Neil Young rocks the tar sands
Accountability Now replied to jacee's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I see you didn't touch my first question. The answer of course its OIL SANDS Community Alliance ...not tar sands. I suggest you get that right if you're going to use their data. As for your recent quote, you do realize that the Wood Buffalo area comprises the entire NE corner of Alberta including Fort Mac...right? And Lac La Biche is home to one of the largest native populations in Alberta in Saddle Lake....closely followed by Samson Cree who boasts that lovely gas line. The only reason others are chirping is they haven't got their share yet. Want proof? How about this recent article titled "Not an anti tar sands crusade" http://m.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/neil-young-concludes-anti-oilsands-concert-series-with-show-in-calgary/article16398977/?service=mobile From the article: Speaking to reporters prior to Sunday evenings concert, Mr. Young said he accomplished his goal of getting Canadians talking about First Nation treaty and environmental issues. Calgary will be another sold out show on Mr. Youngs cross-Canada tour, which has prompted a flurry of both traditional and social media discussion over the environmental effects and the economic benefits of Albertas oil sands. Our tour across Canada is to bring awareness that the First Nations treaties must be honoured if tar sands expansion is to take place, said Mr. Young speaking on stage with Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation Chief Allan Adam, environmentalist and broadcaster David Suzuki and other members of the First Nation and the tours entourage. End quote. Ouch!!!!!! I guess they do have a price tag after all!!!! Is that a good enough non-Ezra citation for you waldo? -

First....what does OSCA stand for? Second...where did I say that all aboriginals share in this? I asked what the people who share in the 1.8 billion would say. My guess is nothing because they got their money and are quite content with oil sands development. -

Jacee....you are a hoot. I haven't even touched on the topic of whether they deserve the money or not. I'm speaking on their known hypocrisy to speak out about the 'environmental dangers' when they aren't getting enough but then to shut their traps when they do. Ask those who are part of the 1.8 billion share of the oil sands if they are ok with the development. I guess my 'over simplification' is still too complex for you. -

Um no...you forgot the whole fact that GERD funding under the Harper watch has gone up 15%. Did I not make that bold enough for you? That's funny....sucking at the teet. You really don't know what SR&ED is. We pay the money up front and then get reimbursed IF we make money. They don't give you money directly it comes off your taxable income. Its still a risk to the company but you wouldn't have the slightest clue about that as the only risk you face is whether the fruit is still good. Now....from what I have gathered from your past posts....you live in BC.(Of course, another thing that you are scared to post) I would personally like to thank you as we finished a project there last year funded by the province of BC (ie BC taxpayers like yourself) and it netted just over 300k in profit. RIght out of the ol' waldo's pocket. Of course your contribution might not be that much as Overwaitea isn't paying as much lately. -

You didn't answer my question. Why the deflection? Did you or did you not post two GDP charts when they have NOTHING to do with anything we are talking about. Be honest..... -

So 60% of my 2008-2011 data aligns.93% of my 2008-2010 data aligns. That is correlation. I have specifically used the word correlation...not causation. Perhaps you don't know the difference between the two? Perhaps you weren't a university grad after all? Maybe you are just pissed at everything in life? I'll actually take your insight seriously when you figure out the GERD intensity formula. -

Yes...I've picked up on that. My thought is that he was actually personally affected by it. Perhaps he worked at a government research facility that had its funding cut and he lost his job...or something like that. -

That is a blanket statement....come...we can all do better kind of thing. Show me how Harper has done less than previous governments to faciitate/support/motivate. As per your sentence above: Taxation - Harper cut the GST from 7% to 5% - Haper cut the general corporate tax from 22.12 (2005) to 15% (2012) - Harper cut the general small business tax from 13.12 (2005) to 11% (2012) Do you seriously want him to cut more? Wow....you must be a card carrying CPC member. No wait....maybe you're actually from the US and are a part of the Tea party! -

Did you or did you not present a chart outlining GDP in PPP and GDP in USD when those two items have NOTHING, NATTA, ZIP to do with GERD INTENSITY. Be honest now. -

waldo....its been proven time and time again that you are easily confused with too much data. You start mixing numbers up and comparing things to the wrong sets. I purposely kept the two data sets apart in hopes that you could for just this once keep it together however you again failed. My first data set (2008-2011) showed a correlation for which I clearly stated that 2008-2010 showed a stronger correlation. I then presented that second set of data to prove this once I realized that you couldn't grasp it without seeing a chart. This really is a matter of dumbing it down for you. Again....you're welcome. My point above is proven in your "new data" from the Conference Board of Canada. You present all this data but have yet to show how any of it proves your OP. Perhaps adding a satirical cartoon might help? Or one of your world famous deflections at this point? -

Ah...business again. Really helps your OP....NOT. Have you figured out the GERD Intensity formula yet? -

Indicators for Canada....not for Harper. As mentioned....I have first hand experience in seeing the factilation/support/motivation of Harper's government for innvoation. I don't need your unreliable opinion to tell me its not true. -

I actually thought you were just side stepping with your normal baffonery.....but you honestly don't get it. Wow! GERD Intensity = GERD Funding for that year / GDP (Current Prices, Local Currency) Where in that equation do you see PPP or USD? You may as well talk about the goats in China as they are just as relevant. I am actually getting dumber just listening to you. -

My data is still on post 37. Never removed it. Are you suggesting that I need to repost EVERY chart and graph every time that I make a post. I trust the moderators of this forum won't appreciate your lack of consideration for their server space. Of course I see you have no problem with adding new data.... -

Adding NEW data are we? But I thought we weren't allowed to do that. Is this a do over waldo? Oh my. That's ok...I'll let it slide because this new gem of yours does nothing for your OP as Venture Captilaism and Business R&D have nothing to do with Harper. Keep trying..... -

Removed what? That data is still there. Go back and check. Never went anywhere. Two data sets. 2008-2011 shows a correlation. 2008-2010 is even more prevalent. Good ol' post 37! Keep on stumbling.... -

So my quote showing that GERD has increased which was of course taken over the 2008-2011 as it aligned with the whining and belly aching of your so important milestones. And now you feel its ok to just move the targets to 2010-2013 and cherry pick from the data so that it serves your needs? Interesting! Of course my statement of GERD increasing over the 2008-2011 period is correct. Would you like to know another correct statement? Sure you do. Since Harper took office in 2006 until the projected value in 2013, GERD is up 15%. Let me be very clear about this SINCE HARPER TOOK OFFICE, GERD IS UP 15%. This of course while going through the largest recession since the Great Depression and of coure with wildly changing GDP markers. Of course we can just stick to the milestone dates that we've been discussing...only if you want. Because its like you said four posts above: Ouch....that one came back to bite you...hey? Keep trying waldo. Or should I say....keep stumbling. -
