Clearly if Canada has to pick between NAFTA and TPP then the former is the clear choice. But you are right, the social justice demands are certainly not going over well. I fully understand they have reasons to proceed or not proceed that regular Joes like me will never understand however to not show up  to a planned meeting? Its complete disrespect and offers no intent of working with these countries in the future.  I'm really hoping there is a reason other than him trying to prove a point. 

I haven't been on top of these discussions but I wonder if things have changed for Canada since the US walked from TPP. Either internally they felt it wasn't worth it now that US left or is it possible they felt some pressure from Trump to walk as well (almost a carrot for NAFTA)? Either way, not showing up to the meeting is pure BS and shows the lack of character this guy has. What a joke.

Is the ol' straw man the only argument you have? I never said the NDP brought down the economy. All I did was easily refute your claim that the 5% sales tax would have made up for lost oil revenues. I then asked the question of why would the Conservatives bring that tax in when they didn't need to make up for lost revenue. But since you don't want to answer that then maybe you can answer why the NDP has yet to bring the PST if it's such a slam dunk idea??

No. Last year payments were down to 2.5B and this year may be less. That still leaves an average of 7.5B shortfall in tax revenue. The 5B per year in suggested PST based on today's number still wouldn't replace the amount lost

A little question on your numbers....the average oil tax revenue over the last 15 years in Alberta (under Conservative rule) brought in roughly 10B per year. A sales tax is believed to bring in 5B per year. How are you working the numbers to show that 5B replaces 10B?

But this isn't what is actuallly paid....it's a statistical model created by the CBO for the attempt to compare. Look at Appendix B as they show how these sensitive factors greatly affect the overall rates. In one of the cases Canada and the US had negative tax rates.

How do you figure this to be true? The effective tax rate in the US is 27%. Canada's is roughly the same. 

People are innocent until proven guilty and if this guy miraculously turns out to be innocent then the media would have shamed a refugee which affects all refugees. With that said, the media should be all over the refugee part of this story once he is convicted. That's the problem though....the media doesn't like to wait for the story! They want it now.

overthere...i agree that their need was to get a dman. I just think giving up Hall who is a top 20 scorer and brings intensity every night was the guy you give up for it. Time will tell though.
