Liberal track record under Dion
Charles Anthony replied to mcqueen625's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Please provide a link to the quoted text. --- The title of this thread was initially: title: Hypocritic Liberals It has now been altered to avoid provoking an inflammatory or insulting discussion as well as to convey a more precise description of the topic. -
This thread is devolving into one more September 11th, 2001 thread of which there are already a few active ones. That can not happen in the News and Help section of the forum. I encourage further posts of this thread to stick to the premise of the Opening Post. When you encounter an insult or any infraction of the forum rules, use the Report function associated with the offending post. In your report, briefly describe the infraction. Your report will be sent to the moderators and addressed. Do not expect a follow-up response either public or private to every report made. There are now two. I have recently been assigned the role of a moderator. My responsibility involves dealing with spam and formatting issues as well as the discretionary authority to address violations of forum rules. Only the forum Administrator, Greg, can decide that. Send him a Personal Message with your suggestion.

Meaningless, Uninformative Thread Titles
Charles Anthony replied to August1991's topic in Support and Questions
That inflammatory thread title has now been altered. -
The title of this thread was initially: title: How Flim-Flam and Steve sc***ed over the taxpayer... subtitle: And some think Harper an economist..... It has now been altered to convey some semblance of objective accuracy as well as to avoid provoking an inflammatory or insulting discussion.

Jack Layton Says Surrender.....
Charles Anthony replied to M.Dancer's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I really hate this kind of crap.No kidding. It really takes away from people's arguments when they use insults like that. Aren't insults against the forum rules anyway?Correct. The title of this thread has now been edited to reflect accuracy and to promote civilized discussion. -
Kosovo-why so important to the US? geopolitically speaking
Charles Anthony replied to kuzadd's topic in The Rest of the World
Nothing was deleted. The two threads were combined into this previous one created only a few weeks ago. All of the your posts are present in this very thread. Further explained in your Deleted threads thread. -
Multiple concurrent discussions will be merged
Charles Anthony replied to ScottSA's topic in Support and Questions
Before starting a new thread, check to see if there is a current and active thread dealing with the same topic. If there is, continue in the active thread and do not start a new thread. extracted from the Kosovo thread Correct. You could if you recognized your own posts. No threads were deleted. Two threads were combined. The explanation is that there was an active thread on the same topic. Thus, the two threads were combined. He is not aware of the fusion of these two threads in particular. He is aware and has authorized the fusion of multiple threads. If you disagree with this decision, report it to him. Nothing was deleted. The two threads were combined into this previous one created only a few weeks ago. All of the posts are present in this very thread. I hope so too. I am at a loss to explain how it is that some people do not recognize their very own posts from the redundant thread which are now in this thread and intact. Likely. Do you not recognize your own posts in this thread? It will.---- By the way, I suggest you guys consult the following thread: Using the [ Quote ] Feature: Avoid using more too many quotes! Redundant quoting and re-quoting and super-quoting and extra-quoting is next. -
Meaningless, Uninformative Thread Titles
Charles Anthony replied to August1991's topic in Support and Questions
Personally, I would not want to make any changes to the those two recent examples identified in post #6 up above for one reason only: to illustrate what NOT to do. If you can call that "pass one of the others" so be it. The irony is that this thread was opened over a year ago and we now have (at least) two RECENT examples of threads with non-descriptive titles degenerating rapidly into directionless rants. -

For the time being, use the Report function to indicate what the correction should be. If you are the creator of the thread, the correction will be made as soon as we check the messages. The new Forum Facilitators will likely have the privilege of receiving those Reports as well. Thus, such errors could be corrected with minimal delay. I do not know.--- If my lame attempt at injecting irony and sarcastic humor in post #3 up above has gone over like a lead zeppelin, please, just ignore it. . --- Back specifically to the query of the Opening Post, Greg's reply does not explicitly identify whether he agrees to the suggested remedy or not. I will be sure to clarify this issue with him. -
Sometimes all I can do is pray that people are being as sarcastic as I often am and leave things at that.

