  1. Has the prayer at the convention lead to airplanes being flown into buildings? Do you belive that these people praying at the convention will fly airplanes into a building? What consequences are you worried about?
  2. If you're not involved in politics enough to know who Dion is you're probably not going to vote.
  3. I don't see a problem with praying at the election. Who cares? Whether they are Christian or Muslim, they are entitled to their beliefs. Also, I'm pretty sure these people who were praying were not suicide bombers either, so where's the problem?
  4. So he has an accent. He speaks just fine. My french sucks, but I understand him perfectly well in English.
  5. I don't care how it's spelled, thx. That's not really anywhere near as important as getting the simple math of the poll wrong, as you did. Actually, if spelling is the issue, you should tell punked that it's Strategic Counsel not Strategic Cousel. But, I agree, spelling is not important.
  6. Where does it say that? Nevermind. Thanks Gerry.
  7. A new poll suggests that the Liberals are ahead of the Conservatives with Dion as leader. If this holds, Dion will be the next PM. I figured that since the Liberals chose Dion their numbers would go up. Afterall, they were more or less tied without a leader and the prospect of having someone like Rae or Ignatieff. Now that they've chosen someone who is much more liked than either Rae or Iggy, it only makes sense that they would do better in the polls. Here is the quote: Link
  8. Their platforms may not be identical, but I believe that Kennedy's platform is closer to Dion's than to Rae or Ignatieff's. That's also what he said in an interview, that he has some differences with Dion but that the differences are much less than Rae or Iggy. More importantly, I think they are closer in personality. One of the reasons I like Kennedy is that he appears to have more integrity/honesty than Rae or Ignatieff, and to a lesser extent I see this same trait in Dion. They are also the (relatively) younger candidates without the baggage of Rae & Iggy. I still stand my by statement earlier that between Dion, Rae & Ignatieff, Dion is the most electable. If he can't win an election, neither would Rae or Ignatieff. I agree that Kennedy could easily win the next leadership. But I think there are other reasons (as I've stated above) to support Dion other than the fact that he is from Quebec. If you want to take the more cynical approach and believe that Kennedy made his choice based on personal gain, I think it would have more to do with the fact that he supported Dion because he knew Dion would support him if he were in third place. Kennedy and Dion both knew they wouldn't have a shot at the leadership unless they supported eachother. Then again, it wasn't really their choice to make anyhow. The delegates were not obligated to vote for Dion after Kennedy dropped out. If they did not agree that Dion was the best choice, they wouldn't have voted for him. Kennedy may have gained from Dion winning, but what did the delegates who actually voted for him gain?
  9. What is more important to you, words or action? Would you be satisfied if Dion talked big about accountability but then did nothing about it. Or would you rather have a man of integrity as Prime Minister who will not be a part of the culture of entitlement, without making a big noise about how accountable he is?
  10. I just have to disagree with that. Dion and Kenneday (part of the loyalist team) made a pre-aranged deal with each other that they would support one another to secure their votes. Insiders were the only ones allowed to vote, not 300,000 party members which would have changed the outcome. When 6 of 8 contenders are going to Rae for support, that should sent everyone a message of what was going on. Dion won due to typicall, Liberal inside deals and corruption. It could have been Kennedy just the same. (lets not forget how several months back Dion and Kennedy were spotted in a Toronto resturaunt having dinner together). In typical Liberal style, a minorty spoke for a majority and special interest got it's way. That's fine for now, but not when there is a cou within the Liberal party possibly led by Stronach. Mark my words. Last night proved that nothing has changed within the Liberal party. Dion and Kennedy have acknowledged their understanding. I don't see any problem with it. Dion & Kennedy believe that they are more similar to eachother than to the other candidates. It's no surprise then that Kennedy would support Dion and vice-versa. Apparently, the delegates agreed. The delegates were not forced to vote for Dion once Kennedy dropped out, they were free to choose how they please. Show me where the "corruption" is.
  11. Sorry, but I disagree. Dion was elected because he was the safest candidate. Period. Isn't that exactly what I said? Isn't saying "he is less hated" equivalent to saying he is "the safest candidate"?
  12. Dion was elected because he is less hated than the other candidates. It was the "anybody but iggy" combined with the "anybody but rae" movement.
  13. Could be worse. The conservatives supposedly got rid of Rae. Would you rather him be the leader than Dion? And, I don't know much about Alberta provincial politics, but Stelmach seems to be a good "compromise" candidate dont you think? I know you supported Morton, but there are a lot of people in Alberta to the left of you who wanted Dinning...Stelmach seems to be the compromise.
  14. B.C. has fixed elections as well.
  15. CBC announced that Stelmach has most likely won (still counting the ballots apparently).
  16. Can I vote for none of the above? King would be one of the few people who I would rather vote for Harper than him.
  17. Dion was not one of the people siphoning off money for the sponsorship scandal either. I don't understand this criticism that Dion is from Quebec. Who cares? Does it really matter to you where someone is from? If you think his policies are somehow selling out to Quebec, I'd be interested in hearing those concerns and debating them. But a simple "he's from Quebec, that's bad" just doesn't make much sense to me.
  18. Whether the Liberals win the next election or not, Dion (aside from Kennedy) is the best hope of all the potential leaders to win the next election. It will be interesting to see some polls come out soon now that the liberals have a leader.
  19. Better than iggy no doubt? Where is Biblio to eat his words?
  20. Maybe not, but I still think he has a better chance of winning than either Rae or Ignatieff.
  21. The latest news, 3rd ballot: Dion: 37% Iggy: 34.5% Rae: 28.5%
  22. Now that Kennedy is out...I guess I'll go with the lesser of three evils....Stephane Dion.
  23. Yes. At least I am. I wish I could have voted for the liberal leader, but I don't have that much money to waste. It should be free. Come election time, which is the only time I can vote for free, I basically have a choice between only 3 people, none of which I particularly like. Sure, I could vote for a fringe party but then I'd basically be wasting my vote.
  24. First Ballot Results: Iggy: 29.3% Rae: 20.3% Dion: 17.8% Kennedy: 17.7% This is going to be a close one...I think every ballot will be close...
