  1. Not going to dispute this, its basically what I would say, with a few additions, to describe the situation. What does it have to do with the American Dream? I find recorded history far more reliable than "Mob" movies myself.
  2. I see, very appropriate.
  3. When we returned from Somalia we were "protested" by University students. Guess what Dog? More than a few of them were spitting at us. Were they left or right? Couldn't really tell you, all we knew was that they were mostly students and they were spitting at us and yelling crap about baby killers. My little sister even accused me of being a baby killer. It does happen you know.
  4. Actually thats wrong. The roots of the Mafia lie in Sicily, they had nothing to do with America until later in their existence.
  5. It never ceases to amaze me the hatred displayed by some people toward their fellow citizens, even to the point of wishing them dead.
  6. This I find really interesting. Its interesting because I don't believe I've said any such thing. How bout you do a little quotey quote thing and show all of us exactly where I said this? C'mon now, you made this accusation so why don't you back it up? Or are you just trying to fill the shoes of someonewhohaditcoming?
  7. Anyone hear any word yet as to the authenticity of the video? If it was real then as I've said before this persons behaviour is indefensible. If it is indeed fake then the only harm done is to the USMC, though it does indicate that this guy and his friends have a somewhat unbalanced sense of humour.
  8. What kind of PM schedule do you have your cars on? Those mileages are pretty low for vehicles that have been maintained on a regular schedule. For instance, all our vehicles recieve oil changes every 10,000 km, religiously. Our old Dodge truck is now sitting close to 550,000 km and still runs smooth as silk. Granted they're eight cylinder engines, but given a good maintenance schedule and proper upkeep even a Sunbird (garbage car by the way) should easily give you twice the mileage that it did.
  9. Boy did you peg me wrong on that one. When threatened I tend to do the opposite and take care of the problem promptly and in unequivocal fashion. So your contention is that because Rushdie had the unmitigated gall to write something its all his fault? That being the case I would say it sounds more like you are the one willing to surrender, not I.
  10. I tend to disagree with your statement. My experience has been that we are limited in our thoughts by the limits we impose ourselves. Even just in recent times we've witnessed an explosion in our capacity to formulate new concepts and ideas.
  11. Thanks AG, that wasn't my intent. It was the fact that I found this person to be very obnoxious, patronizing and hypocritical that got my back up. Still, he did inadvertently create some hilarious comments.
  12. Could you be a little more precise in what you are saying Margrace? I think I get the gist of your meaning but it could be a little clearer.
  13. Given that the cars from all major manufacturers are built along the same basic principles any differences tend to be more minor than major. I've used both imports and domestic products and what I've found makes the most significant differences is the planned maintenance schedule of the vehicle. Currently our oldest vehicle where I work is a 2000 Dodge 3/4 ton pickup. Due to the fact that I keep all our vehicles on a strictly enforced maintenance schedule this vehicle looks a little rough but continues to function in first class manner. Keep in mind that our vehicles see very heavy use and very high mileage. I think one area of major difference would be after sale customer care. It's been my experience that the Japanese dealers, Toyota particularly, tend to provide far better customer support than their North American counterparts.
  14. Thats the funniest thing I've seen in a long time.
  15. Threatened? I never felt threatened by him, confused yes, but not threatened. He was funny though. Should we start the "bring back Chauchee" movement?
  16. But Guyser, there is value to his words. What better way to learn the fine art of obfuscation?
  17. Oops! Messed that up! OFF TOPIC P.S. In all honesty I am not at all aware of American Woman doing what you claim she is doing. I find it a bit doubtfull since I've never seen her display any signs of the behaviour you claim she is exhibiting. There's that ego again. Newsflash for ya. Generally whether one is considered good and decent is determined by others, not by proclaiming ones self to be so. Would this also imply that all you disagree with are in fact not good and decent people?
  18. Actually Drea we do want facts, what do you think we've been asking for? Instead we get opinion pieces offered up as fact, and well, now some chicks home made website. Cast in stone no doubt. As the Monkeys said, I'm a believer!
  19. Impossible. That would put Dancer squarely in your court. I don't think he's anything like you. Once again, nobody around here gives a sh*t where you draw any line. As for kicking ass, you didn't all you did was give a graphic example of an ass.
  20. Oh look! Another meaningless and feeble attempt to dodge the hole he dug for himself. Do I see a pattern here?
  21. Wow! It must be because we apply entirely different standards to life or something but it would never occur to me to consider using chemical weapons on, what was it again, thousands I believe, of his people to be nothing but an occasional heavy hand. Nice to see you giving a pass to this scum and ignoring what is considered today as an act of genocide. Now what was the name of that planet you're walking around on, cos it sure aint the earth I live on. Actually he did do his "homework" on the satellite issue. It was you who offered up opinion pieces and touted them as gospel. It was you who refused to provide any credible proof. And it was you who refused to answer my query regarding official Canadian policy in Afghanistan. I suggest you take your own rather condescending and ignorant advice and do your "homework".
  22. I hated working in a factory with limited opportunities for advancement and work that required little to no physical or mental skills. Out west here I have a management position with a great deal of opportunities and a requirement to think and problem solve on the fly. I also like being less than an hour away from the mountains, not to mention the fact that the people in this small town are far more down to earth and practical than the majority of the people I had contact with in Ontario. Almost forgot to mention. It was a great way to put distance between myself and my ex.
  23. I really like this one.
  24. I'm not sure what you're getting at here. Are you postulating that the necessity to hide is Rushdie's fault since he chose to do so after receiving death threats? That being the case are you saying that in his situation you would have ignored the threats thus endangering yourself and your family? Just in order to prove a specious and rather vacuous point?
