  1. I agree. A lot can happen. What are your predictions for BC?
  2. I was a socialist, but i've grown to realize the errors of my youth. I now consider myself to be more of a libertarian. i
  3. The only thing Harper's "old-stock CDNs" comment did last night was smoke-out more Liberal media shills.

      Argus

Is this supposed to be a controversy? He said newer Canadians and old stock Canadians. I knew what he meant. What's the big deal?

Dion and Mulcair have also used the term. The media party up to their old agenda driven nonsense. Dumb Canadians fall for it.

It’s a good thing “old stock” is getting so much attention…if not conversation could stray to, say, health reform & our unsustainable system

  4. I understand polls. But it's looking pretty good for the NDP there. I understand it did last prov. election, but I think this is different. Why do you think Mulcair has so much appeal to BC residents?
  5. Many on the left want a $15 minimum wage. But they fail to realize that companies will downsize or use computers or robots to do the work of former minimum wage employees. One of America's fast-rising economists, Aaron Clarey, discusses this. This was an interesting 20 minutes from Captain Capitalism.
  6. Mulcair uses Saskatchewan as proof the NDP can balance a budget, but auditor says the province ran deficits.

Plus it helps to balance budgets when you're given billions of other provinces money.

  7. JustinTrudeau is 11 points behind in his own riding! He's in danger of losing his seat!

  8. Intelligent? Is that why the NDP is leading in BC federally?

  10. NDP just released fiscal framework. Let me sum up: Tax. Then Spend. Then Balance. Maybe.

  13. The Finance Department released the REAL numbers ending March 31, 2015. Those numbers are REAL numbers as they happened in real life. The Auditor General department verified those numbers BEFORE the Finance Dept released them. Here are some facts for you, real facts: "Moreover, the Finance Department shows spending by veterans affairs was up $121 million in fiscal 2015 or 13% and spending by aboriginal affairs was up a whopping $1.9 billion or 29% compared to fiscal 2014. Federal transfers to individuals -- old age security, EI benefits, and so on -- were up 5.9%, well past the annual rate of inflation. Ottawa also sent more money to provincial capitals in 2004-2015. Those transfers were up 4.4%. All of these numbers, by the way, got the seal of approval from Auditor General Michael Ferguson before being released."
  14. Good thing the Liberal war room dusted off Chretien to remind us of Liberal smear & hypocrisy.

    1. capricorn

      capricorn

And while said war room was setting up adult supervision for Trudeau Jr., his handlers failed to prep him for the release of the Annual Financial report. "A war room forewarned — as it was on Friday — should be forearmed. On a day when everyone and their uncle knew the big deal would be surplus or deficit, the Liberals sent their leader unprepared. And then it failed to follow up later in the day in any substantive way to challenge the numbers or the economic record of the inc...

Oh, I had not forgotten Chretien and his legacy of theft. No reminders required.

  15. How could Harper possibly have seen the tax revenue increase without having seen the actual numbers? And the actual numbers were released TODAY!!! The Harper government was not out that much.In fact, their prediction was very prudent. It came out better than expected.
  16. No doubt this is good news for the country and shows that Harper and the CPC are the only ones capable of running the show in good times or bad. Unfortunately the average liv has little or no interest in the economy. Rather they are mesmerized by such things as free daycare, Syrian refugees, mindless platitudes and scoldings from Jean Chretien. Who, by the way, should know enough to mind his own business. I know that if I had a hand in bilking the taxpayer of $40 million, I would have sense enough to keep my head down. Surpluses, deficits, debt, income splitting, tax free savings accounts ... these are all subjects that the liv doesn't understand and has absolutely no desire to explore further. They have to be made to understand that a p*ss poor economy always results in higher taxation and, more within their sphere of knowledge, less "free" stuff.

      Moonlight Graham

Well to be fair, Harper gov policy since the 2008 recession has been to run deficits in order to stimulate the economy during a recession. Basic economics 101. We're back in recession now, maybe we should run a bit of a deficit, instead of trying to make it a wedge issue?

In the 10 months or so I've seen our government governing increasingly not because it's best for our country, but because they think it will best ensure them re-election. Pandering to a mob of uninformed idiots (us).

I'm sure he didn't have to beg anybody. I'm sure they both like having their names in the headlines again, plus it shows Trudeau can consult on issues as opposed to the one man show he is hoping to replace. Smart move.
