  1. If Taliban wanted help from these soldiers and their boss, they would not blown up them by a suicide bomer. Besides, if Osama was a pure-blood American, the reaction of Americans to the 9-11 event would be far more different Those muslims who live in Syria or Iran or India or Russia - or China are Syrian or Iranian or Indian or Russian - or Chinese. So did the old British Empire before WW2....what was Americans doing then? Leadership has its cost
  2. Canadians used to worry about many things, like raccoons's rights in their backyards and shark fins in Chinese soup..
  3. And the worst problem of our American friends is that they still haven't figured out why they are so hated in the world, just like Gaddafi never knew why he was the so hated by his people. There is a joke----the last minute of Gaddafi's life: Gaddafi: Spare me! Spare me! Rabble A: Spare you? Have you forgotten your son raped my daughter? Gaddafi: No, I remember...alas, young men always do foolish things. But I paid $1,000,000 to you as compensation. I thought you were satisficed.... Rabble A: Satisficed?....I accepted the deal just because I knew you would kill me if I told you I was unsatisfied.... Rabble B: You also killed my son! Rabble C: and my brother! Gaddafi: Yes,I did. But your son raped his daughter,so I killed your son for revenge for his daughter; and your brother raped his wife,so I killed your brother for revenge for his wife. I ruled the case fair and square, according to my holybook law. Why do you hate me so much? Rabble A&B: Why do I hate you so much? Because 1st, your holy book law was writen by your god, not ours; 2nd, you didn't kill your rapist son according to your holybook law because you value your loved ones more than others. Why do you suppose we are different?
  4. Especially Uncle Sam also needs money to settle its own financial problem at the moment.
  5. Ally? US and Canada are allies in Afghanistan, that means both side exchange information about their troops's position and next move to avoid "friendly-fire" casualties. Would you genuinely think US might share any information of its military operation with Pakistanis? And since the incident obvilously happened in Pakistani territory, do you really think US military would have the right to go across the border attact a target without Pakistani government's permission if US saw Pakistan as an ally?
  6. You are still acting like a mullah in a theocratic country by constantly telling people "our holy books allow you to do this but not allow you to do that..." meanwhile without any understanding why holy books allow people to do this but that. If it is true that "there is no limitation on your neighbour's property intended to protect you", why is "the purpose of limiting heights under zoning by-laws" to restrict them using their houses for businesses? Maybe the laws only protect the politicians who used to collect "business property tax" from the owners of business buildings. You even failed to understand why there are laws in every country, nation or tribe. If there is a one person country in the world, and we assume the country is in an isolated and uncharted island, obviously it will not need laws because the only person can do everything which he or she wants without affecting others. If one day another person climbs ashore the country, a law or a rule, such as one person's realm is in the east end of the island and others in the west, will be set up. The reason of why there is a law or rule because one person's activity may affect another. Then the third person comes, the law has to be changed to react the new circumstance because of the same reason. And you still don't understand why the laws, rules or principles of city-planning allows religious buildings within a residential area. It is because when the laws or rules were writen, there wasn't such thing like that the residents in Oshawa funded to build a grant temple in Toronto to promot their gods. Most funds for a temple in a community came from the residents of the community, so it naturely mainly served for the residents of the community. But if one day the kings or some billonaires of some foreign countries begin to fund the grant temple building movement here just because they believe the power of their gods are proportionate with the size of the temple of their gods, the ground which the laws or rules were set up has been changed, so the laws or rules have to be changed.
  7. The purpose of limiting your neighbours around your house to re-build their home to skyscrapers partially is to protect your right of having sunlight from your windows. As for maintaining a certain character to residential neighbourhood, to build a 135-ft giant mosque among hundreds of two-story houses is just like what the Chinese old saying says, "riding a camel among a horde of sheeps".
  8. You still don't understand why your "charter" and laws give people the right of holding a demonstration, signing a petition and expressing or posting their opinions freely, even if what those demonstrators, petitioners and posters ask for are totally against the laws and the charter. The reason is that laws and even the charter are not like all sorts of holy books which are unchangeable because they were writen by gods. Laws can be changed and they are designed to be changed if necessary.
  9. Of course...but one day if they rally against Israel, you will fall back... then, they will sell oil to China and Russia, which used to rally with Sadaam and Gahdaphi against US, just because they want you know they are unhappy about your stances...
  10. No, I will not. I guess few of my neighbours would do this. Just imagine, how would those Muslim residents feel if their neighbours started such kind of movement against their holy temple? It seems like Canadian are more uncanadian...,LOL, I was more uncanadian than I thought. 'Frustration' spurs meeting on mosque I think I should also change my Chinese Canfucian harmonious neighbourhood mind and join the Canadian holy-ass kicking party to become more Canadian. I suggest you should get a bit more grasp on what others are discussing before you comment on others posts. This is not a thread on how many meters height slide laws allow me to put up in my back yard but why. Obviously the reason of why there is a legal limit on the height of an object in my back yard is that it may affect others who live outside the lot of my house.
  11. There is a joke: A few thousands years ago, ET interstellar explorer Allah landed his starship on a desert area of the planet earth and found human women's tender skin of their faces were scorched by desert searing sun. "A woman should always hood her face if she goes out of home," Allah kindly reminded a human mulla. Failing to understand the reason of Allah's instruction, the mulla simply wrote down what Allah said on his book. Thousands years later, the book has become a holy book so that some human women still obey the instruction of the holy book by hooding their faces outside home even if they are inside a subway car, without any thinking of why Allah told them to do that... Unfortunately, nowadays not only some "church" going people cares more on what the holy books say than on why the holy books say, but some of our dear lawyers also treat the laws as their holy book. They never realize that the laws, are just like other man-made stuff, which always needs to be updated to fit the circumstance of the changing real world.
