  1. Since Krusty has laboured to keep this on topic WRT legal rights and wrongs, what resolutions has Israel broken caesar? Also, what UN resolutions gave the threat of punishment to Israel if they didn't comply with the said resolutions?
  2. Are you saying that none union enviroments are unsafe? If I'm correct in assuming this, perhaps you could provide some sort of statistics or something of the like? Jealousy? I've done the "union thing" and didn't find it (in my experinces) in any way, shape or form superior to a none union enviroment. Infact, the slight raise in pay didn't make-up for the lack of "work". Define properly.
  3. So? Some people have it easier and some don't.......remember that part about life being fair? Are you saying that only "rich" people work hard? I'll ask again, why should the slacker be given the free ride? Also if there is no incentive to work hard, how do we know that the numbers of students that apply themselves in school (or life) won't decline? Where's the irony exactly? Life isn't fair.......but that doesn't mean that anybody (that I know of) wants to make it harder So I ask again, why should my tax dollars go towards an investment (a post secondary education) for somebody that is just "going through the motions", if that? I don't mind my tax dollars going towards any persons basic, grade 1-12 education, since that will give a person the basic tools to go in whatever direction that there life might take. After that, education is an investment in ones future, and the definition of the word investment is "the outlay of money usually for income or profit". In this case, the profit is a person that will benefit society. So I ask you this, do you make it a habit to throw good money after bad?
  4. You asked in the post that I replyed to who was the moron, the none union worker with .75 raise or the Union worker who had received a five dollar raise. I countered (in the post you quoted) with a real life situation. Again, and I'll type slower so as not to confuse you, who is doing better in BC? A union labourer at Victoria Shipyards or a labourer in a none union enviroment?
  5. So if another person is the one doing the stirring, you would not want to try and dodge it?
  6. My curiosity is getting the better of me here, but how many posters on this site/thread belong to or have once belonged to a Union? Who's the real "moron"? The person that works year round for 10.75 hr or the guy that works 6 months of the year for 15 hr and collects EI for the rest? An even better example for who's the real moron, is a twenty year old labourer at Vic Ship making 20-23 hr really doing that well when compared to another twenty year old labourer working in a none union enviroment making 10-15 hr?
  7. What do you mean "one day"? They have already done it (granted in controled circumstances for now) and are already starting to deploy it. The Patriot system had a rockey start, but over time has progressed and in the recent gulf war, went nine for nine. I see no reason why the same progress can't be matched with the NMD interceptor. I'm sorry, but I don't follow your logic.
  8. Why? Is he blowing up the well heads and pipelines?
  9. Dear Flea bag: Do you understand the difference between Coastal defence and expeditionary warfare ? We don't need 'gunboat diplomacy'? Hows that? Are you saying that our Navies commitiment to the war on terror, well also useful, was not 'gunboat diplomacy' directed at our allies (United States)? As I said, many times, unless you are prepaired to give up our intrests abroad or let somebody else protect them (United States), then we need a well funded military, including a Navy that is geared even more towards expeditionary warfare.
  10. I'm sure we could build anything we put our minds to, only problem being it would most likely cost more then if we bought it off the self.......... I'm sorry caesar, but we don't. I've worked for the WMG, and I have friends who still "work" there (they are laid off right now mind you) and I can tell you, there is nothing viable about the entire organisation. I'm not saying that the couldn't build a ship, what I'm saying is that they couldn't build a ship on time or on budget. Now if you don't believe me, ask yourself, why would SEASPAN (branch of Washington Marine Group) purchase half a dozen Korean made ships instead of building their own "in house"? They are leasing to a Chinese company, but the ships are being built in Korea by either Hyandi or Samsung (forgot which one). Most do, but remeber, BC ferries is a private company, are you now saying they have to prop up industry in the Province?
  11. What "fair system"? Life isn't fair.........you get out of it, what you put into it.......simple as that. Why should some slacker in high school be given the same opportunities as a student that works hard? Do we really want this slacker given free post secondary education so he or she could become a *insert professional job title*, when they didn't really work towards it? Is that program called "restorative justice"? If thats what your talking about, I too am in favor of that, but only in cases involving minor crimes (ie vandalism), commited by youths. I've been a part of the apprentice program in BC for the last 4 years (on again off again) and I've yet to see any problems with it........infact, from talking with many trades men and women, they say it's now more fexlable then it was when they went through it. The only people that I've heard (and I experienced briefly) have a problem with trades in BC, are those that are members in a Union. Whats your problem with trades in BC? I agree, and only because I don't see a reason why taxpayers should be forced to waste anymore money on this bozo. Give him his slap on the wrist, and send him off on his merry way.
  12. And what if we want to maintain our current mission set(s)? Peacekeeping and the defence of Canada are not the only things our are armed forces do..........and as it stands now, expeditionary warfare is best carried out with a Navy......being the the majority of the planet is water and all........ You could even call it a proxy of the defence of Canada, in this case it would be defending Canadian intrests abroad.
  13. No, but I'm not talking about stabbing a person........I'm talking about 2005', Canary Yellow Corvette..........so is it now kinda alright if I steal one? What about if I come over to your home and take what I wish? Is that alright? I could even be considered poor if you put me smack dab in the middle of the British Properties.......What about there? Can I steal a Corvette from the rich? Would it be alright if a bum on Welfare spent all his welly check on dope, then stole another bum's welfare check? Is poor stealing from the poor aloud?
