By who's definition is it deviant sexual behaviour? What if someone thinks the "woman on top" position is "deviant". Will people stop doing it so as to not offend the fragility of this person? Many (if not most) have both parents working. This is not about "giving daycare money". It's about creating the space so a parent can PAY for someone to look after their child while they earn the money to pay their mortgage. Low income parents recieve daycare SUBSIDY already. Thank you Margrace! Jesus was not a Christian. He was a man who taught that the god could be found within oneself. It was only much later (centuries!) that some men invented the Christian religion and created the divide between "heaven" and "earth". In Jesus' eyes we are all "divine". Because of what humans (men mostly) have done to religion it's no wonder people turn away from it. Watched "Elizabeth" on TV the other night. It was amazing how brutal it was between the sects of Christianity. Utterly brutal. Why is it with any topic on religion -- people pit Islam against Chritianity. This thread is about people who take other people's money (money meant to go to god -- he does NEED it afterall ) and use it to buy luxury items for themselves. I was not trying to come across as "mocking" -- is the belief in rapture "harmful"? Probably not. I am not a believer but have been reading up and am trying to make an effort to understand the "religious" and what makes someone a believer as opposed to someone like me who does not believe. I know in the past I have slammed all believers, but I am willing to listen to what makes those folks tick. Read just the other day that Jesus laughed when his disciples pointed to the sky looking for god. He said "the kingdom of god resides WITHIN you". It is interesting to read about Jesus if you look at him as a man rather than a "divinity". He was a great man, trying to teach those around him to accept one another. The only way to the "Kingdom of God" (peacefulness) is to follow his teachings. "You cannot reach the Kingdom, except through me" (his teachings of tolerance). When hubby gets back from Rona (renovating we are!) I will ask him about Jesus' beliefs and religion (he has read a good number of books about Jesus' beliefs, etc. Jesus was not a Christian) until then!

What is Christ going to do at this "second coming"? Christians always talk about people being "saved". Does this not mean they get to go to the kingdom of heaven? JW's believe the kingdom of heaven will be on a newly minted, perfect earth. ... as in "thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven" I was just set straight LOL (JW's came by) JW's don't believe in the Rapture. They believe all will be resurrected to the newly minted perfect earth.

What I mean is that each side takes their postion to the extreme. side A: the world is going to boil in the next 20 years and humans are responsible for 100% of it! side B: the world is not changing at all, humans have done nothing to harm the planet ever! The truth lies somewhere in the middle. We need to anticipate the global climate change... will Bangladesh be underwater in 75 years? If so we should plan to move those millions of people. Will the US midwest still be the breadbasket or will it become a dustbowl? We need to prepare, not run around like chicken little OR deny it utterly.

Forced rehab -- a person gets sent to a facility far far from the city. They are fed, clothed, educated and given the opportunity to build their self esteem through work and accomplishment. If a child is having trouble at home all he/she need do is call social services. They will be there in an instant to take the child away. Or call them yourself if you see abuse. Most kids (even little ones) today know how to use the system "I'll call social services on you if you don't let me do such and such or if you punish me for such and such! I will and then you will lose me forever!" There are, of course, cases of abuse, but not every child (teenager) on the streets is there because their parents were abusers. If a teen is on the streets, he/she needs to get in care immediately. They do not need an apt on their own, they need much more than that. I would've been happier than hell if (when I ran away for 2 weeks at age 15) to have the govt' rent me an apt and give me money. I would have thought it the greatest thing in the world. Never mind that I would probably have never gone to college or.... for pete sake I was 15 and still needed my parents even though I, as a sassy 15 yo did not think so.

One side calls it "Junk Science" the other side calls it an an emergency. It is somewhere in the middle Yes the global climate is changing. yes humans have contributed to it but parking every car on earth, closing all the factories, shutting off all the lights and singing cumbaya won't do a darn thing. No there is nothing we can do about it except adapt. We will probably lose some animal/plant species. (Mother nature is nasty that way -- she killed of the Mastadons not too long ago!) We will probably lose valuable farmland as well. We need to anticipate the changes and adapt to them.