  12. As for what you tried to talk about, i tell you there is no such thing as "they" at all....there are just I, you, he, she...
  13. Laws can be changed.....charter rights can also be changed
  14. I know that area quiet well, and have my home there. Adhan But then again, it is Markham, which is a Canadian town not of Middle East, so I suppose my Muslim bros here will use cell-phone calls insteat of loudspeakers. And I suppose Allah has blessed each pryer of the temple a good driver so he or she will never put the students who go to and leave the school everyday and the kids who used to ride their bikes across Williamson to the playground of the community in any danger. if most pryers from outside of the region would drive in from the east and leave towards the west... which was originally planned mainly for local residents to drive in and out their home just as other feeder roads in other communities of Canadian towns.
  15. Well, it's in Oshawa, a quiet beautiful smaller city near her bigger neighbours. I have been to the city for a few times and have considered to live there for a time because I love quiet place, but I have to go where the job goes. I also find the Walmart supercenter and the Canadian Tire there are also a bit much bigger than those in Markham and Toronto. I wish Allah would smile on me because I was one of the nearest inhabitant to his temple, so oneday I would be able to sell my home to some Arab milionaires with a good price and retire to some cheap place spending these money.
  16. No, I will not. I guess few of my neighbours would do this. Just imagine, how would those Muslim residents feel if their neighbours started such kind of movement against their holy temple? I just put the thread here for some discussion. I don't know if the funders of this grand-mosque-building movement around world also mind others' feeling. But if they spent the same money to build more smaller mosques only for the local muslim residents like most churches, would it be batter for both muslim and non-muslim residents? And don't you think the fund-thirsty city council should take some initiative to hear the voice from the people whom they are supposed to represent before making the decision?
  17. It is not a religion issue. It's just about "quite" and "noisy". And there is also an issue of style incompatibility. I'm not sure if anyone here has ever been to the the Old Historic Markham Neighbourhood or Markham village. If someone has been to there and still think it is a great idea to set up a hudge mosque/Taoist temple/something exotic there, he or she must have radical taste on aesthetics.
  18. There is nothing about against muslim or mosques. If it was a huge Chinese restaurant with 188+ parkings, I would also think it should be placed at a comercial plaza.
  19. If I want to set up a sliding board of 3 meters height in my backyard for my son, I have to ask my neighbours for their approval. If I want to set up a CN tower at my backyard, I think the "green light" from the mayor or councillors of Markham isn't enough. So Canada is the freedom-least place in the world...
  20. I'm under the impression that the most parts of GTA are well planned. Big supermarkets like Walmart, Malls and other comercial/social/governmental establishments which may draw large amount of visitors are usually planned at the corners of the intersection of two main streets. Obviously the principle of the layout is convenient for visitors who drive in and out from distant region, meanwhile minimize the disturbance to the local residents. Daily meeting place.... You might have no problem with that Harper got G20 meeting at downtown of Toronto. It was jsut temporary inconvenient, wasn't it? But if the conservative boss got G20 meeting at Toronto everyday, I guess his hardest follower in the city would uprise against him. How many of these churches are historial heritages? As for downtown, I think its function is very different from the functioin of uptown.
  21. A Baptist Church with 188 parkings + additional parkings borrowed from a nearby school for 500 believers? Where is it? Please use Google Map checking the land for the planned mosque, which locates at the north of 16th Ave between BR Andre Catholic HS and Williamson Rd, then move the map to compare the size of the mosque with the nearest walmart wich locates at the north-west of the intersection of McCowan Rd and Hwy 7, you will find the Walmart is not too much bigger than the mosque. I'm not sure you have read the article in the link of my first post. If it shoud be placed where there is land, why shouldn't the Taoist temple?
  22. I think it should not be planned there, not because it is a mosque, but because it is a mass daily rally point for non-residents in a residential area. I know there is a church in the community, but the church doesn't have a lot with 188 parkings and additional borrowed parkings from a local school's. I suppose it is only for local residents because it is unlikely that a person will walk 10 kilometers to go to the church. Just thinking, if it was a Walmart supper-center(or a famous Chinese restaurant, a "Chinese church" which only worshipped Chinese god and only allows Chinese in, etc.) which obviously only served a few local residents of the community but would draw customers from 20 to 50 kilometers radius, shouldn't it be placed where a Walmart supper-center was supposed to be?
  23. This evening I came home from work and was greeted by my wife with this news. Mosque coming to Markham The planned mosque is just a street next to my backyard. I would have no problem with a mosque there if most of my neighbours were Muslims but they are not. Most of residents in the community are white and I definitely know they are not Turks. If the mosque mainly doesn't serve the residents of the community, why shouldn't it be built somewhere more public like nearby a Walmart?
  24. This is the evidence that Harper funds foreigners and discriminates Canadian/existing immigrants... Canadian Immigration Integration Project (CIIP) Helping new comers to find their first job isn't discrimination because new comers are different in many aspects and conditions from those who have been existing here for many years. An unemployed Canadian or immigrant means he or she has been employed by a Canadian company or business before so he or she is easier to find a new job than those newcomers who haven't any "Canadian working experience" at all, not mentioning that an existing unemployed can collect EI(one kind of welfare ) but a new comer can't.
  25. Maybe "we", lol, "you" should change the traffic rules----why should the state intervene the ways the drivers driving their own cars? If anyone feels unsafe without these rules, why shouldn't he or she buy a bigger car or even a M1A1 tank like "us"? It seems like the signboard before Hudak tells what the little conservative devils here ask for---CHANGE But change what? Maybe changing the national/provincial leadership from liberals to conservatives isn't enough. Only changing the leadership of conservative from Harper/Hudak kind to Voldemort will satisfy them. PS: This is the "universal value" shared between Voldemort and our young conservative dudes:
