  1. Thats odd, how often do you eat toe nails Rue?
  2. Could you show something to back that statement? Nothing I've ever seen confirms what you're saying so I'd like some confirmation. Strange as it may seem, if you show me something solid, not just opinion, then I do adjust my views on the subject.
  3. Then they'll think we put our god on a diet since many of us now have thin boxes on our walls. The whole Sphinx debate is quite interesting, I must admit though that most of the material I've seen places the age at around 5,000 years old. I've also heard theories stating that the Pyramids are older than we believe and all we know about Egyptian burial practices is wrong. Of course non of these opposing views are from any sort of credible source. Its the source of course, the more credible, the more likely to be correct.
  4. Its true DM, I am totally ashamed of the fact that we never learned the art of discordant unsyncopated drumming and "singing" that sounds like Yoko Ono on a really bad day.
  5. As I said in another thread, why try to discuss with someone who is totally disconnected from reality? Fish traps and wiers really don't support any argument you are making DM as they have been in use by various peoples around the world for millenia. As a matter of fact they are amongst the oldest and most basic methods for fishing that mankind has ever developed.
  6. Sorry, I didn't realize they had to be current quotes. That sucks a lot of good quotes are disqualified.
  7. Man! The crap is really flying now, why bother with reality when you can change it by thinking something different. The Natives had the wheel, bullshit! The Natives were advanced farmers, bullshit! The Natives had horses, bullshit! The Natives simultaneously evolved, bullshit! It really isn't worth the waste of time trying to discuss with those who are fanatical and refuse to stick to reality. Fantasy doesn't count in this context.
  8. I like this one as well. [You're doing a heck of a job!]
  9. If it were a discussion I would. However given the nature of the crap you've been spouting, such as, reality being whatever you imagine it to be, simultaneous evolution, etc, etc, I really don't care to waste my time. I've seen pumpkins that would provide a better discussion than the stuff you post.
  10. Good links, the essay was especially interesting.
  11. I do remember hearing something about this but the details slipped my mind. Does anyone have more information about this incident?
  12. You must be a big fan of Von Daniken.
  13. With that single sweeping and generalized statement you have just lost all credibility. How do you know what that person is like? You don't, so you make a farcical generalized statement and post it as an unassailable fact. Can you show me how the previous poster is "people like you"? Just what exactly is a "people like you"? As for believing anything. It has been my experience that Native Activists and those infatuated with the Native myth will believe just about anything so long as it makes them feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Hence the origin of such ridiculous claims as, Natives evolved in North America, the white man never invented anything, etc, etc. I prefer to look at things with skepticism until shown some proof, that is, proof not based on some "oral tradition" which can be manipulated or changed as proves to be most expeditious to some agenda or cause. Actually this is interesting in that it is partially correct. It was the French who were iced in and the Natives did give them a drink to combat scurvy. It wasn't the British. Treatment for scurvy is actually recorded back in the early 12 hundreds. Limey is a recent name in this story. The British started using Limes because they were easy to preserve on long voyages. They never had too many problems with scurvy at the point in time you refer to. Previously they had used (believe it or not) Turnips, yep, Turnips. I guess Turnippies just didn't have the ring to it that Limeys has. A quick Wikipedia search will show that the disease was known about long before North America was even dreamed of. Cures were also known, the problem was the perishable nature of the foods needed to treat it. Hippocrates is generally credited with being the first person to describe it as a disease that could be treated. I only mention this because I was a sailor from a family of sailors that goes back a long long way. As such I've always had an interest in Naval history.
  14. I've found quite the opposite to be the case, the media tends to romanticize Natives. Why shouldn't a person who has worked hard and steady use the fruits of their labours to their own benefit? As for hunting and fishing, do you believe that only Natives have ever done this? Do you believe that Europeans never hunted or fished before coming to North America? Can you show me something to prove that Natives helped Europeans to move here? Did they send across a bunch of Mayflower moving canoes and load them up for the settlers?
  15. Go spend some quality time in Quebec if you want to see that attitude in all its glory. The xenophobic attitudes and outright hatred of the rest of Canada can be quite an eye opener after spending some time there. Yes, they do very much believe its a case of French against Les Anglais.
  16. Ridiculous statement, based on nothing but personal opinion. Probably couldn't be more wrong if they tried.
  17. Plenty of those kinds out here in Alberta. Just last week I had a meeting with insulation suppliers and we shook on it, even though it was a considerable sum we were talking about. Handshake sealed it, paperwork to follow. In this case I have to agree with WB, after seeing the antics and outright lies from Six Nations I wouldn't trust any of them as far as I could throw them. Not too many out here want to do buisness with Natives. Far too many instances of them burning people, contract or no contract. Considering the amount of outright theft that originates from both reserves here nobody is willing to make it easier for them to steal. Why enter into a multi million contract for a building if they're just going to screw you anyway? The shame is that there are some very good ones to work with. Honourable people who are besmirched by the reprehensible behaviour of their fellow Natives.
  18. Army Guy is correct for the the most part. He's also correct in saying they do decontamination work. It does go a bit deeper than that though. I spent 3 years on the NERT team in Halifax, it was interesting. They basically train for emergency response when a Nuclear incident occurs. They're trained to assess the situation and start corrective/containment action. Its true that there are no great nation shaking secrets held by these teams. Its all pretty straight forward and in the public domain. You do get to see some really interesting information and movies on subjects like Chernobyl and such. Interesting but not sensitive material.
  19. I hear this a lot. One thing the people who say this have in common is that they never show how we benefit. All I ever hear is this phrase with nothing to back it up. As for socially, thats questionable. Because a person has an infatuation with some other culture does not mean everyone shares that infatuation. Mostly what I see from open immigration proponents is a whole lot of generalizations without much substance to back them up. Now my personal take is that immigration can be a good thing, if done right. What we are currently doing in this country is not what I would personally call a good thing or doing it right.
  20. Ahh, 42%, now that makes way more sense than 42 coming from the British Isles!
  21. Starting to froth at the mouth a bit? Anytime a person wishes to take a one sided view they will always find plenty of ammunition to support that view. Personally I don't agree with the Iraq war. On the other hand I can also see why it could be considered necessary. Palestinians and Israeli's? Easier. You hear a lot from certain people about the evils of Israel whilst they entirely ignore the good points of Israeli's. Its that one sided view and blindness that refuses to see the two sides of the coin and ignores the good or justified that may be done in favour of vilification. Its a self imposed blindness and ignorance in service of a personal ideology.
  22. Who was banned for double posting last week?
  23. Are you sure only 42 came from the British Isles? Seems a bit low if you ask me.
  24. All Hallows Eve, So. no one celebrates it, no one dresses up, no one goes around collecting candy, no one carves pumpkins. How would I know this? Maybe because thats where I'm from. I still remember how confused I was my first year here. All the kids were talking about Halloween and the costumes they would wear, I didn't have a clue what they were talking about. Still, you did provide a link so I must be wrong, everyone must have been doing it and I just kinda "missed" it. As for what Fawkes was, so? We certainly did celebrate him, bonfires were built and he was burnt in efigy across the country. It could actually be a bad night as younger people would use it as an excuse and light fires all over the place. So could you enlighten me as to how something that isn't practiced or even known about can be part of the culture?
  25. Nice fella. Its too bad the clip cuts off where it does, I would have liked to see what he thinks will satisfy them if killing all the Jews wouldn't do it.
