I'm officially supporting the Liberals
ScottSA replied to mikedavid00's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
You ARE the woman who wants the Indian race to get back caledonia, right? Or are you going to try to redefine "Indian" to be something else entirely? -
I can't think of a better demonstration of the truth of the expression "Indian giver" than caledonia.

Tired of the Same Old? Why not Green?

Is it time for "the west" to accept responsibility
ScottSA replied to Higgly's topic in The Rest of the World
For my part, I'd just like to say...say that....I'd deeply deeply *sob* really sorry. What *shudder, racking sob* have we done? *Snivel* -
I can't imagine why you bother educating him. All he'll come back with is the fact that only the 12th and 20th centuries have been spoon fed to him, so the rest must have been all sweetness and light. I'd really like to his explanation for why the middle east is now Islamic when it used to be Judeo-Christian.

Gosh, that's namecalling. I'm sure Higgly will report you though, so I won't bother. You can just call me Scott, by the way; the SA isn't really necessary. Now then, lets address this little snitty poo...in a purist sense you're right, but then in a purist sense the war in Iraq has to do with numerous subtleties, most of which you ignore and many of which you don't even know, but I suggest that you really ought to be more exact, and list each political, geopolitical, and economic cause in each post. It sounds so much more...well...exact...than reductionist slogans about "oil" or "Bush lied". Of course I made the same mistake too, albiet in a lesser way, when I referred to the attributes of fascism in connotative form rather than painstakingly listing the exact attributes of fascist ideology. It's actually not a very complicated ideology at all, really, since all the anti-semitism and such of the German version was really more a paste on than a fundamental, so it shouldn't be hard...I could probably describe it rather exactly in terms of an ideology as...well...exactly the way I described it. You see, you and Jerry are really confusing the actions of the ideology with the ideology itself. It's kind of silly, but I guess I can live with it.

I'm not sure. It seems that each time the left gets caught in the broom closet with fascism, it feels the need to start flinging odure. I wonder why?

I'm surprised you were able to find the thread amongst all the spam.

Bin Laden tape to declare war on Musharraf
ScottSA replied to kuzadd's topic in The Rest of the World
I'm not sure what all this leftist caterwauling is about. The "US and bin Laden have the same enemies?" I guess the nuances of politics are just too far above some people's heads. -
What nonsense. All I've heard cited is the virtually irrelevant and unconnected concept of British common law, and one case individually accepted, in part. For the snail-like thinkers, that is not a blanket agreement to accept "oral history" every time some shaman pops out of represssed memory syndrome and discovers his tribe owns a city or two. Save us from fools. And frankly, your celebration of the courts as entities aloof and above politics is a bit transparent, since when they do things you don't like, all of a sudden they're just whitey's lackeys, and/or operating outside some pie in the sky indian "law."

Sure. I'll call the good ol' boys.

And an idiot is someone who is so willfully blind that he doesn't know up from down, left from right, or red from blue. -

I've conceded plenty of points Mikey, as you well know. It'd just that it's been awhile since I've been wrong, as you also know. That's why I have a forum and you...well...we need say no more, eh wot? You haven't been accused of being a mushy middle of the road type LATELY Mikey, you live your klive in the middle of the road and get run over frequently because of it. But that's neither here nor there really, is it? As for adopting a party platform, it's really quite simple...I adopt, as do most people...the party that best represents my politics. In this case it's the Conservatives, although I'm quite sure they'd make the sign of the cross and start wearing garlic if I showed up on their doorstep, since as far as I know they haven't decided to deport Muslims en masse. Yet. But that aside, there would be no point in allying with a political party and then parsing through its policies in a political forum full of the sort of intellect found in the fellow in the post above you, would there? I mean, it would just sound wishy washy, wouldn't it? I speak like an academic when I speak with academics, and when I speak to fools, I speak like a...no wait...I speak slowly with a few more rough edges. That's what I do. In any event it has nothing to do with emotionality, nor Spock-like devotion to logic. I just appeal to logic more than some people, like the emotive fool in the post...well, never mind, I've been reported enough by little cheerleaders tonight.

What a silly little cheerleader you are. I have to wade through two pages of spam to finally find the end of the thread? Good grief. I sincerely doubt the Hyatt regency had a hotel in New Delhi in 1970 when I left, and if it did I never saw it, so I can't begin to tell you what the floor is made of. I can tell you what the shape of the American International School is and I can tell you what an Indian sunset looks like in the dungsmoke and I can tell you what the gekkos at 5 Katilya Marg and 17 Malcha Marg look like. I can tell you that in the 60s the "Tata" trucks were mercedes and that Ambassador cars rattled right off the production line. I can tell you that in old Delhi the Muslims rioted about once a week, and that they sat outside Holy Family Hospital with big signs saying "yankee go home." I can tell you the nullahs during the monsoons ran over with the accumulated filth of the season and that about 50% of the Indians at the time wished the British would come back and put things right again. The Raj was remembered as the Golden years. As for the revisionist post-colonial history of India, written by Indian nationalists or Indian communists who are honored in the breech, they were then and probably are still a joke amongst the literati. Nehru and Ghandi were national dieties, of course, but the traditions of the Raj are proudly carried on, with the exception that Victoria has been replaced by Gandhi, to the dismay of many, at India gate. What else I can tell you is that you're an idiot. I have no doubt that what little knowledge you have of India or any other neck of the woods comes from one or two books written for popular consumption with a mere glossing over of the currents that run deep in Indian society. Did you know that most Indians want to whiten their bloodlines? Betcha didn't. That's where this white superiority nonsense comes from you know. But that's not something you'll ever understand, being spoonfed as you are on PC traditionalism. You're a fool, little cheerleader. Just a fool.

I think this is a case in point of what kimmy is saying...that you imagine he can be "diagnosed" by virtue of having an opinion that involves the death of the infidel. That's just silly. Removed from his handlers? Remember where he is? I'm fairly certain he's out of touch with his "handlers", don't you? What outrageous blindness you have that you think deepest religious someone's convictions are "mental illness."

It's beyond me how you characterize this as a "whine": "I wish a few good ol' boys would wade into them with 2x4s and teach them what's what. Hell, I'd join the fun myself..."

The west needs to grow up and have kids
ScottSA replied to ScottSA's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
I see. So if women choose to engage in sex, they should have babies too? Oh, no wait. They don't have to worry about that choice, do they? Only dad has to worry about that choice, and he doesn't have a choice. It's the woman's body an' all, until it's time to pay up, and then all of a sudden it's the mnan's sperm? Does the man have the same choice? What if he wants the baby and the mother doesn't? Hmmm, well, how sad... -
Yeah but you know what JB? I really don't care what it looks like I say. I'm fairly immune to the accusation of "bigotry" and "racism." I grew up in a society in which it was rampant, and often well deserved, and it's more a source of amusement to me that people here are so preoccupied with avoiding something as silly as a charge of it. Gawd, the Han Chinese are all over racism, as are the Japanese and just about every "nation," in the true sense of nation, that exists. So am I and so are you in many ways, and there's nothing particularly wrong with it. I believe this ridiculous pre-occupation with "openmindedness" and "tolerance" is almost a crippling pathology. It's been turned into a VIRTU when in fact it's a failing.

That's ok little cheerleader...I'll probably start reporting you for trolling pretty soon too, so we can both get in trouble.

Of course oral history could never be fabricated out of self-interest. Why, I am just beginning to remember something from my youth....why, yes...it was my grandad, I think...yes, we own all of the hilands and much of the lowlands, and we all recall a treaty way back when Longshanks promised my family neverending moolah for ever and ever and ever. There, how's that for an oral tradition.
