I'm sorry, but I thought the whole idea behind voting in someone like Trudeau was he'd be a breath of fresh air and do everything differently?
I'm voting for Trudeau because anything is better than the current government.

You're being kind of rude when all I was doing was apologizing.
-
My apologies. I didn't realize when you said you know of no one who refer to himself as a former citizen, you were including me. But how am I attempting to speak for you? I'm only trying to understand what you're trying to say (or imply).
-
I didn't say I was a former citizen. Don't put words in my mouth. I said I am a former Israeli, as in a person who formerly lived in Israel. But I can see why you now realize it's a peculiar thing to harp on.
-
Not really, since you avoided my question entirely. How is how I describe my relationship to my former home "very relevant?"
-
No, it's not "off topic" since you brought it up; and since you felt it was relevant to the comment you were responding to, I feel as if your reference to "former" may be very relevant to what you've had to say. It's an odd choice of words, IMO, for someone who still retains their citizenship.
I don't think it's that odd considering I formerly lived there and don't anymore. Saying otherwise would suggest I still live there and I don't. I think it's more odd that you would latch on that at the expense of the topic at hand. What is it about my emigration 30 years ago that you think might be "very relevant?"
-
That's because it's a different policy now.
I love Israel and always will so don't try to bring that into it. Tell me how the policy is "different." Specifically, beyond the chumminess of the leaders, what has changed?
-
So then you're still an Israeli, as you're still a citizen; I wondered why you would renounce your citizenship.
Since I don't live there anymore and likely won't, I consider myself a former Israeli. But that's getting rather off-topic.
-
"Former" Israeli? You renounced your citizenship?
No. But I left in 1984 when I got the opportunity to come to Canada. I've been back twice, but I doubt I'll ever live there again.
-
Exactly. Netanyahu and Israel are not the same thing, and as a former Israeli I find it offensive that anyone would make that conclusion.
-
But Obama has distanced himself from Israel like no other president.
Why do you say that? Obama's policy with Israel is the same as every other president.

I found Ford's answer of "I smoked a lot" was refreshing and honest. Harpers answers were curiously evasive though. Rather than saying "no", he said he had asthma and asked whether he looked like he smokes pot. Why not just answer the question?

Corporate support in this country has historically been overwhelmingly Liberal.
That's your opinion. I say it's right wing and you say it's left wing. I guess it's somewhere in between us.
-
That's an unsubstantiated opinion that has no basis in reality.
The reality is the media is owned by a number of right-wing corporations. That is a fact.
-
That's a fact.
No, that's an unsubstantiated opinion that has no basis in reality.
-
Your opinion is baseless and has nothing to do with reality whatsoever. The corporate media has divided a mostly conservative population into two opposing groups of conservatives. There is no liberal agenda.
-
So what was his "red line" talk all about?
Just wait. It won't be long now. They'll get the cruise missiles you're asking for.
-
This seems to confirm that he is all talk.
People on this forum are so quick to judge. Apparently his current meetings to plan a military action aren't quick enough and he should have responded before it even happened.
-
What with all the people who have been wrongfully convicted, maybe it's hasty to even state an opinion (as fact) about the convicted. Sometimes evidence is misleading. Leave them for G-d to judge!
-
Nope. Making a claim, saying 'this is the way it is,' is a judgment. Saying the cop is trigger happy is a judgment. Getting inside the cop's head is a judgment, with absolutely no evidence whatsoever.Again, there is a whole lotta difference between a "theory" and all the claims that "we've seen enough to know.
You appear to be arguing that it's okay to make theories. Just don't believe them.
-
I didn't make any judgments. Do you not know the difference between making a judgement and questioning something? Making a judgement would be declaring that the crown is doing this because ..... Questioning if the crown could be perhaps doing this because.... is not a judgement. You, and a few others here, might want to learn the difference between the two.
You have to be a judge to make a judgment. Forming a theory based on available evidence and presenting that theory is not a judgement. It's just another form of speculation.
-
if you don't like reality, deny it.
(Or do crack, I guess)
-
Just because you don't care doesn't mean the rest of the country doesn't care
-
Good job. But can you explain your point? Do you really think the status quo is fine where individuals can access assault weapons to kill children if they want to? Do you really think they shouldn't look at how that individual got access to those guns and do something about it? If so, do you really think you would feel the same way if you had a six-year-old family member shot in the head in that incident?
I think the gun nuts have been feeling guilty and defensive and are realizing this event might just be the straw that broke the camel's back. I don't think any of them would have the guts to answer your questions though. It would only make them look worse than they already do.
