You keep talking about democracy but have you ever looked up the definition of democracy? "a system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives." Whole population. How does the Bloc represent the whole population? I couldn't vote for them if I wanted to. They are not a national party and should not be at a federal election based on the fact they don't represent the whole population
-
We have provinces and elections for those provinces to account for regional issues. Any party that gets in needs to represent all of Canada. How could you possibly expect the Bloc to represent all of Canada when their clearly pushing for Quebec issues one of which is the idea if separation from Canada.
-
That was my argument...Huxley just quoted my words in his response. I stand by my argument as it is based on the belief that only parties who are represented on a federal scale should be present at the debates. The Green party is and should be at the debates. The Bloc is not and should not be present.
-
Actually I don't think it really is. I can concretely say that I have not committed a terrorist activity or anything close to it. Nothing arbitrary about it.
-
The line is against terrorists, spies or those who commit treason. As long as you don't do that then you are on the same side of the line as everyone else. Being on that side of the line is being 'old stock' in my mind.

I have said it before and I will say it again....I laugh at anyone that thinks that Harper or any one 'controls' how things go with our economy. There are way too many external forces and all one can hope for is a competent person that can navigate the ship through this global economy. However, having the right guy in charge of the ship can make a difference.
-
I agree with you that the Green party should be present as they field numerous candidates in every province. That is the criteria for me. Unlike the Bloc who only ever ran in Quebec and had no chance of ever being the elected party in Canada

Looks like its mostly a scam. The guys got more aliases than he knows what to do with. http://scamwatching.blogspot.ca/2011/09/anthony-demarco-dimarco-and-china-trade.html And another https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Report-a-conartist/conversations/messages/88

No to mention, almost everything mentioned in here is from before Harper's time mostly done by the US government. Even the stuff that happened during Harper's time was allegedly done by the courts which we all know are no friend of Harper. So how again would this be Harper's fault? Or is this just another timely political piece?

Nationalism vs Bigotry, Prejudice and Racism
Accountability Now replied to Big Guy's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
I have to agree with Canada_First on this one. The main issue that I see is that we don't even know who we are versing when you say Nationalism vs.... In the past we had nationalistic views against Germans and Japanese because we were at war with them. Eventually, once the wars ended we lost those views. However, those wars ended with concrete treaties. We were no longer at war which allowed our views to change. How will our views on Islam or their views on Christianity/any other religion change? I'm not saying it can't happen but it certainly won't be smooth. I have no doubt in my mind that various sections of Islam are at war with us. I will not say that we were innocent in this as there is plenty of history to suggest otherwise however my point is that its a very confusing, and non concrete situation which is why I think you see such nationalistic response. My hope is that in time to come that we can look at these immigrants as we do like Japanese or Germans. I just don't know how long it will be and what it will take to get there. -
Its not just Canada and the US who have lowered their taxes. You may be right Cyber...it would be nice to have higher CIT but it may just not be possible in the global economy that we are facing.

I agree but I only have unsubstantiated, anecdotal stories to offer which don't really help prove anything. With that said, I know a number of high ranking business owners/managers who have outright stated to me that they are sitting on their cash at this point until they know what the NDP are going to do. They are sincerely hoping and thinking that the NDP will work with business but until the royalty review and budgets come out, these guys aren't moving an inch. This of course doesn't suggest much for outside of Alberta, especially on the Federal level where Harper has been in for a decade. So on excuse on government instability there.

Who's looking at the lower limits? Do you know how a graduated scale works? They only pay 39% in certain gradients. For the most part its 34% which again is the nominal rate. The US has many deductions that drops that rate. Its tough to make a direct comparison but it does happen. Hence the reason major corporations like Burger King pick and choose where they want to have their headquarters.

That is on the federal level. Keeping in mind that state and local taxes are considered expenses and taken off as deductions along with other items. Like I said in my post above, one can't confuse nominal tax rate with actual rates.

First off...the tax rate in the US is not 40%, its a graduated level that is around 35%. Also don't be confused with nominal tax rate versus actual tax rate.

Cyber....assuming you are correct, then how do you suggest that Canada raises its taxes if our neighbor to the south keeps theirs lower. Its like owning a bakery and the bakery down the street has lower prices. It would be nice if everyone respected a market rate which would allow both sides to bring in cash to pay for the business....but that's not the case.

I think the point being missed is that Corporate tax rates in Canada have fallen in part due to the same tax rates declining in the US. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:US_Effective_Corporate_Tax_Rate_1947-2011_v2.jpg With NAFTA in place, many businesses have the option of where they want to set up business as we have recently seen with Burger King coming into Canada because of the taxes. As such it becomes a competition to attract these large businesses with lower tax rates. Even if we wanted to raise taxes, we might not be able to as many large companies would just move their headquarters south and we would lose out on much more than we are by shaving the rates.

I would if I knew you had the first clue. As per your recent posts, I can conclude that you certainly do not. Sweet dreams and don't have too many nightmares about Harper!

Yup...still hopeless. Tell you what....keep copying and pasting your same Anti Harper rhetoric without any original thoughts. It seems to have served you well this far, especially with your recent bluster on the International Development issue at hand. Having said that, I can't hold your hand any longer.

Bzzzz...wrong. The correct answer is Christian Paradis. Thanks for playing though. This is an International Development issue so Alexander is not involved. When he is needed for an Immigration issue then he'll be there. Or would you prefer Mr Alexander address health, finance and perhaps aboriginal affairs issues too? The funny thing is you keep accusing me of following Harper blindly. Yet I have posted that i agreed that Harper lied in his statement about immigration assuming you go word for word. I am able to look at facts and make intelligent conclusions. It's really sad that you have zero ability to do so yourself. You just stick to your one liners and cued up lines from your Anti Harper narrative and just roll whether it makes sense or not. Of course what did I expect from a guy who doesn't believe humans produce CO2 when they breathe!!!!

Trivia question...who is the Minister of International Development. You know....the group that handles foreign aid situations. Hint....it's not Chris Alexander which should give you the first clue that he won't be involved and not center stage on this story.I'll wait for your answer....

Let's recap...you stated that it should be the Immigration minister announcing this foreign aid plan and I have clearly shown you that you are wrong. You have also claimed that Canada only gave money because of recent incidents involving Chris Alexander, however I have provided further information showing that Canada has been giving aid back since March when Syria wasn't a bleeding heart story to you. So again I showed you are wrong. Now your only hope is to focus on the pablum and talk about Harper? This has nothing to do with Harper or me supporting him. It has EVERYTHING to do with you getting it wrong once again. You've been shown the door, I suggest you take it.

The Federal government has a long history of humanitarian aid distributed through the International Development office (not Immigration ? ) Here is a link outlining the many recent projects including Nepal, Burma, Haiti and numerous ones in Syria dating back to March ...yes March!!!! http://www.acdi-cida.gc.ca/cidaweb/cpo.nsf/vWebCCEn?OpenView&RestrictToCategory=5303 Canada has been involved in humanitarian aid for a while now but it has only recently heated up to such measures that require more aid....hence more aid was given. I certainly do need to buy pablum as that seems to be your soup de jour!!! I got your back bud....the pablum a on me!

It was concocted because the people of Syria need foreign aid. The issue of immigration is still in discussion. I really can't hold your hand on this. Having said that, how is that waterfront property that you were douped into?
