  1. Its not...which is why I said paying down the debt isn't a politically correct move however it is objectively correct. I do notice that you highlighted my question but chose not to answer it. Are we able to ignore debts from previous years and focus on a given year as the indicator of tax breaks? Even King Ralph waited until the debt was gone before handing out Ralph bucks
  2. Not really but you do bring up a good point....it's supposed to be neutral. How about all the years it was below neutral? Those just disappear?
  3. Um....no. Objectively it should be looked at like a business. Debt is a real thing that shows up on the balance sheet. Even if your year shows a profit it doesn't mean the state of the company is all roses if the liabilities are that high. Of course employees (voters) will gladly take bonuses not knowing it actually is driving the company in the ground.
  4. And in previous years they didn't take enough which has lead to the debt. In those years they didn't raise taxes so why should they decrease them now?
  5. Sadly you are right although I do agree with SmallC. Ultimately there is an objective right thing to do..which is what SmallC is suggesting and there is a political right thing to do...which is what you're suggesting.
  6. You mean the 3.1 billion that was unaccounted for since the Liberals were in office?
  7. Harper didn't squander anything in 2007. The global financial crisis started in 2006 with the US housing bubble burst. They only called in it the 2008 crisis as that is when it peaked. Of course it's just as easy to see how the Liberals were able to attain their surpluses as our largest trading partner (US) had four years of surpluses starting in the mid to late 90s...the same time the Liberals got theirs. What makes this surplus more notable is that the US is still running deficits and we aren't. That's a good job in my opinion.
  8. Right....the global financial crisis of 2008 was all due to Harper. I almost for got about that one! Damn all those deficits the crisis...oh wait...Harper caused! Lol
  9. I agree with the basis of of what you are saying in that people should be aware of the dangers or should I say the consequences of a high glycemic diet. However the 69.2% of people are based on BMI which to me is a crude way to measure overweight people. For example, you can have a person that has 7% body fat and a fairly muscular build yet they are considered overweight on this scale. I've had this same conversation with my doctor a number of times and he agrees its vague at best. IMO, its not just the sugars but the overall carbs that are affecting us. We used to eat more eggs and meat but were told to eliminate these foods as they caused heart disease. As such our plates were filled with starches and complex carbs. I think we could easily shift back to a larger protein diet and cut back on our carbs.
  10. Do you know how many of the local mayors are against it? I've heard a couple but I don't know what the total representation is like.
  11. You continually miss the point. They are not doing fracking exploration. They are doing seismic testing. This same testing is done by scientists to predict earthquakes but yet you don't see protests on that! Its not what has been done but what the FN percieve that is about to happen. I have said it umpteen times already that if it goes to step 2 THEN they will get a further voice on the matter. But of course I can't explain this to you as you are clearly hell bent on illogical concepts. Sure...put your head back in the sand Jacee. Good luck with that.
  12. Who's following legal channels? Blocking roads and rioting is hardly legal channels. More importantly....it like Cyber has already said....the mayors aren't rubber stamping any of this. They too are against it.
  13. I agree. If you bow out of the system then that means you are leaving it for the others to decide. At this point we typically get 60% voter turnout. I have a hard time believing that 40% of the people don't vote because they don't have someone good to vote for. Rather, they don't vote because they aren't informed enough to make their decision. I would guess that only 5% or less of the 40% would have actually taken the time to inform themselves on the candidates and parties and then decided not to vote. I personally like the victim role that Brand takes up by saying that 'society' made him additcted to drugs. I have zero respect for the guy.
  14. Its only testing to see what is there....that is it. This is stage one of many.....why should everyone have a voice when the conversation hasn't even started? Perhaps SWN won't even want to continue based on the testing. Again...let's get the cart behind the horse where it belongs. Don't get me wrong....you can voice your opinion from the start but demanding that the testing stop through violence is a voice that should fall onto deaf ears. If SWN takes this to the next level then yes....mayors, chiefs, fireman, teachers....every resident should be heard. Again....it doesn't mean they will ge their way but definitely heard and consulted. I also can't help to think what kind of voice would be coming from the First Nations if SWN was giving them a significant share of the profits. I wonder if this would be an 'environmental' issue anymore.
  15. Absolutely. They just don't get to burn police cars. Thats all.
  16. And as stated earlier, the government then gave notice to the First nations which is all the consulation that is required. DId you forget about that part already? This is only the testing stage....not the actual fracking. As such no further consulation was required. They don't need consent from the First Nations to do testing. I could see the reason for enraged people if SWN had already started fracking with the level of consulation given but they haven't. As such it is quite clear that the hooligan antics of this mob put the cart way before this horse.
  17. It says the consultation was with the New Brunswick First Nations. Page 2....in the sworn affidavit section. Who else was affected....Alberta First Nations?
  18. Actually you need to read it again! Not the article...the actual injunction documentation posted. It outlines the consultation process that was taken on page 2.
  19. Global has an article which also has a copy of the recent injunction removal. In this document it discusses how SWN went through the process of Duty to Consult for the testing. They even did a Final Duty to Consult with the aboriginals. Here have a read http://globalnews.ca/news/915092/judge-rules-not-to-extend-swn-injunction-against-shale-gas-protesters/ What concerns do the community have about exploring the region for oil/natural gas? That's all they were doing...exploring! It's like I already said...if and when they decide to frack then that will open up a whole new consultation process that will require much greater depth. They can address their concerns again at that point.
  20. Jacee...the lifting of the injunction had nothing to do with the consultation efforts, As per the judge....Judge George Rideout said the injunction was no longer necessary because SWN Resources has removed its equipment and vehicles from a compound near Rexton and the protesters are no longer blocking the road. http://www.ctvnews.ca/mobile/canada/judge-lifts-injunction-against-shale-gas-protests-in-new-brunswick-1.1506003 Go ahead and believe what you want but consultation happened.
  21. The article I posted showed evidence of consutlation meetings with the First Nations. The work they are doing right now is only exploratory in nature and like Craig Leonard (NB Energy Minister) stated....its a sliding scale when it comes to consultation. For testing...they have met the duty to consult by giving notification. If they find resources, then they will take the consulation to the next stage. As per the article: As Cyber has said....this is more about the locals and not just about a First Nations issue as it appears that the consultation requirements have been met. What we are seeing is a larger group which political opponents of the provincial government and other activists generally opposed to fracking. I almost have to wonder if these 'other' groups are using or spurring on the First Nations as pawns in their game plan full well knowing they will be able to get away with more than a group of non-First Nations. Just an opinion though....
  22. Jacee...your article doesn't even mention aboriginal or First Nations. This article is discussing the local governments stance on the issue. Of course if you are still worried about consultation issues then you might want to read the following.... http://www.cbc.ca/m/touch/canada/new-brunswick/story/1.2186465
  23. I have to believe the new names are chosen to appeal to the US crowd. Most Canadians would agree with you
  24. No...his comments on the first page were about the votes in the 1960s....not 1863.