Who are they? What is their cultural identity? Where are they in the political spectrum? These are just a few questions. I want to explore life (past and present) for Quebeckers who are of both English and French ancestry. My suspicion is that they represent a group that has very little outward representation. There are lots of members on this forum -- both lurkers and regular posters. I invite those who might identify with these questions to share their experiences or to relate the perspectives of friends and co-workers. This thread is not an argument nor a debate on my part. Myself, I barely have any knowledge and even less of an opinion. Quebec and French-Canada are a cultural phenomenon that provides a constant marvel to me. Maybe these Franglo-Quebeckers share a similar identity that the Acadians, y inclus ceux de la Louisianne, felt in the past. I do not know. This thread is triggered by a current article in what I consider to be a highly reputable yet still entertaining newspaper spotlighting a recent album released by a Quebecker: Voir.caThis hit me like a ton of bricks because I honestly started reading this article with the explicit bias stated in the article: I thought his cultural-duality was a fabricated public relations stunt to sell him to a wider audience. I first learned of him when his Pigeon d'argile -- great record! by the way -- came out just over a decade ago. Until I read this recent article, I honestly assumed he was just un Quebecois de souche who knew how to rock and he would not have been the first one at that. The few tracks that were sung in English seemed like a fleeting attempt to step out of Quebec. Now, I see he is more unique than Nanette Workman or Roger Whittaker. Coupled with observations made by Aug1991 in a few other recent threads: and I want to learn the political and cultural frustration encountered by mixed-marriage or dual-identity Quebeckers. DISCLAIMER: I am singling out people in Quebec because of the gradual identification of Quebec as a nation -- regardless of what that means -- but I see no reason to make restrictions for this thread. I pray that this thread does not degenerate into anti-immigrant nor anti-French nor anti-bilingual rant-a-thons.

Overpass Collapse in Laval, Quebec
Charles Anthony replied to August1991's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Whether there is an election in Quebec again this year or not, maybe this issue will be indirectly resurrected in the minds of Quebeckers. Canoe GeofFrey, Maybe the director, Denys Arcand, shares your desire for media restraint.... CanWest ...but do you think he shares your optimism over fixing the system through judicial inquiries or the like? TheRecord.com -- KitchenerProbably not. -
The Make BeLeafs players wear outfits while hockey players wear uniforms.
-
Are you one of their fans that would still buy season tickets and fill up the Air Canada Center even if the hockey players never showed up on the ice? In other news: Photo: ReutersThe Make BeLeafs wear costumes but all other teams wear hockey uniforms.
-
No. I do not agree. I see "hooking" calls arising from light inconsequential touches while tripping frequently goes unnoticed. -- when Southern teams go out of business or no longer draw crowds or the other teams manage to draw more advertizing revenue. You mean change the way points are counted AGAIN so that Ottawa does not get the President's Trophy? I like the concept too except that I wonder if it will succeed commercially. You would have to map out the regular season schedule. Will teams play eachother an equal number of times? This past year, Ottawa played Detroit only once and never played Anaheim. Weird. Maybe that means the Ducks are not even worthy to be beaten by the Senators.
-
Speaking of careful wishes and players on the ice, McGrattan and Gerber should play.
-
Golf! Sabres! Golf! If Detroit beats Anaheim, that would continue the following trend: in every calendar year that ended in ---7 the Stanley Cup has been won by either Detroit or a Canadian team.Again, the officiating is horrible.

You would not know a true anarchist even if you read the entire Hugo's defence of anarchy thread. Who is this "we" of which you speak? Welcome, Olya, to the forum. Your rant is seething with prejudice too. You can not understand the concept of rational too. You can not stay focussed and you change the question mid-argument too. Too many coincidences. Correct and therefore, I quote: Michael Rozeff for the Ludwig von Mises Institute Like I said before, there is a reason I insisted that our discussion continues in this thread. Although I think of myself as a very creative person, my opposition to coercion certainly does not comprise unique thoughts of my own.

Eliminating spam/advertizing and helping members with the quoting functions of the forum software. I will put an end to everything else including my nasty sense of humor. -
Go! Sens! Go!

Eureka! However, LeafLess beat you to it. There is a good reason why I insisted on answering your questions in this thread. Your understanding of free market anarchy is both lacking and prejudiced.

I just noticed something intriguing. This thread is the 666th topic in the Moral & Religious Issues sub-forum.

Who will next lead the Parti québécois?
Charles Anthony replied to August1991's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
There are very few things that Ottawa does for Canadians that is important that can NOT be done by the provinces. Can you imagine what I think of Canadians who supported a government that did that? You have finally figured me out. I have been exposed! -

Socialism permeates throughout France. If you think you can defeat socialism in France, you may as well send M. Sine-Folia over there to tell them to stop speaking French while you are at it.
