  1. Well its just my opinion but I think the Holocaust was actually pretty unique. Sure other races have been persecuted but never before have we seen (to my knowledge) anything like the specialist people disposal industry that was set up to deal with the Jews. When you look into it you come to realize that efficiency was the watch word used by the Germans. They balanced the need for slave labour against efficient disposal in order to maximize both. No one else has ever done that before. So, yes, I would say that is pretty damn unique.
  2. Now this is really interesting. Your conclusions are all based upon pure supposition, science fiction novels, and movies, that must give you quite a unique view of the world. If the Taliban are as tough as you claim then why have Canadian forces that are numerically inferior kicked their asses every time they've engaged? Not just beaten them, but booted them squarely and hard, to the tune of no Canadian fatalities and over a hundred Taliban fatalities. This pattern has repeated for almost every engagement so far. Or is your definition of tough seeing how many of them can die quickly? Perhaps now you can back up what you say with another reference to Fantasy or Science Fiction. Perhaps something about the force being with you? That might sound nice.
  3. It's just based on my observations. YouTube can be seen as an extension of earlier software systems such as early IM programs. I remember the hay days of ICQ, everyone was on it. Now we have YouTube and Facebook which are basically a media rich extension of the older IM concept crossed with features of a public forum. Give it a little time and the next great thing will probably replace both of the aformentioned. I use them, but not often. With the freedom to post anything a lot of garbage gets posted. Your point about advertiser free mediums is a good one. It was predicted many years ago that such mediums would grow in influence, as they have. The advertising driven model does not apply to them as it does to other mediums, thats a good thing in my opinion.
  4. Doesn't surprise me at all, I've been to Columbia. Its the kind of place where you can get dead in a hurry just by looking at someone. My friend Carlos (a Venezuelan) acted as my guide, glad he did. Columbia is one extremely sketchy kind of place. Life is cheaper than a cup of their fabled coffee in that country.
  5. Really couldn't say since I haven't seen anyone here espouse the views you're saying they have.
  6. I think we do still have some great actors left. Sir Anthony Hopkins comes to mind, also DeNiro, Hoffman, Nicholson, Streep, Paccino, and quite a few more. Heston had charisma and that great deep voice, he wasn't in the same league as the others I just mentioned though.
  7. Damn! You beat me to it. I've seen people advocating harsh treatment of extremists, I agree treat them harshly. Never yet can I recall seeing anyone crying death to Muslims. Personally I believe in the harshest of measures in the face of extremism, any extremism Not once have I seen anyone here advocating random acts of violence against Muslims. Nor have I seen any praising vandalism against Muslims. Perhaps you exaggerate just a little in order to add impact to your point. Sure the desecration of the graves is a terrible thing. Its terrible whenever it happens, and it happens all the time, both here and abroad. To jump from something happening in France to the speculation that someone from this site must have done it, well, thats just absurd, juvenile and insulting.
  8. Nope, you didn't ask me any such thing, I would have given you the recent case involving the band claiming South Edmonton. You know, the one overturned by the Supreme court. The same supreme court that they are now ignoring because the ruling didn't go in their favour. The reason being that the court determined the claim was based on false testimony, that one, or are you not familiar with it because you aren't keeping up on these matters? As for answering, you have no place to talk. I've asked you to back up things you've said about me at least a half dozen times and been met with stony silence on the subject every time without fail. So what was that you were saying about not providing the info requested. Can you say hypocrite?
  9. Yep, it was an uncalled for attack. It's on the same level as claiming that being a newspaper carrier is slavery. Both are without merit or basis in reality.
  10. Just cant get away from the attempts at insults can you? Now, back to the question at hand. Is it possible that this guy (and by extension his cohorts) actually believes that what he is saying is true? Driven by ideology and fanaticism people can and will go to great lengths to justify their actions. In this case it boggles the mind that he could bend reality to the point where he actually believes what he is saying. Now, do you have a comment on the topic? Or are you just going to try and go off tangent again with some specious attempt to relate perception of reality to body counts?
  11. Nope, no standard answers here. As far as I'm concerned one Canadian death at the hands of these people is one to many. From what you wrote I'm getting the no big deal impression, rather than make feeble attempts at insults, perhaps you should actually think about what you wrote. As for the fan impression. What else am I to think? I'm talking about this no. 2 mans perceptions of their deeds and you're spinning off on some totally unrelated tangent about dead Iraqi's. It appears you are trying to distract from the subject and excuse the actions of these animals, so, yes, it appears that you are an apologist for Al Quaeda. As I said, perhaps you should try re- reading what you wrote before going on about comprehension and lack of anything intelligent to say.
