Reverend, why is the BC Provincial New Democratic Party not in favor of proportional representation? For that mater, are any other Provincial NDPers?

Who says we have to compromise? If things don't change in our favour to a certain extent (and in Quebec's) you could very well see the end of Confederation in under a generation......... When's the next Quebec provincial election? And can people outside of Quebec donate to the PQ?

My God, we agree (somewhat) on another idea Reverend Blair........In all reality, I doubt a real Western separatist movement could take hold outside of Alberta until Quebec leaves, and the urban voters in the lower mainland see that it's possable. Thats not to say that we shouldn't start planting the seeds.......and who said anything about taking Saskatchewan or Manitoba?

According to the election last night, two of the three "regions" within Canada disagree.

I don't see that as a reach at all. And thats why some in Quebec and the West want to leave........what it the alternative, we have seen that the east is not willing to loosen their grip on power, so why shouldn't the West and Quebec just let go? Let the East become King $hit of Turd Hill.......

Why? The East doesn't mind taking our money, but when it comes to respecting our values and views, we our made out to be some sort of combination of Archie Bunker/Hitler/Bush, religious nuts.........so again, why do we need the East? Tell you what, you stop sending money west, and we will stop sending it east...........this furthers my point that the West, East and Quebec should all go Dutch....... Why should the West continue to sit idle and allow the East to walk all over us? Actions speak louder then words......the East has proven nothing but their disdain to us, but when it comes to us wanting to leave, they call us childish....why is that?

Extreme elements cut both ways now don't they? How about a Western nation that uses proportional representation? I'd think that in a nation made-up of BC/Alberta/Yukon, the Large Left leaning population in Greater Vancouver and the Island, could come close to balancing the mostly right wing rural voters in BC, added to the right wing voters in Alberta. The very Canadian notion, or the very Eastern notion? We in the west contiune to get it over the barrel......the only sharing is amongest the Easterners, and thats over who gets the 2x4 to smack us with.

I'm the first to admit that I can be found 9 times out of 10 on the right wing, but I don't think western seperation should be just a "right-wing western thing", but a "entire western thing".........Western left wingers included. I'd even go as far as to say that in a western government, western NDPers/Greens/ and even Libs would have their voice heard more.......

Why should speration not be an option? I'm the first to admit that one year ago, I thought the Bloc/PQ were a bunch of "cry babies ", but I'm now starting to feel empathy towards the people of Quebec........Perhaps the best this for the West would be a Quebec vote on sovereignty, for the simple reason as it could be the catalyst the West needs to go our own way. I understand why you don't want it as an option........Ontario and the Atlantic provinces would lose a major chunk of revenue.

Perhaps Blackdog is right, the 70% of (eastern) Canadians don't share the same values as thw west.... maybe the "30% minority" should look towards a divorce, I'm getting more and more in favor of that option every day......As I see it right now, Ontario has abused wife syndrome.......let's make sure we (as in the west) don't end up in the emergency room with a fat lip and black eye, asking for the bastard that tuned us to take us back...... I'd love my vision of a Conservative Canada, but based on the view point of 70% (or the East), we don't have the same views.....Since I doubt this will ever change, I don't see any reason why we shouldn't.

and This is simple, as I've said above, once a nation gets nuclear weapons, the United States can no longer deal with them as easily. In the case of North Korea, they have nuclear weapons, and because of that, the United States needs to walk on egg shells, that is until they deploy ABM.

I'd be a liar if I didn't say i was disapointed with the end results, but we did pick-up seats, the Liberals lost seats, and hopefully we can start planning a stratagy for the next election that will allow us to see a more positive end result.....

If/When Pakistan is overthrown, Iran develops nukes, and North Korea produces enough to pose a major threat is enough reasons wh yto build ABM.........and in the case of Pakistan, they very well could be under the control of what one would call a terrorists..... And no, you are not going to intercept an ICBM with an aircraft....... Nobody said or is saying that ABM is going to defend directly against terrorists............as for missile on missile, the Patriot (which is a 30+ year old design) had a perfect record against Iraqi missiles in the recent gulf war.
