Time to rid Canada of vicious dogs
maplesyrup replied to maplesyrup's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I am no dog expert but is it that complicated? I think people watch too much news, we don't get attacked in our homes every night, and I don't think people should have animals in their homes for protection. I mean, what happens if these animals get loose in the neighbourhood? Also if one has young children do you really want a vicious dog around? Certain breeds pit-bulls, rotweillers, dobermans, etc., need to be banned. And I agree, any person who abuses an animal need to be treated the same way as if they abuse a human. -
Time to respect property

What's the big deal about giving up 10%? If you expire with $1 million, you could still leave $900,000.00 behind for your loved ones to fight over. -
Time to rid Canada of vicious dogs

Just the ones that act like humans. The vicious ones of course. Most dogs are fine, and 1/4 Canadians lives with a dog. But citizens should feel safe to walk down their streets anytime, day or night, without having to be worried about being attacked by some uncontrollable beast, don't you think? -
Force Refiners to Sell Retail Outlets
maplesyrup replied to maplesyrup's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Maybe we need government refineries to break up these business monopolies. In Nova Scotia Imperial Oil controls 90% of the refineries, which is much too big a share of the pie for any one company to control, if we really believe in a free market, eh! -
Tougher dog laws urged Dog attacks should be treated identical to a human assault, and the owner of a dog who attacks people should go to jail. We need to rid our society of these vicious beasts, and jail those people who encourage this sick behaviour.

Force Refiners to Sell Retail Outlets
maplesyrup replied to maplesyrup's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Energy is an essential service. Just like you don't want people to strike who work in essential services, we don't need price fixing going on, among the transnationals as well. Gasoline retailers should be able to purchase their product from the refinery of their choice. Everyone has seen these wild fluctuations in price which has nothing to do with the price of crude oil. It is price-fixing, and the corporate executives should be in jail. I'm very tired of the business community not walking the talk. They say they believe in free enterprise but the moment they can they form monopolies, and cut out free enterprise. Hypocracy is what it is. -
Force refiners to sell gas stations, N.S. urged Isn't it about time we forced these transnationals to stop conducting business in a conflict of interest position. Either one is a refiner or a retailer. Being both is a serious conflict of interest, and our governments need to intervene and put a stop to it.

Daring to dream Now that 1/3 of Americans no longer believe in the American Dream, perhaps it is time to put some of these old myths to rest, eh?

A wild and wacky summer for political pollsters and weather forecasters I like the forecast about how well the Green Party is going to do. It is right up there with businessweek forecast that the Japanese are not going to do any harm to the US automobile industry. Ipsos-Reid has turned into the political forecasting baffoon of the 21st century.

Layton wants House approval of health plan It appears that we are going to have a rancorous House of Commons when Parliament resumes.

Oh, did I forget to mention that Conrad Black is a good ole Conservative. -

Slothful directors the real scandal Business people probably don't get it, but the rest of the world does. Never again when a business person gets any kind of an award will we be able to accept that he or she is receiving it for honourable rersons. A business hero indeed! -
Sharia is just protection for a bunch of angry men that are losing their power - it should never be adopted in Canada.

Conrad Black looted Hollinger Secret greed of Conrad Black Another business role model for our citizens! -
Lurching Ferries, Lurching Liberals Less than 9 moths to get rid of Campbell, and his sick anti-people government of BC. I can hardly wait. The very first thing new Premier Carole James should do when elected is give Hahn the boot with absolutely no severence pay whatsoever for all the damage he has caused.

Byelections still possible
maplesyrup replied to idealisttotheend's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Court upholds order allowing lawyers to access voter lists Conservatives, being the undemocratic folks we know them to be, lose another round. They can stonewall all they want, these elections will be overturned eventually. -
BC Ferries was fine before Campbell became Premier. We don't need US businessmen coming up here to Canada to run our corporations, and send what should be Canadian jobs overseas. This is absurd, and it is time for the feds to step in. Where is Emerson anyways - he is the trade minister, what's his problem?

Broadbent says Martin government must listen to opposition parties to survive PM Martin has options. He can govern like Joe Clark or PET. The choice is his.
-
Layton wants House approval of health plan PM Martin needs to settle down and start working with the other parties in the House of Commons. A good place to start will be health care.

WTO rules for EU in US trade row Another example of the discredited US and how they are constantly disobeying the trade agreements which they sign on to with no intention of following. This is an excellent example of why these agreements are not worth the paper they are written on.
-
Article It is obvious now that these trade agreements with the US have failed Canada. Canadians have lost jobs, our sovereignty has been threatened and eroded, and our social programs have been placed in jeopardy. When are going to get a government to address these issues, eh?

Carolyn Parrish and the Past Election
maplesyrup replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Prior to the last election, Parrish called the American administration bastards for their illegal war in Iraq. 80% of Canadians agree with her. -
NDP targets Grit gaffes We can already see who the real opposition to the Liberals is going to be.

Campbell's big F*** Y** to the BC voters over BC Ferries moronic ideas for the overseas building of ships will ensure election of Carole James and the New Democrats on May 17, 2005. The only thing that needs to be shipped in BC is BC Ferries CEO Hahn back to the US. Who needs these American corporate executive deadbeats anyways? Ferries flap letters on the way to the Premier
