The answer is simple: they are detached. Locked into an alternate reality they persistently paint and create for themselves and a string of wake up calls does little or nothing to dispel it. Privilege, entitlement to govern. Elitism, best for me in place and ahead of the best for the people. "I can" syndrome. And it goes on and on. Oh well.

Absolutely. Democracy isn't an oversized diaper that can hold any sh*t. At some/one point, the choice has to be made. And was made, for whatever it's worth. And we can watch it in real time, right here. Gloating and dancing, without a spark of thought to answer a simple, obvious (in a working democracy) question: does the law apply to everyone, and equally to everyone? Not a chance. Well no miracles here. Democracy isn't some magic wand. It cannot and won't work like that. Not a chance. Time to reset the timer.

Its real and it's here. Justice does not apply equally to every citizen. Done Justice does not apply to some. Done deal. The precedent set: for all mob bosses, criminal masterminds you name it, in perpetuity. What's next? Puppet shell, marionette pseudo justice that can be twisted and turned any way, like in other such "democracies"? Why not? More importantly: where and how is "not"? But look, where is the surprise here? This was a yes or no question, a plebiscite to grown up citizens with a clear, unavoidable meaning: does democracy still mean much or anything? In this new time, as in every new age grown up responsible citizens are called to reflect and make this choice and determination. And the choice was made, and has been written now into the books of history. So don't get surprised now. Don't protest - against who? the mirror? Memory issues, in the mirror image? Own dumb and irresponsible choices? No, you have to own it and all of it now. There will be no quick fixes, cures by grandeur, glorious tradition and/or empty words of the past that mean little or nothing in the new world you chose: consciously and knowingly. Sure, you knew.

Moral disorder of our time; hatred of Israel
myata replied to blackbird's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I don't buy into versions of morality where only the crimes against and suffering against specific ethnic or other group matter - it's an unfailing recipe for "eye for an eye" violence to dumb eternity. The law can be universal or it's no law, only an excuse, rationalization etc. The state of Israel is not an innocent victim here: it executed, persistently and over time a policy of removal of native population from its land, de facto ethnic cleansing, a crime against humanity. It doesn't and cannot justify acts of genocide. But it cannot be erased from the reality either. State of Israel committed crimes and abhorrent crimes were committed against its citizens. The cycle never ends. This is objective reality. You are not the first one to hope that ways of the past, long past could solve problems of today's world. But the time never goes back so it's really a dumb idea, past naive. It will fail as it did every single time it was tried. Past will not solve our problems. But if we let go of sanity and responsibility, there's always one default solution that will catch up, sooner or later. -
Moral disorder of our time; hatred of Israel
myata replied to blackbird's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I've no intent of worshiping any idols, including any one state, ideology, religion etc. That is very simple: observe, think, decide for yourself. You have the eyes and the brain. They exist for a reason. No fetishes. And no idols. And I think those who pretend or insist on that may have a bit more more intelligence than a dead rock or naivety than a newborn and so it has to be that: lying. See it for what it is. The eyes and brain evolved, in billions of years, for a reason. -
Moral disorder of our time; hatred of Israel
myata replied to blackbird's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
- Does a disagreement, or less than absolute agreement with all policies and/or actions of the state of Israel amount to "hate of Israel"? - Is universal morality conditional on or/and requires absolute and unconditional support of every policy and political platform of Israel? - Do we really need more of religion-pumped and inflated pseudo-moral crusades? Hasn't the past taught us anything? -
There are issues and words that can define an individual, their standing and character. Ridiculing Poland fighting Nazis in 1939; Britain in 1940; victims of Nazi prosecution; victims of Soviet repression is plain and simply, disgusting. Morally and intellectually of course, because if Putins, Uns and Xis of the world were allowed to run free and wild what kind of world would it be? Only an accomplished !diot with f*cked up sh*t of trillion-level power for the brains could not think and understand that much. To me, the individual has lost all credibility, morally and intellectually. An empty shell of a human filled with hot air of ego and dough, drowned in the ages-old delusion that money and power can produce or buy respect, vision and wisdom. And of course he is one of the key faces of the formerly proud political institution of democracy, now having given itself to a brainless authoritarian personality cult, voluntarily and in full knowledge. Make no mistake: these words and facts go into history. They will be viewed and judged by generations of humans and the number of zeroes will add not a slightest argument to their judgement.

