This suspect certainly looks like he fits the description of someone who would re-offend. However, sexual abuse falls below other crimes when it comes to re-offending. Hopefully, they will catch this guy soon. This thing that is happening in our society is a lot more than just a crime. It is something that has to be rooted out early and treated before things are acted on.

There have been some experiments with Urgent Care centers across Canada. They have been good at streaming people away from emergency rooms to places where stitches or broken bones can be knitted. This is, granted, only a solution for an urban hospital. Ultimately, hospitals that partner with a private clinic could offer a 24 hour walk-in services. A triage nurse could make the assessment at the door as always and stream people accordingly. Good for the public health system, good for the private practitioners.

The Six Nations have historically also been know for war. Is that not true? -
Supreme Court to Decide Metis Claim
jdobbin replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
This recent discusson doesn't address the Metis claim here. Since they are not classified as Native or European but as class by itself, they have some unique issues. Their land claims may cover both traditional Aboriginal and and land presently occupied by the majority of Manitobans. If successful, could the land claim make Manitoba disappear from the map since 3/4 of the population resides in the territory? -
But who would makes up this force? No one with any sense would want to submit themselves to suicide bombings or Israelis tactical shelling.

I dunno about the NDP. They have been absent all summer from any meaningful discussions. -
Not all resources are as lucrative as oil. B.C. went into have not status mostly as result of a collapse in forestry and mineral prices. Alberta spent a good portion of its early years in a "have not" status.

It might not be necessary if we all submit to implants on our bodies so the government can track us.

I'd like to see the security concerns go back to normal with the Canadian/U.S. border but we seem to be moving in the opposite direction. I just wonder how much tracking we will allow of citizens over the next years.

Six Nations Crisis- “Canada’s Pandora’s Box?”
jdobbin replied to NativeCharm's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It is a little hard for people who may suddenly be evicted from their home to have faith. You are dealing with fear and it usually trrumps faith. Your ideas of how non-Natives may or may not become citizens does not inspire hope. -

You wouldn't. That's because they aren't Indians. http://www.cjob.com/news/index.aspx?src=lo...l&rem=43790 -

Land. The details of the case are extremely complicated though. I don't think anyone knows how it will end. -
Six Nations Crisis- “Canada’s Pandora’s Box?”

Since no one knows what the outcome would be in such a transfer of land, I have to ask. The entire city of Winnipeg is claimed by the Metis. No one is certain what it means if they win in the Supreme Court. -
Equalization to Saskatchewan is very low. Both B.C. and Saskatchewan will probably be off the equalization payments shortly. Prices for resources in each of those provinces have pushed them back into have status. Newfoundland may be off equalization in a short time as well. Provinces not so blessed by natural resources will have a harder time getting off equalization.

The problem in Manitoba is a shortage of doctors and nurse in summers. It means our E.R.s are understaffed.

Hmm, so there may be a basis of truth that health authority has some incompetence preventing better service. Calgary has an increasing number of young people in it. Lots more children being born and there's no way there should that much travel time to hospitals or waiting in hospital lounges. I had heard that some in Alberta say that the province never fully recovered from a combination of federal and provincial cutbacks. However, if money has been restored, planning resides with the provincial government is getting things right.

Six Nations Crisis- “Canada’s Pandora’s Box?”
jdobbin replied to NativeCharm's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
So you are saying that if the Six Nations had land granted to them that had a majority of non-Natives on it, they would have title to the land the occupy but no vote on larger issues of who is, for lack of a better word, is "making the buses run on time?" For some people community politics *is* national politics. And what you describe *is* dual citizenship. -
Six Nations Crisis- “Canada’s Pandora’s Box?”
jdobbin replied to NativeCharm's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
This is what a lot of non-Natives fear. They think that they will have no standing in land that goes to First Nations and they will be evicted. You have said just now that they receive no standing. They are not likely to be granted membership in a First Nation either for fear that they might ask to become part of the province where they are located. -

Bi-elections don't take a lot of time. If he had resigned, Harper could have called an election immediately and he could have been in the job in a few weeks. If he won... -
I can't see a deal happening either.

This is why I can't accept at face value that people who live on claimed land would not be evicted. -

He could have done that immediately after resigning from the Liberal rather cross the floor. He can still do it now. He has shown a contempt for the riding that will be hard to dismiss later on. Even people who voted Conservative there are not happy with him.
