This video is from a few years back, and I'm sure many of you have seen it, but it is excellent how Christopher Hitchins rips Bill Maher and his audience. The CWB is an undemocratic socialist relic. How does it exemplify democracy when farmers can't market their own wheat and barley? If the CWB is so great, then it will survive with competition. I know many farmers who are pro-CWB and many who are anti-CWB. The ones who don't like it have no choice. That is not democracy. The Conservatives are doing the right thing.

Anyways, the protestors in the video are a good representation of what these useless protests are all about.

True, there is hypocrisy everywhere. My point was a tangible example of what I noticed with regards to the federal election, and the Manitoba election. Why is PP only talked about when conservatives win, yet not when the NDP win. I accept the system we have. I don't like the NDP...but they have 37 out of 57 seats with only 2% more vote. I'm not crying for PP like my lefty colleagues were after the federal election.

I find lefties very hypocritical when it comes to FPTP. The lefties I am forced to associate with were crying for proportional representation when the CPC won the federal election. However not one mention of PR this morning after the Manitoba election in which the NDP beat the PC by 2% yet scored 18 more seats.

Hey, people only believe what they want, or what they hear from the CBC.

The USA will soon cut back on military expenditures. The American military has provided a huge umbrella for western European nations, as well as Canada. Those nations haven't had to spend as much on military because they have relied on the Americans for any protection should the need arise. In essence, Canada is able to spend more on socialized health care because we have always gotten by with shitty military equipment, and felt very little need to update the high tech sea-king. We should thank the Americans for allowing us all to have great health care.

I find Bush Cheney to be a very good contributor to this forum. He's one of those guys who hasn't been affected by what the establishment wants the average person to believe. Agree or disagree with him, he makes you think about things. I think putting someone on ignore is a sign of mental weakness.