Biden/Harris parting gift to the world: A World War
myata replied to West's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
And so: standing to aggressive thugs, bandits and tyrants of the world is now a big no-no. "A world war". Anathema. See it for what it is: there isn't a grain of misunderstanding or exaggeration. This is really and de facto burning all bridges to the essence of America that was. Just so you knew. No surprises. -
Converts cannot admit of course a catastrophic degradation of decency. Joking about Holocaust victims, Srebrenitsa, Rwanda and why not? No, seriously? So they're looking away pretending that nothing much happened. La-la-la. Dumb and disgusting, only a bit dumber than disgusting, or is it the other way? What a breed.
-
1000 days of fight against the worst aggressive tyranny since the days of WWII. Today. Now. Stand on the sidelines. Look the other way if you will. It's not about Ukraine, not even close: it will define you and the world you will live in and leave to your children. How silly and beyond naive to pretend to not see and/or comprehend this plain fact of reality.

Yes standing to thugs any way one can is better, immensely and without comparison to sucking up and cowering to them. No universal excuses. This is a watershed moment, a chasm between the old America of liberty and principle and something that doesn't even know any longer what it is and stands for. Nothing lasts forever without reason and will to stand for what's right. Only another clear and sad example of what happens when we forget that.
-
Standing to aggressive maniacs of the world is now "scumbag". Embracing and cowering to them, has to be a newly found virtue. What a change, lacking for words. One can find the finest specimen of the new America no further than here. "Burn all bridges to decency and normality" nothing less. Could one accept that, with anything less? Lofty words mean nothing when the reason has left. Proud history will count for nothing. See it for what it is - or it will consume you whole. Of course, you knew.

Binary political systems evolve to end the democracy
myata replied to myata's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Back then, masses were mostly clueless about politics. Quite possibly, it was the only form of political system that could be functional while having some democratic legitimacy. Otherwise, people would be electing gang bosses, priests and generals, etc. And now, it just doesn't represent the society, only caricature, grossly simplified and distorted image. It creates divisions, skews the entire point of democratic governance from focusing on and addressing key interests and problems of the society to winning pageant contests. And they are helpless to populism and worse, once it makes it into the system. All facts, as seen. A desperately outdated system without a renewal will deteriorate and decay all the way to the factual end of democracy. Inability or failure to adapt means degradation and extinction. No miracles. Nothing lasts forever in the entropy world. All things that keep working require reason, care, and work. -
Biden/Harris parting gift to the world: A World War
myata replied to West's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
In 2022 Putin was giving ultimatums to NATO. Then he invaded an independent European nation whose security and territorial integrity was protected by nothing less than America's solemn commitment. But cowering to and smooching with the ugliest totalitarian thugs on the planet is the new essence and spirit of America. See it for what it is as the entire world sees it. In history, there are no excuses. There's no way someone couldn't understand a fact of the reality. Even a rock knows it. The purpose is different: to reconstruct the reality itself. To blow up, destroy the real one and construct a new one from lies and fairy tales. That much is obvious. -
Every day terrorist regime of Russia unleashes massive bombardment of cities of Ukraine. This is brutal, aggressive fascism of our time - nothing less, objectively and factually. And this is who one of the prominent figures in the incoming administration ridicules, publicly. Let's ridicule victims of Holocaust - and why not? The strategy is clear: they want to burn the bridges to everything America used to be and stood for: freedom, principles, the law and justice, integrity, democracy. Till nothing is left and anything can be ridiculed, on a cue. This is what it is. And it's the face of America, now. What could one add? On Saturday, the American billionaire reacted to news of Zelenski's remarks on his social media network, X, and particularly about Zelensky saying that the US cannot force Ukraine to “sit down and listen” in negotiations, and further stressed that “we are an independent country”. “His sense of humor is wonderful,” Mr. Musk responded with a laugh emoticon. Shameful. Simply disgusting. That one act speaks everything about the individual. What can it be redeemed by?
