Have you ever noticed when a person, who has been living in Canada for perhaps 50 years, is asked what nationality they are, the answer is usually -- I am French, German, Dutch, Norwegian, Swedish, Irish, Ukranian, English or whatever. You ask a person that has been living in the USA for perhaps 5 years the same question and the answer is usually " I'm American". Why do you think that is? I suggest that Americans are perhaps more proud of their country than Canadians are of theirs. Doesn't that logic hold? Did you ever stop to think what pride in your nation means, and what it can lead to? No nation is better than another nation, they all have their strengths and weaknesses, their good and their bad. The reality is there are a few people on this planet with a lot of moola, and we need to wrestle some of it away from them, as they will not share it voluntarily. That is the essence of unionism. And tough if you don't like it, unions are here to stay particularly because of people with your mentality.. You were quite willing to partake of the benefits of unions when you were younger. If unions are so bad, why don't you give all the union benefits, wages, etc. back. Your position sounds very hypocritical.

The reality is that the federal government would have no choice but to enforce partition. And I think it is time to really discuss this issue so that Quebeckers know what the deal is. As Trudeau said: If Canada is divisible, so is Quebec!

Oh, it works well enough in Ottawa. If you want to work for the government, want to work in a store which is in one of their buildings, want to do business with them, or even around them you need to speak French. Fortunately your opinions are an extreme minority viewpoint. -
Just when you think sovereignty is dead The separatists have already had two kicks at the can, one to many as far as I am concerned. Unfortunately now partition is going to have to raise its ugly head, and will be front and centre in any future separation campaigns, as Canada will have no alternative this time, I'm afraid. Unless a Quebec left-of-centre federalist party appears on the scene, that is.

Layton shines in latest leadership poll

Who do you think would make the best Prime Minister?: Leader/Aug 04/Jun 04/Change Martin: 36%, 29%, up 7% Harper: 16%, 21%, down 5% Layton: 13%, 12%, up 1% Duceppe: 8%, 6%, up 2% Interesting statistics showing Harper and Layton in a dead heat within the 3.1% margin of error, 19 times out of 20. Net Change: Thinking of the recent election campaign, has your impression of the following party leaders become more positive, more negative, or has it not changed as a result of the recent election. Martin: minus 10 Harper: minus 3 Layton: plus 8 Duceppe: plus 4 Interesting to see that it is the left-of-centre party leaders who have improved their image in the eyes of the Canadian voters. -
Article Now that NDP Leader Jack Layton has a seat in the House of Commons I think we will see a political realignment begin to take place across the country.

Guys, it is time to wake up. Canada was founded by two cultures, the French and the English, and we are officially bilingual. It is time for use to begin using French much more openly in BC for example, time for all schools in the country to become bilingual, and time for you to take your heads out of the sand. There is no way Quebec is every going to separate, there is the aspect of partitioning Quebec, and the aspect of a civil war, so to avoid such scenarios, we had better smarten up, and get used to each other, and stop the nonsense coming from both sides of the country. And it is time for the people in Quebec to create a provincial left-of-centre political party that supports federalism. -
