The nerve of the guy to characterize this as an apology! This Hudson Jones guy must be some shill for terrorists! Revealed! Israeli International Affairs Minister Yuval Steinitz supports terrorism! http://www.jpost.com/Diplomacy-and-Politics/Steinitz-Apology-to-Turkey-important-for-intl-affairs-308155 Terrorist shills on Jerusalem Post Staff! http://www.jpost.com/International/Obama-Netanyahu-Erdogan-speak-by-phone-307423 CNN Shills! http://www.cnn.com/2013/03/22/world/meast/israel-turkey-apology/index.html Israeli Cabinet Minister shill: http://www.timesofisrael.com/naftali-bennett-erdogan-making-israel-regret-apology/ Another Israeli shill! the Israeli government is riddled withem! http://www.haaretz.com/news/diplomacy-defense/lieberman-says-apology-to-turkey-a-serious-mistake.premium-1.511420 National Post Shills: http://news.nationalpost.com/2013/03/22/netanyahu-apologizes-for-tragic-gaza-flotilla-raid-as-israel-resumes-relations-with-turkey/ Netenyahu a shill? http://www.pmo.gov.il/English/MediaCenter/Spokesman/Pages/spoketur220313.aspx Did Netenyahu apologize or did he not? I think its pretty clear any apology is conditional upon "any mistakes"...so if there were actually any so-called mistakes then we would have an apology would we not? I think so. I'd say Netenyahu did in fact apologize. I says so because it certainly sounds very much like an apology. Sorta like "gee I'm sorry IF I caused any harm. I regret the whole thing happened" Lighten up. Hudsons right. Israel apologized.

I doubt that very much. Parties will form naturally in a parliamentary system; they have to to get anything done. -
Flaherty's Two Gambits: FTQ/CSN & Women
Peter F replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I am curious why you describe Flahertys actions as a gambit. A gambit requires risking something. What is Flaherty risking? -
Flaherty's Two Gambits: FTQ/CSN & Women
Peter F replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
While August 1991 figures the issue was brought up by the government to gain 2 seats in Quebec, that doesnt change the fact that the government policy is directed towards all Labour sponsored funds - not just Quebec centric ones but all such funds across the country. As such it is not decreasing any special treatment Quebec supposedly gets Just as well, they were a scam anyways, and were only of real use to folks with lots of money. see http://www.caw.ca/en/8197.htm -
Flaherty's Two Gambits: FTQ/CSN & Women
Peter F replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Oh, yes. Sexist may be an apt description. Personally I would add completely out of touch with humanity. A single male can have access to HELOC - no problem. But a female? Stern male supervision required. -

except for Quebec which has Quebec Civil law. And it wasnt Sharia Law courts that was proposed but Sharia arbitration . -
Liberal Art Grads Less Likely to Pay Back Student Loans

Or maybe the corporations should be subsidizing those students taking needed courses. Why should the government act as the corporate proxy -
Kimmys in reply to pliny's I would like to add that many of the CDS's were created by the same people issuing the MBS's. Hell, even more money to be made! The MBS's were safe as houses according to the rating companies, . The three guys in thier garage in San Francisco actually went out and convinced AIG to issue CDS's on MBS's. Take our money please! We beg you! they said. So no, Pliny, Wall St had no effin idea what they were doing or getting into. When Bernake and the boys from the Fed were summoning all to meetings during the crisis, the honcho's at AIG had no idea how much money they were at risk for with the CDS's. Not a clue. and EDIT to add the obvious: If Wall St knew what was happening with MBS's was insane, I suggest that there would be no-way-in-hell they would then issue CDS's. It follows that they had no idea that what was happening was insane, as you suggest, but in fact thought CDS's were a grand idea for even more cash coming in.

But it is illegal to hijack airliners even if you dont have any intent to kill anybody...you may just want to go to Cuba!. Of course doing so interferes with other peoples plans and doing so usually involves the threat of violence if the pilots dont comply. But the combining of fertilizer and diesel fuel is entirely innocent in itself. There is no apparent reason to make it illegal except as a precaution against what a very few will do with that mixture.

We have; Combining diesel and fertilizer is indeed banned, as is hijacking airliners. The fact that some folks do those things anyways - despite the law. It follows then that the laws against making bombs and hijcaking airliners impinges upon my right to blow up milk cartons in my backyard.

Well 1000 dollars bail indicates being charged with a pretty small offence...but offence nontheless. Whatever happened, the accuser felt a charge should be laid and that in itself is something to be taken a little more seriously than nothing at all.

The US, gun violence, and gun control
Peter F replied to Moonlight Graham's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Delusions of power for sure. Gun owners for all thier fancy talk of upholding freedom have got squat compared to that available at the local police station. The power of government would soon have them reduced to talibanesque urban terrorism. however they need not fear yet, since the 2nd amendment in America is a holy cow that even the politico's beleive in. In America that is. -
Khadr allways catches my attention in the news.

Canadian citizenship is a get out of jail free card? That is contradicted by all the canadians sitting in jail. and of course they get free healthcare - all Canadians get free healthcare. We all get taken out of the gene pool one by one. To support logins point, I have not seen one shred of evidence to support the claim that Ahmed Kadr was a terrorist. As Omars lawyer said, such contentions seem more like folklore than fact. -
its the NDP's fault! Afraid not. Harpers got a majority government and no NDPer sits in cabinet. If you must blame - blame the people that actually dropped it.

It won't. Employee's doing the same job will all get the same pay - excluding piece work or percentages. There is no negotiating seperate contracts. In fact there's no negotiating anything. The employer makes an offer and its take it or leave it. The individual can negotiate nothing in a sea of other like individuals. Not to mention the resulting staff issues if you could negotiate... http://www.cfee.org/en/ see Canadian Foundation for Economic Education http://www.cfee.org/en/pdf/labourstudent3.pdf

F-35 Purchase Cancelled; CF-18 replacement process begins

So should public sector employees who work for non-profit entities like school boards, child welfare agencies, different bureaucratic departments in Ottawa etc. be able to form unions and have the right to strike etc.? Absolutely. They provide a service to the employer for an agreed upon compensation. That is the same in the public or private sector. The compensation is up for negotiation either through individual effort or through collective negotiation. The source of funding the negotiated compensation has absolutely no import.