  14. So does this mean I can steal a new Corvette without any real consequences?
  15. The Surplus and if need be, further tax revenue (Which I doubt would be needed). I'd also guess, that if the auditor general went through all the government departments, she could find some "new Liberal waste" and those funds could be redirected.
  16. How did they sell out the poor? Are you saying that Jesus was a Communist now MS? Where does this Bloc/NDP partnership seem to be in the works? In your noggin? I thought that the evil Capitalists Pig-dog Oil Baron fat cat's product was melting the polar ice-caps and soon the world over would be drowning in water........
  17. IMHO, the punishment seems to be par for the Canadian legal systems course...........I mean why bother sending him to jail, Canadian taxpayer's money has been wasted on Svend for decades........why waste another cent?
  18. What you said in responce to Bakunin was: I underlined Bakunin's relavent comments and bolded yours.............. Bakunin says he doesn't agree with "naval forces" and that they are not useful in peacekeeping, you respond by saying your in total agreement.......... In future, when you want to try and "spin" your posts with me, please go back and edit them for christsakes...........it would help your cause What are you on about here? Remember, I support all three services.........equaly. Again, who says that any increase to the defence budget must come from Healthcare or Education? Does the United Kingdom not have a Healthcare and education system due to their defence spending? Your not answering the question: Why do you suppose that the UN asks for soldiers as opposed to police officers on Peacekeeping/Making missions? Oh, I get it, since they no longer play that big of a role today, they once did play a large role? So why is it that you choose infantry over "ships, or planes, or helicopters" and infantry? Wouldn't it not make sense to you that to get to the point were all that is really needed are light forces, in most cases prior, "ships, or planes, or helicopters" (and Tanks, IFVs, etc) are needed? Well let's say that we did have the troops, would you then be in favour of sending Canadians Forcers to Iraq? I see.......... Well I ask you this then, what would be the purpose of having trained pilots and sailors if we didn't have new "ships, or planes, or helicopters"? You do understand that to have well trained bodies, you need something for them to be well trained on right? Do you understand that it takes longer to train a MARS officer and a Pilot, then it does to train a member of the infantry? Wouldn't that alone stnd to reason as to why we should have a well trained Navy, Air Force and Army? No, what we need to do, is to spend the same (percentage wise) amount of our GDP on defence as that of our NATO allies, which would be 2.2%. That figure would be lower if you take the United States out of the mix, and would equal with what the Conservatives proposed. Only then would we be able to take on our fair share of the load of the Worlds problems. What the Senate Commite proposes is the bare minimum needed to keep the forces alive............not to add to them.
  19. To fulfill Canada's current role in the world, we need a larger navy then what we already have....... So what do you think Canada's role should be? Do wish us to stop playing a role on the world stage? Do we no longer need overseas trade? Or do you wish both these things, but are more then content to let the United States look after our needs? What the hell are you talking about, when you say we can't afford to defend ourselves? For an Extra $130 Bucks Now I suggest you go read the bipartisan report...... To defend Canadians and their intrests abroad........ Why do you suppose that the UN asks for soldiers as opposed to police officers on Peacekeeping/Making missions? So your saying that those "ships, or planes, or helicopters" didn't and are not playing a role in Iraq? You think? So are you in favor of Canadian troops going to Iraq as part of a stabilization force? So you would rather send "rookie Sailors and Airman" into combat? I got a crazy idea, how about we create a well balanced Army, Navy and Air Force, so if/when the next "big one" breaks out, we don't have to draft anybody and we don't have to send any "rookies", from any Service like we did in World War 1, World War 2 and Korea to fight a war. I'm sorry, thats the dumbest thing that I've ever read on this board I'd ask you to explain further, but I fail to see the point really.......
  20. And what of our Armed Forces number one role........................fighting a frigging war? No need for a Navy? Over the last three years, the majority of our Navy has been in and around the Straits of Hormuz fighting the WAR ON TERROR.......Are you now saying that the men and women of our Navy are not playing an effective role?
  21. Where is this hidden shipbuilding industry in BC caesar that can build large vessels?
  22. What were? The only "used" ships our Navy has, are four 10-15 year old ex-RN subs..........and we payed under 1 billion for four.
  23. Burke price tag Then when you convert that figure to CDN, you get around 2.5-2.6 billion dollars in Canuck funny money for for ships........times 2.6 billion by 3, you get around 7.9 billion dollars for 12 ships........
  24. As was mentioned by caesar, we already have many committments and to meet those it's already hard enough.......... The only reason I agree with caesar on no Canadian troops in Iraq, is because we don't have any to send.
  25. I'm not trying to "vilify" anybody, what I'm doing is questioning their credability........... Are they (and a good chunk of the world) not in the process of doing that? It's been tryed Are they not trying to do that right now? Californa's economy would collapse...... Isn't that what being done right now? WRT weapons inspections.......what for? Do you care what Jack Layton supports and doesn't support? Were are we going to get these troops? Do you want Canada to start a draft perhaps?
