The question is with who will the establishment replace him. There are probably a small handful vying for a shot once the green light is given.

RFK Jr. has been burned by Trump once already so I doubt he would accept that position.
He might consider an AG nomination.
That said, if he isn't the nominee for the Democratic nomination, he will run as an independent.
There is a political vacuum in the U.S. and RFK Jr. aims to fill it.

I feel Sanders will continue to lose support now that he has hitched his cart to the establishment candidate, while alternatives exist that champion the causes Sanders once campaigned on.

The establishment and their media allies will try to censor or discredit him. Independent media, on the other hand, will and is giving him a platform.
Different vibe with this candidate. Agree or disagree with him, but the man appears to be honest and a man of integrity.

IMHO, he is not like Ted Kennedy in 1980 against Carter.
America is a country full of surprises. As Stephen Harper has noted, America has a wonderful way to solve its problems, resurrect itself.
A lot of talk, a lot of buzz about and around him over the last few days - much of it positive. Expect to see the Empire striking back soon.

I think his chances are slightly better than 50%. Johnson will likely focus his efforts on New Mexico, Colorado, Nevada, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine. If he can poll well in these states, other parts of the country may look at him more seriously.
I think his numbers will creep towards the 15% hopefully hitting the target in time.
