  1. Abortion was not mentioned in my post. I purposely left it out as the debate is still on whether or not the fetus is a full-fledged human being. Isn't that what most people think god is? A superhero who will resuce them (after they follow this rule and that rule and prostrate themselves) to an afterlife -- rescue them from the finality of death. A human being wrote down those words. There is no evidence whatsoever that an invisible entitiy dude wrote them down. I am not blaming god -- how can I blame something that does not exist? I blame human beings for not having the ability to grow up and face the reality that we are simply human animals with no afterlife, and no one looking after us. We are ON OUR OWN. LOL
  2. In what way? Please, be specific -- I think we all need to "learn" how the "female" are ruining the "men". BTW, the word "female" goes with the word "male" -- female means all those in the animal kingdom that have a womb -- male means all those in the animal kingdom that have a penis. the word "women" goes with the word "men" -- women are female humans, men are male humans. Unless those were "men" squirrels and "women" squirrels I was watching this morning LOL
  3. There is nothing in either Christianity, Judaism or Islam that either promote or condome female genital mutilation. It is a cultural occurance. I will assume then that this bigot is also against culture, everywhere. Well SOMEBODY condones it because it is widely practiced in numerous countries. I am "against" any culture (or religion) that actively promotes the destruction of human beings. Whether that be forced circumcision for baby boys, female genital mutilation for girls, suicide bombings, stoning, cutting off of one's hands, etc. If this makes me a bigot (and I really don't get how anyone can consider these ideas "bigotry") then so be it. I hold all religions in distain. Two days ago a little girl got run over and died. "God in heaven" said one of my coworkers. "There can't be a god if innocent children die" said another "Where is he when we need him? Why didn't he pluck that little girl up just before she got hit?" I thought -- "god doesn't exist, that's why" ... but I just kept my mouth shut
  4. And that makes you no better than those who proseletyze for religion. Well I look at it this way -- if it weren't for the non-believers we would still be stoning and burning witches. If and when secular levelheadedness takes root in Africa and the Middle East we will no longer see women as chattel or female genital mutilation. Most all injustices in the world are committed in the name of "god". It's shameful that human beings are willing to kill one another (and themselves) for a conspiracy theory (albeit an old one). My wish is that the world will become secular so that there are no longer people willing to die for an invisible entity.
  5. Tough noogies. I will, for the remainder of my life on this beautiful place we call earth, try to wake people up to the fact that there is no invisible dude judging your every move, there is no invisble dude gonna grant you an afterlife, there is no invisible dude period. Each of us has less than a century to live and we should concentrate on the here and now rather than some weird conspiracy theory that we get to go to heaven if we believe in the correct "god". "God" should not ever enter into everyday life. "God" belongs only in the heart of the human that believes. Not in our schools, not in our parliament, not in our hosptials, pharmacies or taxi cabs.

  7. Is God Poison? Until religion is abolished off the face of the earth people will use it for their own "ends". ESPECIALLY when those "ends" mean wiping out or converting everyone else to the one "true" faith.
  8. We're not? Why else would America be there if not to secure the oil supply. Yes, electric cars need to be at least as dependable as the vehicles we currently (pun unintended LOL) drive and at least as affordable.
  9. The debate is not whether or not the climate is changing on a world-wide scale, but WHO is responsible. Nature or humans? We cannot "save" the planet from itself. We could not have stopped the global warming 10,000 years ago either. We need to learn to adapt. Mother Nature does not care that people live on the coasts -- they will have to adapt (move). The places that now grow all of our food will no longer be able to do so -- we will have to adapt (grow it elsewhere). Some species will die off -- well, where are all the Mastadons(sp) today? -- are humans responsible for their demise or is Mother Nature with her everchanging earth climate?
  10. Why? Peak oil is a theory that the amount of oil we have left on earth is limited and that we have reached a "peak" (apparently some say it was reached in the 70's)... the easy access (e.g. Iraq) oil is running out but there is lots left (only it is more costly to get). Yes, the earth's climate is changing. There is nothing that we can do about it as it is a naturally occuring cycle. Rather than running around screaming that we all need to park our cars and live in the dark (or that NOTHING is happening) -- we ought to be preparing for the change -- anticipating what changes will occur and how we can adapt to them. The only reason I see for the interest in the electric car is to end our dependency on the Middle East.
  11. IF there is no such thing as global climate change -- why bother with the electric car? IF there is no such thing as peak oil -- why bother with the electric car? If the globe isn't changing why all the interest in alternate cleaner energy sources? Hmmmmm?
  12. A true poet of the English language. Too bad Chretien and Dion have polluted for your country such a great language. psssst -- jbg Churchill was British, not Canadian. Nothing, NOTHING is sexier than broken english ;-)
  13. $1.21 per litre in the Fraser Valley today. Gee I wonder how people are going to afford to eat anything trucked in. Dang pathetic these gas prices are.
  14. That Leafless, is simply not possible nor is it realistic. Even in Iran when young folks get to university the classes are coed. Throughought school the sexes are kept apart. Perhaps men simply need to learn how to control their impluses.
  15. "Based on our negative population growth"? What Hindus don't have children? You say you would not agree on your sons marrying Hindu (etc) women but at the same time you say you would not urge your children to discriminate -- bull**it! BTW, What "etc"?
  16. The Ten Commandments 1. You shall have no other Gods but me. 2. You shall not make for yourself any idol, nor bow down to it or worship it. 3. You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God. 4. You shall remember and keep the Sabbath day holy. 5. Respect your father and mother. 6. You must not kill. 7. You must not commit adultery. 8. You must not steal. 9. You must not give false evidence against your neighbour. 10. You must not be envious of your neighbour's goods. You shall not be envious of his house nor his wife, nor anything that belongs to your neighbour. The last six make sense but the first four do not. Remember folks -- these were written by men centuries ago. (Not laser-beamed down by an entity) If people were worshipping numerous entities it would be more (much more) difficult to control their actions. Having one diety ensures that people will "follow orders".
