Some of you seem to be struggling with the same disappointment. All these Lefty Harper haters are dealing with. The prospect that the Left's GREAT HOPE Duffy* is going fizzle and the GREAT Get Harper SCANDAL is going to be the usual phony fabricated mess of nothin. We have all been told to wait for this jarring testimony and what we are seeing is that it has NOTHING NADA ZIP BUPTKUS to do with the PM. Yet, like all lefty scandal monkeys desperate to invent their owm Adscam, these losers wont let the lack of any evidence, involvement or knowledge on Harper 's part impede them from squealing their unsubstantiated allegations. Why is it that after months and or years of exhaustive investigations by authorities , all of which resulted in only charges being laid against Dufffy, we still have to endure these weak lame attempts to try and tie the misdeeds of others to the PM? The PM didnt know, wasnt involved Wright made a mis calculation in his attempt to solve Duffys mess. Bad decision When the PM did become aware..he took action, removed Wright, cooperated with RCMP I think most people except CBC staffers and Central get this , and a few here who lack basic understanding.

I was die hard socialist for many years. Over the past year I have been discussing politics with many people of very different political stripes. I've come to the conclusion that socialism doesn't work for me anymore. I don't call myself a Conservative either. Right now I seem to be sitting in political limbo. I do seem to like the ideals of Libertarians. FYI, I wasn't paid by anyone to post here. The accusations here against me become more outlandish by the day. Why is it so hard to believe people convert?

If the NDP win we are done. They wreck every province they have had power in. And not just the normal "wreck" that comes with most governments. DESTROY. There has never been a successful NDP government. This is what will happen if the NDP get a majority: 1) All guns but bolt action will be outlawed and even bolt action will have to be registered again. 2) $15 min wage. All small businesses close or lay off over 50% of their staff causing MASSIVE unemployment. 3) The ENTIRE petroleum industry dies due to severe tree hugging. Power bills will skyrocket and fuel prices will triple. 4) EI and welfare will be handed out to everyone that comes to Canada and to pay for it, taxes will go up a LOT. The wealthy and middle class will have less to spend and the unemployment will get even worse. 5) The military will be GUTTED and what marching orders there are, will be taken directly from the UN. This is the fate of Canada under the NDP.

Every province has to go through an NDP Government once to remind themselves why they should never form Government. We did in BC. Ontario did. Alberta is learning. Maybe it's time Canada did. It's kind of a rite of passage. Like getting drunk on lemon gin as a teenager. It seems like a good idea at the time. Until you wake up the next day.

Pretty pitiful that the progressives are hanging all their hopes on a trial that is about fraud of a person who was not even in the House of Commons - as if someone giving money back to Canada is a scandal even if the PM did know about it, which I doubt he did. And besides who cares.

The claim by the OP could be true.

I was a socialist, but am one no longer. I don't know who I'll vote for.

Be a law abiding citizen and you have nothing to worry about. This doesn't concern me at all. Not even one little iota.

Harper to Double TFSA Limit to $10,000
socialist replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Somehow, among the left, it has become "normal" to suppose that leaving people with more of their own, hard-earned money is a "loss", or "costly". It's partly the politics of envy and partly financial illiteracy that brings them to this conclusion. -

Replace the revenue? Less money going to waste in Ottawa and more money in the hands of those who earned and saved it to spend it as they see fit. Sensible hard working Canadians understand this implicitly. It's just common sense which seems to be sorely lacking in the NDP and Lib policies. -
So this is why I'll be voting Conservative

Canada’s corporate tax rate has fallen from 28 per cent in 2000 to 15 per cent today. Yet tax revenue has grown since then by 31 per cent, with a 46 per cent growth in personal taxes. So why does everyone want to increase corporate taxes? -
The platform with the most gaping holes is the NDP. Just looking at the list here I estimate an additional $30 billion in new spending. National daycare and tripling our foreign aid, to bringing back door to door mail delivery. These are enormously expensive, unnecessary programs. Where on earth will this money come from? There is no plan whatsoever for economic growth or job creation from the NDP. Indeed, their proposals will clearly hinder and stall growth (increasing just about every type of tax, carbon taxes, rejecting every pipeline). Notice how there are hardly any solid numbers attached to the NDP proposals (compared to the Conservative or Liberal platforms). These are all vague promises. It's time for Tom to start answering some hard questions.

I know this will happen if the Libs/NDP /Green win: 1)no income splitting 2)no family benefit cheques 3)legalized pot 4)CPP contributions go up 5)corporate taxes increased 6)increase foreign aid 7)open constitutional reform talks again.....Meech Lake anyone, this is probably dangerous only way to remove senate though so good luck with that. 8)increase transfer payments to provinces for health, education, cities and also environmental items. 9)no bill c51 And as well, the recent crtc rulings on internet, cell phones and tv, forget those as well. The Liberals are firmly in Rogers and Bell media empire so I expect those to be reversed. So the 2 items I see the left all excited about... pot and Bill c51. 1)legalize pot it will be way more expensive and your buddy down the hall wont be selling it anymore 2)your buddy down the hall is the only one freaking out about bill c51. funny how the NDP however wants to make a government survey mandatory, so much for privacy rights. As much as Id like to see the Senate removed, I know I just know there is no way this will occur, Quebec and Ontario wont agree to it so that one is a out and out lie and the candidates know it. The rest, just restoring government spending, departments and salaries cut by the Conservatives, The unions and their buddies in the NDP/Lib coalition are the only ones upset. As for the voting changes, that one will condemn us to eternal elections and leftist coalitions, if this occurs I d suggest that anyone who doesn't want to live in Greece 2 to seriously consider leaving..that's whats coming, Anyone remember when the Bloq held the balance of power? That's what the NDP/Lib want..yippee!