  12. I was. It really really hurt my feelings.
  13. Who's worried? Not me. Amused would be more like it. Perhaps a little astounded, not much though. Pretty much anything these guys do is irrational and despicable. I never realised you were such a big fan of AQ and OBL. From what you're saying one gets the impression that the deaths of some Canadians are really no big deal, I could be wrong but that is the impression you give. Most peculiar.
  14. Actually the fatal flaw was when you said we are in Iraq killing tens of thousands etc. etc. It has been pointed out to you that aside from a handfull of advisors we actually aren't in Iraq. Perhaps you meant to say that the handfull have killed tens of thousands etc. etc. Either way it is a patently false statement.
  15. Hate to tell you this Drea, but I've been using it since it's inception. I stated thing, not thingy. Ah these computer neophytes with their air of self appointed superiority. In fact I've been into Computers since 81 and have not bought one since... oh... about 95, just build my own. As for the next generation, I highly doubt it. We are finding that Moores law encompasses more than just silicone now, it can actually be used to chart the power and complexity of applications and other communications systems. Its very doubtfull that YouTube will even be around by the time the next generation is ready to utilize the next great communication system
  16. Ah, those evil Israeli's. How dare they assist the Palestinians with creating one of the fastest growing economies in the world! Things sure are a hell of a lot better in Palestine now that its not under Israeli administration. Things are so damn good that they now have an endless supply of suicide murderers in Palestine. Good thing the evil Israeli hospitals treat them, evil though they are.
  17. Interesting. Could you be so kind as to show me which policy or mandate states that we (in a broad sense) went to Iraq in order to kill "tens, if not hundred of thousands, innocents". Not to mention the fact that there are very very few Canadians in Iraq and those who are serve in an advisory capacity, not a combat capacity. You might want to make note of the fact that Iraqi's are the ones killing the vast majority of Iraqi's. Oh yes, I almost forgot to ask. What does your comment have to do with the fact that the number two Al Quaeda wanker stated they don't target innocents?
  18. I agree, unbelievable ignorance. Anyone who knows anything at all about military matters knows that the whole concept of "Peace Keeping" is nothing more than a feel good fantasy dreamed up by the Liberals. Many have said it before but I guess it needs to be repeated. There is no such thing as "Peace Keeping". If you have peace then peace exists and does not have to be "kept". If you do not have peace then you need to make it. If you have peace and some party tries to disturb that peace then you must make them stop, by force, with weapons. No other solution works, period. You are right about one thing though, it is a war. A war fully sanctioned by both the U.N. and NATO, of which bodies we are full members. So is your solution one that involves renouncing both our U.N. and NATO membership? And that statement is "somewhat" meaningless and false.
  19. Thats pretty good. Criticize Harper for his leadership skills. Have you by any chance noticed the absolutely stellar leaders the other parties are fielding at the moment? The others couldn't win a pissing match if they were locked in an outhouse.
  20. Yeah yeah, I know its old but its another good one. Just cant resist these, this man is so unintentionally funny. He says way better stuff than our politicians, our guys are just plain boring. St. Louis, MO 10/08/2004 in the Second presidential debate, conveniently forgetting that he owns part interest in LSTF, LLC
  21. Now I'm starting to understand the topic. At first, based on the thread title, I thought it was about South Asians being the largest consumers of breath mints in Canada.
  22. I served my country for 20 years, so I'm a traitor? What have you done? As I stated, we honour our fallen. The Flag has never been posted at half mast before for every service member who falls , why should we start now and in general cheapen our cherished rituals of respect? Just because you have no knowledge of the manner in which we honour our fallen does not mean it doesn't happen. Just because some have the good sense to realize that our rituals should not be turned into some tacky cheap public display for the consumption and titillation of the masses does not make them a traitor. Admittedly I, on a personal note take your statement as being extremely offensive, however that does not change the reality of what I am saying.
  23. It is quite obvious that you do not understand military culture or the codes of honour and ethics that go with it. The fallen are honoured, indeed they are cherished above all others. Just because the means of doing this do not involve a three ring public circus does not mean it is not being done.
  24. Well, that is very very interesting. Even more interesting will be the responses of the apologists to this. Not to sound alarmist, but it certainly does appear that the Islamic agenda is forging ahead at full steam. First limit free speech on a small scale by using Human Rights tribunals to gag and intimidate individuals, then go for the gusto and make the attempt on a world wide scale. Fortunately the U.N. is no more than a useless feel good dictators club, full of smoke and mirrors but no substance. Any professional military person will give roughly the same opinion. Once you have to serve under their authority you come to that inescapable conclusion. Lets just do away with it, it serves no usefull purpose, it merely gives a pulpit to wankers like these.
  25. Thats why I always avoided Bloor. You just never knew when you'd become the next victim of a random drive by Motzah'ing. Even worse are those insidious roadside IMD's (improvised Motzah devices) they are so fond of planting, the sheer carnage after one of those goes off is enough to turn your blood to ice water.