  17. Yes, religion makes oppression tolerable -- as in "I can live through anything because of the afterlife God has set up for me." Yes, we need to stop putting mythological religious beliefs on pedestals. Religion (spirituality) should never leave the household, should never be part of the wider culture. But it is only 2007 and we do have religious societies (yes even ours) --so if you are going to go to a country ruled by "religionA" you ought to obey the rules of "religionA" while you are there. The oppressors of the past forced people to believe in "one" god. What they called a "true" god. This so-called "true" god is no more real than the multitudes of gods worshipped by people in the past. It was more than a peck on the cheek -- He did the 'ol swoon swoop and planted a big one on her mouth -- she was very embarassed (as even a free open western woman would have been in that circumstance) Although the swooping smooch may be acceptable in the west it isn't in some other countries. Shall we force those other countries to adopt the swooping smooch? It is perfectly acceptable for me to have sex with hubby on the couch -- shall we come over to your house? How big is your couch? Hope it doesn't squeak -- I hate having to shoo 3 year olds away during orgasm.... What right do you have to tell me I can't? Pffft. I will do what I want when I want no matter who thinks its unacceptable. Now do you "understand" ...when in Rome....is the same as "when at John's house" or "when in India"... You cannot say "well its okay in my home/country so I am going to do it here". If you do you are an utter clod with no manners whatsoever. Now go get the kids off the couch -- we are coming over.
  18. If you need an invisible father to rely on that is your issue, not mine. I have faith in gravity. I have faith that the sun will rise each day -- the difference is I do not put "faith" into something that is utterly unknowable. And yes, thunder IS caused by angels going bowling and rain really IS tears of god. Sheesh.
  19. Gee but I can't change the world with one post so I guess we have to expect that different cultures have different ways of doing things. I am from a country that smacks all people over 5 feet in the head. Does that give me the right to visit your country and smack all the tall people? Of course not. Culture and religion are not the same thing. Native North Americans had culture but no "religion" per say.
  20. Yes, actually, it is. Less and less people believe in an unknowable entity/creator. And this is a very good thing. The human race IS slowly growing up -- and the more we debate the subject of religion, the more common sense will prevail. Of course I have to "take the world as it is" -- can't really go anywhere else LOL -- my ultimate wish (as wishes go) is that we stop killing one another whether for oil or god or whatever.
  21. Marijuana does not make one "high" -- it makes one "mellow". Although I do know some folks who get a spurt of energy after they smoke... After a really stressful day, nothing mellows me out faster or more efficiently than smoking a bit of weed. Cocaine, LSD, etc make one "high". Of course the Olympics banned marijuana -- would kinda slow the athletes down LOL. I do believe they are not allowed to be drunk on alcohol either... so what's yer point?
  22. The point, Scotty is... no matter the religion, sooner or later someone is going to use it for control. Someone is going to use it as an excuse to kill another human being. God (Allah, Jehova, Beanhead or whatever you call it) does not exist -- there is no such thing as a father/judge in the sky. We are all orphans waaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh! LOL Like I said -- the human race needs to grow up.
  23. Ah, does that work both ways? When they come here, should we expect them to adopt our belief system, or at least respect it enough not to try to change it? For Pete Sake -- Gere did not move there -- he was a tourist Do we expect our tourists to bring their laws with them or do we expect them to obey our laws while visiting?
  24. What nonsense. Booga booga bad Islam IS out to get us. At least according to them. And I don't know, after a couple hundred attacks on us, and hundreds of attacks in the name of Islam a month around the world, one would think that even the dimmest mind would begin to perceive an itsy bitsy problem with a "tiny minority" that happens to number in the tens of millions. Booga Booga! ALL religions are false. All religions create strife. Just so happens that in 2007 Islam is the "bad one" -- who knows, by 2100 maybe some other religion will be the "bad one". Just as Christianity was the "bad one" centuries ago... Religion is a method used by those who want to control others. Period. It has nothing to do with "spirituality" in the individual sense at all. So Scotty -- what do you propose? Kill all those who believe in the "unknowable invisible allpowerful" entity called Allah? Should they convert to believing in: 1. Jehova 2. G-d 3. God 4. Jesus 5. Buddah 6. Voodoo 7. Santa Claus 8. The tooth fairy 9. The Candyman.... LOL all are equally plausible because they are unknowable. Death and mayhem has been (and still is) committed under the guise of "god is on our side" -- pathetic pathetic pathetic. Pathetic -- whether it be a Muslim killing himself in the name of Allah or the Christian believing he will be "sucked out" by Jesus during "rapture". I don't care whether or not folks think I "understand" their "need" for organized religion. I think folks are crazy to believe we are being judged by some entity in the clouds. IMO the human race needs to friggin' grow up and stop depending on some judgemental "father" in the sky.
  25. I'll get back to you when your comments aren't hate filled rants on religion, with such easy to disprove nonsense, all based on your experience of sticking it to the man when you rejected your parents' faith. Get some more time in. Religions pit people against one another. They are an easy excuse for an enemy -- booga booga bad Islam is out to get us -- booga booga bad Jews are out to get us -- booga booga bad Christians are out to get us. Religion (spirituality) is an individual thought process and should only ever be practised at home in private. I agree that organized religion is just like "gang" mentality and is responsible for 90% of all strife on this earth. Stupid people, believing and dying for something unknowable -- ridiculous! So many thousands of years of wasting human lives for nothing. Shame on human beings for being so damn stupid.