It blows my mind that the NDP and Libs think only rich people have savings. Clearly Tom Mulcair has no savings as he's remortgaged his home 11 times in recent years and increased the debt every time. This from a 60 year old ? You can bet his entire financial plan depends on remaining on the public payroll forever. Typical socialist. Do we want this guy running the public finances ?

Harper to Double TFSA Limit to $10,000
socialist replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Unlike you, I don't want the government to control every aspect of my life. I am no longer a statist. TFSAs are such a great vehicle for saving. Harper understands the real needs of the majority of savers from all income levels and he knows it's best to get out of your way and let you save your own money tax free. You can then decide what you need to spend it on. The NDP and Libs just don't get it. They think it's best to send all your money to Ottawa and let THEM decide how to spend it for you. -
Wow! I'm no longer a union zombie, socialist loon, and everyone has it out for me. Guess what? Jimmy Crack Corn and I don't care.

Harper to Double TFSA Limit to $10,000
socialist replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
TFSA contributions CAN be carried forward just like RRSP's. What's more if you have existing savings or investments in regular taxable accounts, you can move the eligible amount into a TFSA each year and render those savings non taxable. So you don't have to save the amount you put in each year if you are unable to do so, but you can gradually work your existing savings into non taxable status. Another huge feature is you can take all the funds out tax free and then put that full amount back in as long as it's in the next calendar year. So you never lose your accumulated tax free base amount. Used properly this can benefit virtually anyone with savings of any kind who now pays taxes on their investment income or interest earned. It's a brilliant way for government to encourage Canadians to save for their future needs of any kind. And all the givernment has to do is get out if the way and make sure limits are observed. This responsibility is managed by the financial institutions for the most part, so it's not a costly program to run. -
To the right of Stockwell Day? What a strange comment. Is that because you feel there should be a monopoly on political ideologies? Anyone who disagrees with your mundane, politically correct views is a far-right extremist? Nothing I have posted indicates Jobbik tendencies, like you accuse me of. I've come to see Trudeau in a new light and I am embarrassed that I once supported him. I've spoken to many people, live, as this forum is not my life. I've had interesting conversations and some very eye-opening conversations. Personally, I could care less what people like you And Mike Hardner think. Some of you think you are forum legends, but you are not.

I don't consider myself a socialist anymore. After much deliberation and self-reflection I see socialism as a system that rewards the lazy and unambitious. I know many people who have converted. Some of you are stuck in the lie of believing everything you hear from sources such as the CBC. That used to be also, so don't fel bad. You simply need to reevaluate the situation.

I k ow the recent NDP governments in Nova Scotia and Manitoba have been disastrous. And who can forget the Bob Rae experiment in Ontariowe.

Why I wont vote NDP: Cancel government’s income-splitting policy for families; says it helps only wealthiest 15 per cent.: no it does not, it benefits many i know, thus an income increase – Reverse changes to TFSA contribution limits; says higher amount helps the wealthy and does little for middle-class Canadians... no it does not, I added more as well – Increase income-tax rates on Canada’s largest corporations to about the levels that existed before the Conservatives took office.,, more corp taxes means less investment and jobs – Create $15-a-day national child care program, and create or maintain one million affordable child care spaces across Canada. no idea how to pay for it thus a tax increase coming – Cancel Conservative decision to increase OAS eligibility age to 67.,, thus no sense of reality on how to make the system fiscally sustainable since many have noted its not unless you either raise rates or work a bit longer – Increase Canada Pension Plan contributions and benefits for Canadians. thus raising taxes yet again. This is just the top if the iceberg.

Harper to Double TFSA Limit to $10,000
socialist replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Lots of comments on here about the TFSA's. Cdn's weren't saving enough, so Harper came out with this, and by all acct's, it's been a huge success, drawing Cdn's into saving. There's also a lot of false information put out by the Left, like somehow, it'll cost the Gov billions in the distant future. Huh?? Say wha'???? Cdn's get a tax break the year of the deposit. There's no further cost to the Gov down the road when they take out the money. There's misleading articles like this one in the Globe and Fail, that seems to suggest if you don't use up your limit this year, you can transfer it forward, like rsp's, when in fact it's non-cumulative, rendering the entire article false! http://www.theglobeandmail.com/report-on-business/economy/economy-lab/how-tfsa-expansion-will-hit-future-tax-revenues/article613260/ -
So this is why I'll be voting Conservative
socialist replied to Argus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Harper stands for a balanced, centrist approach to governing. He understands we are a great country and don't need fundamental change, we just need to respond to change in a positive way.. Trudeau and Mulcair want more government control, to manipulate the way we vote to benefit their parties in the future, and they both stand for unbalanced, unsustainable budgets. Pretty obvious choice if you want to keep Canada one of the great nations of the world! -
We are consistently #1, #2 or #3rd best economy of the G7 during Harper's small c conservative gov't and closest to a balanced budget. Like all developed countries we need more well paying manufacturing jobs, but with the rise of the under developed economies offering lower wages, that is a struggle that all of the G7 countries face. Socialist rhetoric is not a real answer. Obama's beautiful speeches did not bring back manufacturing jobs in the US. Look at what the left is accomplishing in Greece. The NDP or any other socialist gov't has never delivered sustainable economic policies and well paying jobs anywhere in the world. Liberal policies in Ontario has led to the a total per capita debt load double that of California. I wish taxing corporations and overly paid CEO worked to create jobs but there is no historical evidence that it works in the long term. I wish there was a Santa Claus and tooth fiery. Realistically, kicking out Harper for emotional reasons is likely to lead to a weaker economy, more debt, less jobs and a loss of social programs.
