  1. Exactly; his politicizing and interfering has tainted any ability the Crown may have for an appeal, there is no chance for an untainted jury and a fair trial. He is also attempting to destabilize our system in order to implement his own ideology. An unbiased accounting http://www.newsoptimist.ca/opinion/columnists/there-is-so-much-wrong-being-said-by-both-sides-about-the-gerald-stanley-trial-1.23171591
  2. No one is looking for 'perfection' but they do want the truth especially when anonymous allegations can ruin a guy's life and career. The reporter(s) obviously didn't do all their research before printing, but I suppose that doesn't matter if you are out to tar and feather some one. Enough has come out now to cast more than a little doubt on their stories.
  3. Try reading this. http://www.newsoptimist.ca/opinion/columnists/there-is-so-much-wrong-being-said-by-both-sides-about-the-gerald-stanley-trial-1.23171591 Much has been made of the all-white jury. But the calling of 750 potential jurors of a jury pool is extraordinary. That was a deliberate attempt by the court to provide as wide a jury pool as possible, and certainly larger than anything I encountered. That just a sliver of those potential jurors showed up is a reflection that many people, including First Nations people, did not wish to put in an effort for this case. Perhaps if all, or even most, of those 750 people showed up, given the local demographics and substantial Indigenous population, it would have been impossible for the defence to challenge them all people of visible minorities. There would have been too many. Now Carolyn_Bennett says new legal framework will allow Indigenous people to have more control over their lives and their land more quickly. Guess that means we don’t have to pay them billions of dollars every year now. There are currently 147 First Nations reserves under "Default Management" by her own Department. Does Bennett know this? What happens to those aboriginal communities and more so now that Trudeau killed the First Nations Financial Transparency Act.
  4. She lied about her age and the location, the other woman's assertions appear not to be true. CTV's McGregor called the male who was supposed to have driven her to Brown's house, he has denied any involvement, something McGregor did not report. Brown's lady friend also refutes her story about what happened at the house. It really does seem that Brown was set up. I hope he continues fighting back.
  5. So PM Trudeau wants FB to crack down on fake news So - will that include banning CTV

Yes, those with an anti-media bias will think that CTV did zero due diligence, and have no credibility. It is interesting that it is people like Rob Ford and Donald Trump that have pushed that idea.

  7. Of course he is but the worst is from the Justice Minister who should step down. Sean Robichaud is a Certified Specialist in criminal law by the Law Society of Upper Canada who says: Whether it is the right, left, or any political leanings, it is wholly inappropriate for elected officials to publicly undermine findings of a lawfully delivered verdict; particularly when it is one of a jury. The response is to silently appeal, not publicly shame.
  8. Had to post this:

Liberal MPs will open Winterlude Friday and they will do that at... wait for it –

Snowflake Kingdom. From the media advisory:

There are no impartial members of the SC. Why would any president appoint an SC judge that isn't partial to HIM?

  10. Funny thing is, Brown is a teetotaler. I wonder why the accusers didn't go to the police, why go to the media first unless it was strictly for political reasons.
  11. I didn't realize Brown was not in high school in which case it is more serious. However, let's hope that this is an opportunity for the party to appoint a reasonable leader who won't rig nominations and so on. Ontario is losing another company due to Liberal policies, Ontario cannot afford to let the Liberals win, which is why I don't understand how anyone could possible vote for them. Also note that the second accuser actually returned to work for Brown, the next year.
  12. Innocent or guilty Brown is done like dinner, which is a sad commentary on today's social justice system. What happened to a day in court and innocent until proven guilty as he is categorically denying the allegations. I also agree with BC about Wynne. I wonder if the accusers are Liberals as the timing is suspect, this could tip the election in favour of the Liberals (heaven help Ontario) I'm inclined to disregard the first accusation which allegedly happened in high school where I'm sure a lot of that stuff goes on; not that it's acceptable but I doubt he's not the first or only guy to do that. The second one needs to be investigated and Brown cleared or not. Also, why are the accusers allowed to remain anonymous, considering they have ruined Brown's career, innocent or not, surely they should be under some scrutiny. I hope they can get a decent interim leader.
  13. Do those eating Tide pods identify as washing machines?

Maybe they had self identification issues, and were hoping a wrist bracelet would help them.

This is for a news dept. Tailored to young people, so what makes u think its acceptable to deny an internship to a particular group of people and why do u defend discrimination

  16. Interesting, didn't think about that... wonder if her parents think about it too.
  17. No, but they should interview the parents to find out who put her up to it. I want an apology from Trudeau and Wynne who were quick to blame Canadians for Islamophobia as they cried their crocodile tears. Bet they'll find some excuse why not to apologize.
  18. Quite a cliffhanger in Turkey today.

  19. They had negative reps. although fewer than the positive, but removed them because of complaints. I would suggest that new posters not be able to give out reps for say 3 months.
  20. Maybe they should start giving carbon quotas to families.   Have more than two kids, pay a lot more carbon tax.

    1. OftenWrong

      OftenWrong

Then if I don't use my quota, because I didn't drive to work and I have a high efficiency heating system, etc. I should get a tax credit. That would make sense to me... provide incentives for using less fossil fuel, in addition to taxes for using too much.

  21. Our media and the Liberals had a meltdown over Peter Mackay's use of govt. jets as in 4 years Mackay racked up 35 trips logging 250 air time hours.  Now,  just 17 months Liberal MP Harjit Sajjan has racked up 20 trips  and over 200 hours of flight time.  ----what’s that you say - crickets from the  media and the Liberals.

  22. Usually people who request a meeting with the PM are vetted. Either the RCMP did not vet him or more likely they did but Trudeau ignored the issues; issues that the RCMP would've known about and advised Trudeau on. I can only imagine the uproar if Harper had done that. Wonder what Boyle meant when he said they had 'common interests'
