Obama and Hillary went the wrong way round; They should have elected Hillary eight years ago and now she would be leaving office and Obama preparing to become President. But as things went Hillary is hopelessly yesterday's news.

People who join street-patrols observing peace often tend to be themselves far from being peace-loving types of people.- 42 replies

I disagree. Except for the 2010 Vancouver-games the Olympic hockey has been in the big rink when as the Canada Cup/World Cup has been in the small rink. Hockey is just so much better in the small rink. And this is coming from a European. Others may disagree and it is their right but I won't budge.

If Trump is so bad why did the republicans place such mediocre candidates such as Cruz or Rubio against him? Haven't they really got better to offer? If so, isn't that quite a worrying thing if such a large party is in such a state of disarray that they even elect a presidential-candidate the party doesn't want? A lot of questions but little answers.

The Canada Cup was played five times, 1976, 1981, 1984, 1987 and 1991. Canada won four of those tournaments and the Soviet Union won one in 1981 which was certainly a sweet victory for them. Of course they belittled the tournament when they didn't win it but the 1987 finals were probably the most classic series ever been played.

Btw, is it too late by now with elections only two months away to withdraw the candidacy in favour of someone else?

Provincial Government Powers?
-TSS- replied to JamesHackerMP's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
I think the trend is towards centralisation anyway even though in theory constituent parts of the federation have their own laws. The EU is a prime example. -
If only the Democrats gave the candidacy to Sanders he would beat Trump hands down because nobody really wants Trump but as long as they stick with Hillary, Trump may win because even less than nobody wants her elected. It really begs the question why are they so adamant on sticking with her. She's simply not fit for the job but perhaps she's got something to blackmail her party to back her.

Not sure to be honest. At least the 1996 and 2004 tournaments of Finland's matches were televised.
-
I remember watching those classic 1987 Canada Cup finals on TV so they were televised at least in Finland. Ican't remember was it only the finals or the whole tournament.

No country in this age of automation needs immigrants except for the poorly paid low-wanted jobs. Most of those will disappear in the future; buses, trains and cars will drive themselves, cash-clerks won't be needed any more and certainly other examples where human labour will have become redundant.
-
Often traditional beliefs co-exist with Christianity and people see nothing wrong about it.
-
As many other posters here have said many immigrants can't read or write in their own language despite being adults but gain entry while many Europeans don't because they are too old or lack university-degrees.

If I really really ever had to move out of Finland my choice would be Denmark. That country still seems to have retained some common sense. Their politicians don't seem to be brainwashed idiots like our Finnish ones.
-
As I said nothing. Even though Finland is going to collapse big time in the 2020's and I expect serious unrest and breakdown of society this is my home and only cowards escape.
-
If I wanted to move to Canada I couldn't pass the points-system because I'm over 35 years of age and I don't have any existing relatives in Canada nor do I have any special skills that Canada is in short supply of. That's fair enough. Not that I would really want to move to Canada anyway but the likes of me don't belong there. It's just the different rules for different people which is not fair.

Have you ever visited Finland?

I can see that cultural-marxist brainwashing seems to have travelled across a wide ocean to North-America as well.

Soccer has largely escaped politics unlike the olympics where two olympics were ruined by boycotts. First the 1980 olymoics which the USA boycotted and then the 1984 olympics which were a tit-for-tat boycott-games on part of the eastern bloc. There have only been two times that politics influenced decisions in soccer was in 1992 when Yugoslavia was banned from the European Championships and the first occasion when in 1950 Germany was banned from the world cup. However, I expect this to change as the 2018 world cup will be in Russia. If Ukraine and the Netherlands qualify they will most likely boycott the tournament and many others will refuse to participate a tournament boosting Putin's ego.

Fair enough.

I'm not Canadian, I'm Finnish, therefore I can say "they" about Canadians. Aren't you Canadian yourself either?

Canada is a country based on a robbed land in the first place. Therefore calling in more people worldwide quite aggravates the initial robbery.
-
The United States and Britain are without doubt the most wanted destinations for immigration followed by Canada and Australia. Therefore you have no problem about the quality of the immigrants, if that is even appropriate to say, as many highly skilled ones are certainly heading your way. It's a totally different situation here in Europe. European countries get the ones who are not wanted anywhere else.

I concur with the previous posters. All the best for you Topaz.

I don't totally disagree with you. Namely, as if you go to the British Museum in London you will see all the jewels and treasures there on the show and the British are showing them off as if it were their property as in reality everything was robbed and stolen from their colonies, mainly India which really would be like America today if it were not for the British rule.
