  1. No certainly not. But the fact remained that Harper could speak directly to Quebecers without be translated, paraphrased or misinterpreted.....that surprised Quebecers I believe...who perhaps viewed the CPC as the illigitimate offspring of the western quebcec phobic reform party.....and that cause them to say, lets listen, lets take him seriously. While Quebecers abandoned the Libs in droves, the Blocs appeal is still large and everyone including duceppe was astounded that they didn't pick up the lionshare of the liberla votes. And that laurel can be place directly on Harper's lap.* *how it pains me to give harper credit.....pains me........the horror......
  2. The Liberals had cut taxes in the past umpteen budgets....what was surprising is once the Harperites got elected they raised taxes....
  3. Took him only 3 years to find Canada....his Yale BA came in handy
  4. Absolutely self serving. Especialy if the self is serving to keep your nation alive. As I said, no one should stand by and allow your actions to be handcuffed by histroy. There is more than enough history to go around and it isn't just Israel with a black past. Israel has a duty to her citizens to fight her enemies. Her past should not stand in the way of her future.
  5. We found a space because: We only wanted part time daycare, 2 days a week as opposed to 5, ending at 3:30 PM. In the same location as my daughter' public school. We would have had a tougher time if; our daughter didn't go to school there, if we needed full time care. ...and our anecdotal story has no relevance on the rest of Canada. To be fair, you are right, if money is not the object, daycare is not a problem. In fact, for those who can afford to I wholely recomend they keep their children at home.....but for those who have little choice, the single parents, the families struggling with two incomes, daycare is not a luxary.
  6. I find amusing that a poster who says he ain't religious would spell god, g-d. Myself I call him Phil.
  7. Exactly what are "Canadian national values"? I think it's disingenuous to even ask. Canada is founded on the basic enlightened policies of bedrock western liberalism which elevate the value of the individual and his or her freedom and equality, as well as basic justice and compromise. Canada's culture is one of tolerance for differing opinions and beliefs, and respect for those who wish to express them. There is none of that in Islam, and, in fact, the core values of bedrock liberalism are diametrically opposed to Islam, and vice versa. What a conundrum.....so in effect, to deny multiculturalism and to shut the door on new Canadians is to deny our "Canadian Values" of individualism by treating muslims as a group, to deny their equality by treating them differently than white europeans and to turn our backs on tolerance by being intolerance towards muslims........
  8. I don't know that this isn't already what happens by the third generation anyway. A study in Sweden found that over 90% of third generation Turkish "Swedes" went "Home" to Turkey to find a proper wife, so they could raise their children as proper Turks. Wow...a number that large should have a link...i think
  9. It is not a question of forgetting, it is a question of putting aside what is irrelevant. Like the US, founded by treasonous revolutionaries and criminals.......water under the bridge I say. Why on earth would we want to be handcuffed by history? But if you say Hezbollah is fighting to establish an independant state, and thats why they travelled to south america to murder south ameican jews......
  10. Comment?? True but the fact remains that no party without significant representation in Quebec can hope for a majority. That is why Harper spoke French when ever and where ever possible. The result was the surprising defeat of the liberals at the expense of the blocheads.
  11. If you need to be paid to vote, I would not want your vote, or even wanting you to vote period. Then we agree, paying citizens to vote is a bad idea.
  12. Comme j'ai suspecté Je suspecte qu'il ait glissé en anglais comme courtoisie aux autres
  13. I'll day one thing. Pay me to vote and I will fight for more elections.
  14. Coffee, Nose, Spurt...... Okay..you found an article after hour of googling.....from the Unification Church Times...... Except that you didn't read it...... I wouldn't dream of belittling you, not when you are doing such a good job all on your own.....
  15. Okay....for me a favourite book is one I've read and re read over and over....... Vanity Fair (the novel, not the mag....) Tom Jones (the novel, not the wag) A Tale of Two Cities The three Musketeers Twenty Years After Man In the Iron Mask Count of Monte Cristo (The novel not the sandwich) The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire The Illiad The Odessy Herodotus Histories Livy Histories of Rome Churchill History of the Second World War The Bible (KJV American Standard) Ivanhoe And so many more
  16. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/sto...y/National/home No kidding. My 2 1/2 will be starting nursery school/daycare next week. 2 days a week, 8:30 to 3:30. Cost: $320.00 per month Now I'm not saying I want the government to hand me more money, the $100. we get now is $100.00 more than we got for our daughter.....it's just that, well, $100.00 is fine but lets not pretend it;s childcare cash it's bleeding mental health money....we spend it on date night...dinner, wine, baby sitter and consensual marital sex..... But there is a real issue here....that the gov't pandered and bought votes.....in a time when daycare spaces are sorely needed ...this cash going into my pocket creates zero spaces.
  17. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/sto....NDP11/TPStory/ And there you go....Hezbollah is a Political Party! and like the NAZI party, have an armed element which conducts terrorist activities inside and outside the country......And like true chamberlian like fashion.....they decline to call Hezbollah what it is.....
  18. BOOM What's wrong with the image thingie|?
  19. Sounds like spurious anecdotal non evidence...since when is a Forest fire a finite measurable unit? I seem to recall forest fires came in all sizes; local CBC news, regional CBC news, provincial CBC news and national CBC news ...... It would also be irrelevant non evidence as that forest fires of all sizes have been occuring since time began.....so given that forest fires are with us always....what accounts for the prodigious rise in co2?
  20. He can also fire up a room better than a cash bar at a NDP convention....
  21. Back in the cold cold cold war, every nationalist movement was seen as an extension of global soviet revolution. Not that the soviets didn't stoke the fires, but at the same time the actions of the west ccornered and isolated the nationists until it became a self fulfilling prophesy. Now that being said, there is evidence that jihadists ( ) like modern day che Guevara move from conflict to conflict; from chechnya to iraq, from irag to Afghanistan, from Algeria to Egypt..... ......but unlike Che, they aren't bagging every penelope cruz and jennifer lopez wannabe on the way....
